Realised we need another thread as the other one reached 1000!

Glad to hear scans went well today.

Who else is waiting for their harmony results now? I am hoping to get them in the next few days! But I suspect Friday at the earliest and probably next week Monday! I had the bloods taken for it Thursday morning.

Not sure it's that healthy, especially in large quantities!! DH and I went to Nandos for lunch today (oops) and I nearly cried when he forgot to order my avocado side order... 😂😂😂

Question for those who have had babies before:
Folic acid - I read you only need to take it up to 12 weeks? Is that correct? If so, did you take it up to the 12 weeks from your last period? Or wait for your 12 (or 10-14) week scan?
Technically I'm 12 weeks on Tuesday, but my scan isn't till the 20th
Thanks Smile

Had my booking in appt finally! 4 vials of blood and some wee in a pot later...

I mean, how does she know I'm actually pregnant?! Will she have been able to test my wee? Is she taking my word for it?! I know I've had scans until now but that's not from the NHS so she was none-the-wiser until I said.

Can't wait to get date for 12 week to make sure this baby hasn't somehow vanished 😩

@VeryNewToAllThis hey there you can stop taking folic acid around 12 weeks but I just took a multi vitamin right through my pregnancy last time, a bit of extra folic acid didn't do my little fella any harm, and most pregnancy vitamins now have folic acid in anyway unless you take them all separately... but it's bad enough keeping the one tablet down haha
You could just swap to a multi vitamin after the 12 weeks though

My sickness has improved but still nauseous all the time and needing constant snacks. I'm past the only beige food stage though and craving salad (expensive ones with pomegranate and stuff in though 🙄 and weird things like lettuce with yoghurt).
I tried taking lactulose a couple of days this week, smallest dose with dinner... both nights I had a sudden horrific headache and vomiting within an hour or so of taking the lactulose. Safe to say that it's going in the bin and I will just have to stay (ahem) blocked 🙈

VeryNewToAllThis I’m on baby 3 and with all pregnancies I took prenatal the whole way through. The first one I only started after being pregnant and for second and third started months prior to conceiving. I think it’s best to continue with a prenatal unless you are sure you have a very healthy varied diet covering all nutrients. Unfortunately, I don’t always want to eat veggies and fruit. I force myself when pregnant, but some days miss the 5 a day quota. So vitamins are a back up . Also, baby takes all the nutrients from you so if you don’t have enough you can suffer. Some women have lost teeth during pregnancy bc of this!

Had my scan this morning and apparently baby is measuring 8 days further than I had worked out so I’m 13 + 2 and my EDD is now 11th Dec. Was relieved to see the baby in there ☺️ And it was moving it’s arm about 😁

Thank you 😊 and yes it was a relief - even more of a relief was being able to have a wee afterwards because it was rather uncomfortable... the sonographer even said my bladder was extremely full haha

Report
Mamabear12 · 07/06/2019 16:14

Is there a reason for full bladder? Did they say to drink water before? Had a ten week scan and didn’t have full bladder but they saw baby fine. But curious if for 12 weeks we need full bladder?

OP posts:

peasando · 07/06/2019 16:28

They say full bladder for all abdo scams up to about 20 weeks I think. But I have gone in with a range of fullness and never been told it's not full enough. I don't understand the science but it is supposed to make it easier to see the baby if your bladder is full.

Report
jpaws · 07/06/2019 17:58

Yeah my letter said to drink 1.5 pints in the hour before and not have a wee before the scan... clearly that is overkill as I even partially emptied before going in and it was still full

Report
Nervousdave · 07/06/2019 22:39

Having liquid in your bladder makes it easier to see through, as during these earlier weeks its still partially in front of the womb. From what I understand the ultrasound works by the sound waves bouncing off solids (white) and passing through liquid (black). So if the bladder isnt full enough you might get fuzzy/white patch in the way of baby and they wont get all the measurements 😬

Congrats @jpaws , lovely scan pic.

Got my 12 week scan on Monday and I'm getting excited. 😆

@TDLO

Me too but I get scared more than excited.

I think because last time I was in that room I got bad news so my nerves are all over the place.

It's very stressful.

Glad your excited I'm trying to find that energy 😊

@Funnybunnyfluff I totally get you, I've only just let myself get excited in the past few days after a prev loss in January. It's still very raw and I have now realised That I was very much still heading with the heartache. It's lovely to be pregnant so soon and I am so delighted but it has meant a lot of extra nerves and anxiety.
Have you had a reassurance scan?

@TDLO

Yes I had one at 9 weeks but that still doesn't give me enough reassurance. Hopefully I will feel better after tomorrow. I keep saying to my DH "if" it works out for us. I think I'm doing his head in lol. Not that he shows it.
