Hi all,

I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow and I think I will have the triple test offered. Something else to fret about.
I will be 35 when I have No 1. Know that's not uncommon thse days but i do spend a lot of time wishing I had done this a few years ago...

beller · 30/07/2007 13:38

motherofz- sounds fab! glad u had a good time..im not realy a chocolate person..more crisps and buscuits but have taken a massive liking to ferrea roches (sp )

Louisesj- they didnt ask me..just took them!! hahaa but got results back and it was 1:3066, was quite suprised to be fair...but happy!

Angechica - good luck tomorrow xx

MotherofZ · 30/07/2007 14:07

mmm ferror rocher - why is it that anytime someone mentions food on this thread I want to go out and get it myself.....

Scampynoodle · 30/07/2007 17:52

Can I come and play too, please? I'm new around these here parts and due with my first on 18 Jan. It's fab to see so many women all going through the same malarchy at the same time! It makes me feel as if I'm not making up all my symptoms/ madness after all!

Sx

Hi all.
How is everyone?? All well i hope.
Not been on this one for ages. Did a quick scan and tried reading the posts, but got bored
I am 18 wks today. Getting closer, oo-er.
Got my 20wk scan on 15th Aug.
Not sure if we're going to find out what type it is, but then it may flash us.
Is anyone actually showing yet??
I don't think i am. I do have a bigger middle, but it justs looks like weight gain.
Also, typing about weight, mine is odd indeed. Only way i can describe it cos i don't know exact bits on the scales, is one day i'll be 12 (stone) next day i'll be 5 to 12 (like a clock ) then the day after i'll be 5 past. Then changing between the 3 .
Confusing .
I'm not eating any less or more. Well, don't think i am.
Sorry for long ish post.

MrsMcJnr · 30/07/2007 18:22

Hey ladies how are we all? Migraine today so stayed at home chilling. Boss was really less than impressed but what else could I do?

Naetha ? I?m still at the opposite end, sometimes I don?t feel like I look pregnant at all.

Hi PBirdy wondered where you were! can?t believe your boss! I feel the same about leaving, both my direct reports have resigned this last week due to issues at the top and I can see the next few months being hellish on my own! I?d love to leave at 34 weeks too but I don?t think that?ll work for us financially more?s the pity. I?m not planning to go back to this job either as we plan to move abroad after the baby (IF we sell our house in the meantime) Can I ask you another work question? (so sorry hon!! ) do you know about Bank?s policies of making people ?unofficially displaced? and how long that can last? DH has been in this category for 2 months now and it is really demoralizing, he?d love redundancy (he?d been there 8 years) but they are saying that that?s not an option! Hope you and DH had a good night out!

I?m feeling something but at the mo it scares me each time in case it is not a good sensation if you see what I mean ? 16 weeks tomorrow so still a bit early?

Welcome Kerrlou and congratulations! There are lots of us expecting our first in our 30s on here! By the way, there are always at least 10 ongoing discussions on here!

Hey Ladylush ? you ok hon?

Hello LouiseSJ ? I?m 33 and expecting my first ? 34 in December I have decided to decline the Double Test (all it is up here!) after much medical persuasion, we paid for a private nuchal to get a Down?s risk but as we are having a foetal anomaly scan at 21 weeks, I don?t see the point of having the highly unreliable AFP test ? just would be another thing to worry about. We felt the same as you, after a loss earlier in the year, nothing would make me have an amnio or terminate.

Welcome Mixedmama and MoominMum and Scampynoodle !

Hellloooo to ayreshireloo glad the scan went well they didn?t bother to tell me my due date at my dating scan ? know its 15/1 though! Thanks for the advice, quite right ? told her to haud her whisht too!

Spud ? hoping that all goes well on Tuesday hon, it is a horrible feeling wondering if all will be ok, I feel for you x

Hey Gingeme hello Lilyloo ?

Hello Beller hope being back at work wasn?t too crap! So glad that the bleeding has stopped

Motherofz ? glad you had a good time at the wedding your dress sounds lovely!

Hope the appointment goes well Angechica

Hello Imamurzel nice to hear from you!

LilyLoo · 30/07/2007 18:30

Hello ladies, it's so hard when you are working and not too good. Am loving being off for the summer hols, although not sure i want to go back.
Not a lot they could do is there MrsMc, although i am sure they will let you know how they felt about it.
Welcome Scampy it's great the list is still growing!
Hoep everyone else had a good day. I can't believe it has been sunny here for 3 days

nicky6 · 30/07/2007 19:05

Hi all
beller hope work not too hideous
mrs mc - you are so good with your posts

Louisesj - am 35 having my first, will be 36 by time of arrival. Did the tests for downs etc got tests back really really low risk which made me feel better.

Bit of a worry at the weekend as i had a car accident - not my fault - a man rammed into the back of me and poor betsy (my beetle) and shunted me into a car in front - i ended up with a bit of whiplash. DH very worried indeed as day after accident my morning /all day sickness went away.

Luckily had midwife booking in today and one of the nice doctors at kings came in and did a quick ultrasound to make sure all was well - it was saw little heart bea and arms and legs (as did my sis who came too)

Off to greece for 5 days on wednesday - unfortunaltely Dh case is overunning so it looks like i am going on my own for the first few days - very annoying but there we are.

Hope everyone is well xx

Cazzybaby · 30/07/2007 20:33

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine

Went to the coast today my dp had to drag me past the fish bars selling cockles, muscles and yummy prawns.....

mummyto2littleprincess · 30/07/2007 21:26

i got given my 20wks scan when i had my 12wks scan

toomanyshoes · 30/07/2007 21:28

hello, nice to see more names on our ever expanding list!
All well here, looking v pregnant now which I am really liking. Didn't enjoy last pregnancy at all so bit surprised to be liking this one a lot! We have decided to have a private scan to find out what flavour we are having next week so looking forward to that.
I only have six weeks left before I start my maternity leave, going 11 weeks before due date and adding 4 weeks holiday on to beginning. Can't wait!
Hope you are all well, happy and glowing!

LilyLoo · 30/07/2007 21:31

Cazzy got mine at hospital at 12 week scan. Wo toomany that will be here in no time lucky you.

mummyto2littleprincess · 30/07/2007 21:41

toomanyshoes im only 14wks so have ages left oh i wish it would hurry up
i havent even heard the babys heart yet so i brought a doppler off ebay cant wait until i get it

Housemum · 30/07/2007 21:41

Mrs McJ - I sort of felt something sometimes at 16 weeks, then wondered if I'd imagined it - now 18 weeks and feel something most days now, usually if lying down at the end of the day, beginning to notice more in the day too. It makes you paranoid at first because you don't feel it every day!

LouiseSJ - I went for the bloods on the basis I'd like to know if that reduced my risk (39 so something like 1 in 140) but like you I wouldn't have an amnio - I don't personally know anyone who's had a problem but still wouldn't do it as even if it said there was a problem I wouldn't terminate. I'm too attached to this little being! Have no idea what they were as hospital still haven't sent them to the doc's, but that's good as they phone you within 7 days if they think you are high risk. Will ask at next hosp appt when have 20wk scan.

Am v tired as we had an early start this morning - DD2 was having some photos done for the Tesco mag so we had to be up and out at 7.30 to get to the shoot. Was a long morning - she didn't finish until after 1, then I took her to Ikea for lunch as we weren't far from Croydon.

If anyone is on a tight budget and can get to an Ikea, they have some perfectly good but plain cots, changing tables and highchairs very cheap. Only disappointment was the bedding - they had some nice pink or blue fleecy blankets, useless unless you know what you're having - but the rest was cot quilts which you can't use on under-ones. Shame, they did do a lovely fleece blanket and sheet set a couple of years back and I wanted to get some more (stupidly, I sold the others thinking I'd get new ones if I ever had another). V cheap kids crockery as well - 6 plastic plates, bowls or beakers for 99p. We've used these for years - we had the flower shaped ones they now do unisex rectangular plates.

Housemum · 30/07/2007 21:43

Mummyto2 - don't work yourself up with the doppler - my baby was definitely not in the mood to play at my 16 wk app't - midwife spent ages trying to find the heartbeat. Apparently if the placenta is towards the front it's hard to hear the baby as all you get is the sound of your blood pulsing through the placenta.

Cazzybaby · 30/07/2007 21:46

I think I may have to take a trip to Ikea!

I did not get given my 20 week scan appointment at my 12 week scan, do you think I should have been?

Housemum · 30/07/2007 21:52

Nicky6 - poor you! At least you've been checked over and all's OK with the baby. Hope you've been putting your feet up.

Cazzybabs - maybe it's worth calling the doctors to check that an app't has been made for you? Mine was sent through in the post a couple of weeks after the 12 week scan.

LilyLoo · 30/07/2007 21:52

Cazzy try ringing your midwife tommorrow and just double check.
Anyone used a cot top changer, are they safe enough as will have a lack of room if dc's sharing this time so looking at having one of these.

Housemum · 30/07/2007 22:03

Lilyloo - I've used one at a friend's house and it was fine - they have bits of wood underneath so they can't slip off, they look as safe as any other changing table to me. One thing I would do, particularly for a boy, is to put a towel or something over the bedding during the day - just in case of a pee fountain!!

LilyLoo · 30/07/2007 22:06

housemum am sure that will prove to be a first class tip.

beller · 31/07/2007 08:32

Welcome scampynoodle!

Nicky6- hope your ok!! Enjoy your hols and hope hubbie can get there asap x

Toomanyshoes- Im soooooooo jealous of you leaving in 6 weeks x

Housemum- thanks for the tips! xx

Lillyloo- my sister uses one of those and its fine x

Work isnt too bad....im finding it sooo tiring...up at 5....get home about 5.30 unless i have to go out with clients, but trying to keep that to a minimun! Roll on the next 4 months!!
Hope all is well xx

Scampynoodle · 31/07/2007 09:54

Housemum, you've reassured me, too, about the doppler malarchy. I'm 15 weeks and having the heartbeat checked tomorrow just because I'm so paranoid that something has gone pear shaped that the midwife is checking to shut me up. Course I have no evidence of anything other than the fact that I am still fully up the spout so I am very much looking forward to being proved wrong.

Anyway, you've made me feel a little better that if things don't go to plan it doesn't have to mean that there is anything to fret about.

Ta, like!

Sx

Naetha · 31/07/2007 10:06

Wow lots going on over the last couple of days! Nicky6 - I hope you're OK after your bump - make the most of the holiday, I'm very jealous!

Nearly as jealous as I am of Toomanyshoes - only 6 weeks of work left!

I'm so excited about my scan on friday - I'm surprised its arranged for so early (I'll only be 18+6) but I can't complain I suppose! Belly has really grown over the last week or so - I've finally given in and made an order off the Blooming Marvellous website (10% discount through mumsnet!) so I should have two more pairs of trousers (I only have one pair of jeans I can wear at the moment) and a couple more tops.

Imawurzel - your weight will fluctuate throughout the day generally you'll be at your lightest first thing in the morning, and heaviest in the evening. I find my weight fluctuates by a kilo or two throughout the day.

Ooh, got my triple test results back this morning as well - low risk which is a relief as I wasn't offered a nuchal screening at 12 weeks (just a dating scan).

Still feeling more squirms - I had a bit of a panic on Sunday as I didn't feel anything and I thought either the worst had happened, or that the earlier squirms I had felt were wind or all in my head! Thankfully, I had loads on Monday and I've already had a few today, so that's reassuring
