So sorry to hear Goingfor3's sad news.

Hello Kerlou. Is this your first baby? I am 36 and 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I sometimes feel like everyone is so much younger than me. Are there any other ladies having their first baby in their late 30s or later?

I'm in Lincoln. Anywhere anywhere near me?

mixedmama · 27/07/2007 18:42

Hiya girlies!
Sorry haven't posted for a while, life been a bit hectic so haven't had a chance to log on. Just had a quick scoot through the thread and am gobsmacked and horrified for Goingfor3... Not sure what else to say really, but it makes me feel very sad and shocked for them as a family.
I had a wee scan on Wednesday, everything ok so far, no worries they can see but photo is pants so no point uploading it to let you all have a look. It one hurdle over though, and they confirmed my date of 31st Jan.
Hello to all those who've joined since i last said hi, and i'm a little on the mature side too... i'm gonna be 37 soon and have a daughter of 13months, this bean is no 2 (and prob the last!) and Lilyloo, they'll be sharing a room once i've kicked baby bean out of our room. DD only lasted 6 weeks and not the recommended 6 months... bad mummy / good baby monitor
MrsMcJnr, your pregnancy, your timing i think! I think the in laws will just have to wear it. Tell her to go bile her heid ( apologies to non Scottish people) as it's undoubtedly your show.
Sorry this is so long... i've missed you all!

spud01 · 28/07/2007 09:57

welcome kerrlou and mixedmama

kerrlou - this isnt my first pg, but i am one of the older ones on here im 36

lilyloo - lo is goin to stay in with myself and dp for first two years, keep lo out of older kids rooms as long as possibe. were in a three bedroomed house and we obviously have one room, my dd and dsd who are 15 + 12 has another room, dss and ds who are 16 + 3 are in last room. So were going to have a house full for couple of years to come.

Well i really feel bottom of the pile, everyone is starting to talk of second scans and i have not even had my first scan. Well my scan is tuesday and im getting really worried, because weve so many having to leave. I also feel i dont have best of track records, dd i was taken in hospital through ms, ds was premature, third was mc bk in Jan of this year, so this pg has been going too easy it dont feel real

hope everyone well x

gingeme · 28/07/2007 11:24

Good morning ladies just thought Id drop in while I have a minute to myself. Not had many of those of late. Lol at all those who cant wait for a bump. I seem to have a permenant bump, oh no thats called fat!. I think Im showing a bit but I certainly dont catch myself in the mirror basicaly because i hate looking in mirrors. We went swimming on Thursday and I am currently wearing my bf bras from ds4 as they are the only ones that fit at the mo and because lo was still in the pool with dh I did get some funny looks. Dont think Im going to be able to use them in Jan as Ill be too big to fit into them by then[shock}
Welcome all the newbies
I have my appt for my 20 weeks scan. Its 28th August followed the next day by my first mw appt
Lillyloo I will be putting baby in with his/her brothers when it sleeps through the night.
We are going to a christening tomm so Iam going shopping for a shirt for lo this afternoon.
Have a good weekend all xxx

MoominMum · 28/07/2007 17:49

Hello all We're due 6th Jan, 1st pg and I'm 36. Feel absolutely great but def lamenting my lovely lingerie already - must go buy big comfy pants 2moro I think!

Not sure if this means I've joined - hope so, but thanks anyway as all your news has made me feel more normal!

Is anyone else's littl'un already getting them up at 4 in the morning demanding to be fed? Is this some kind of natural training 4 things 2 come or is mine just beng and awkward sod? (If it's anything like me or its Pop I think probably the latter!)

Best wishes 2 all! MoominMum.

spud01 · 28/07/2007 21:30

Ive also decided im not going to find out the sex of lo, it doesnt really make any difference to me, i already have dd and ds. My dp prefers we have a dd so we have one of each from us, but he wont be too bothered because he has dd from previous marriage + my dd as a dsd

Hope everyone ok, very quiet on here today, ive noticed it tends to go quieter on the weekends

LilyLoo · 28/07/2007 21:45

i think will keep baby in room with us for as long as possible.Suppose i could try baby with either dc's then move it in on it's own and let them share if it becomes a prob. Won't know until it arrives as dd was a brill sleeper and in own room from 6 weeks but ds didn't sleep through until 3
I'm not sure how i'm going to get use to lack of sleep again as we are now use to getting 12 / 13 hours with dd and ds just comes down stairs himself when he gets up in the morning.
Hi the newcomers and welcome, make yourselves at home
Had a lovely day today. it has been sunshining all day and we took dc's to Skipton castle.
An odd question now. Does anyone have their bellybutton pierced. I decided to after having dd as i wasn't having any more children and i was wondering if there was any ring you could get rather than take it out and it healing up. I wouldn't get it done again but quite like it if i ever get my relatively flat stomaach back again def a pro for breastfeeding for me, the best diet iv'e ever done.

LilyLoo · 28/07/2007 21:50

sorry not as god as Mrs Mc at remebering who asked what, but i got my next scan date the 25th August when i went for my 12 week scan and no i'm not going to find out , i didn't on other two either and loved that moment when i was told what baby was.
Am i right in thinking though if you get occupational maternity pay you have to return to work for, 4 months, i think (vaguely remember from having dd 2 years ago)otherwise you have to pay it back, or has that changed now ?

ozzymoomoo · 28/07/2007 21:58

I have my belly button pierced, took it out for my 2nd scan with 1st baby 3 yrs ago and it took me AGES to force it back in. Think I eventually braved the pain after about 18 months! But you can buy pregnancy belly bars which do stretch apparently. Check ebay.

ozzymoomoo · 28/07/2007 21:59

By the way, I'm due Dec 30th (great planning-Not) with my 2nd bubba

LilyLoo · 28/07/2007 22:00

ooh thanks ozzymoo not brave enough to put it back in if i take it out, only took it out once for few min to clean and nearly passed out putting it back in am off to ebay now.

LilyLoo · 28/07/2007 22:02

know what you mean i due 4 days after new year and 8 days before dd's birthday! but hey planning and conceiving are never usually well suited !

ozzymoomoo · 28/07/2007 22:12

Cool. Can't remember what they're called but I'm sure you'll find them. I thought about getting one but then thought hey at my age?? Maybe the world doesn't want to see my flabby baby tummy anymore

LilyLoo · 28/07/2007 22:20

just found some thanks Ozzy rally cheap too. tbh i only get mine out in a bikini two weeks of the year and it may not be a pretty sight after three dc's but will give them a try thanks for the tip.

Naetha · 29/07/2007 10:52

Welcome Ozzymoo, you've got the same due date as me I'm pretty sure I'll be late, although DH is convinced I'll be early as he was born at 34 weeks, and I've been feeling movements and scary boob-leakage that (apparently) can be an indicator for an earlier rather than later birth. As long as LO is healthy I'd rather s/he came out earlier rather than later!

Looking forwards to (hopefully) finding out the flavour on Friday when I get my 20 week scan at not even 19 weeks!

Other than that been enjoying the lovely weather this weekend

LilyLoo · 29/07/2007 20:47

wow extra quiet round here this weekend ! Guess everyone been enjoying lovely weather. Hope everyone ok can't believe your next scan coming up Naetha i can't believe how fast times flying, doesn't seem two mins since we all came on with our bfp's !

LilyLoo · 29/07/2007 20:50

just realised my scan 23rd not 25th don't think they would appreciate me turning up on a Saturday.

MotherofZ · 30/07/2007 08:43

hi ozzy - your due date partner withme as well. race you..!!!

Naetha · 30/07/2007 09:09

Was very quiet on here over the weekend - start posting things - I need something to relieve the tedium of work!

On a bit more of an icky note...any suggestions for dealing with constant night-time boob-leakage? Is it just a case of wearing a bra with those absorbent pad thingies in bed? Is it meant to come and go? Will it tail off at all in the next 5 months? I've had it constantly (although not in huge amounts) for about the last 2 weeks now and I'm getting tired of changing the sheets! I may just lie on an old towel or something....

Anyway, apologies for my monday morning ramble, brain not 100% yet!

Added Ozzy to the list too

beller that's reall nice of you to remember .

SIL (bit bigger than I), leant me this lovely floor length tourquois indian dress with beautiful silver and tourquis embroidery on it. Was so worried about DD gettig something over it.

By the way - highlight of the wedding - Three huge chcolate fountains - natuaraly I had to go up four times! Mademy evening

LouiseSJ · 30/07/2007 11:26

Thank you beller and Moominmum for confirming to me that I am not the only first timer in my late 30s. Did you go for the blood test to find out if you have a risk of downs syndrome? I declined. This is because if I were to find out there is a risk I wouldn't go on to have the amniocentesis anyway. Apparently there is something like a 1 in 380 chance of having a downs syndrome baby at my age. There is a 1 in 100 chance of having a miscarriage with the amniocentesis! Even if I did find out that there was a problem I don't think I could go ahead with a termination. Are you having the test?

spud01 · 30/07/2007 11:49

Hi

LouiseSJ - Im having the blood tests done for downs etc, because of my age and my dp is in mid forties we have increased chance of problems + my stepson has spina bifida which they also check for in the blood tests. I wont be having the amniocentesis test no matter what the results come back, because i wont have a termination unless totally necessary. I view the tests as an early way to get prepared if it was necessary to look after a disabled child, but at the end of the day it is a personal choice

Hope everyone is well and that everyone has had a good weekend
