Hey all, glad the new thread title has been ok'ed and accepted!!
Mum2George, I'm anaemic too...am on superdoses of Floradix and trying to eat iron rich foods too.
I had a pedicure last week and typically it still looks nice when I'm due for another one this Thursday. DH bought me an 'expectant mother' day at a spa which I cannot wait for so roll on some serious pampering this week. Here
Oh, and Growing - I've had those kinda 'you've got HOW LONG left ?' looks for months now...

Aaw my sister really liked the figurine I'm glad I got her that instead of my second choice: an electric steamer. lol

So for anyone else doing the raspberry leaf tea tablets thing, how many are you taking? I got the stronger ones link and it says two tablets three times a day between meals with a warm drink. Does that sound about right?

Think I'm having a wobbly night tonight, feel a bit sad and tearful with no particular reason for it other than just being in constant pain with one thing or another. Sorry to whinge. Think I'll watch a comedy and coerce dp into giving me a backrub, my lower back kept going into spasm today which isn't fun.

I had the strnoger ones - 2 three times a day, and It was the end of the jar (from my friend) - I've bought new ones, which only say 1 twice a day, so i'm going to tweak the dosage.

TBH I'm crap at taking tablets, so rarely get the full dose. I'm supposed to be taking the pregnacare for extra iron, but they make me heave and I never remember to take them either!

DS love Night Garden, but it has extended his bedtime a little. I don't mind it too much, but it is (i guess like all Childrens programmes of its ilk) rather repetitive. I'm not too sure of the farts, burps and kissing that seem to go on rather a lot as well!! I think it is better than Teletubbies!! and it does serve as encouragemnet for DS to get in and out of the bath!!

I had a v wierd dream last ight- I dreampt that GillL had posted that she was going to be the first as she'd had a "show" - then she posted that she'd had a baby, as did I - and I was going round telling people I'd had the baby when it was obvious I was still pregnant!!

Pink - my M/W is coming on fri for homebirth talk too!! do you get that horrible pressure feeling on your pubic bone when you walk? I feel like LO has dropped, but when I sit down her backside is still jammed right under my ribs!

Feel like a have a melon inbetween my legs at time! does still have his bum stuck under my ribs when i sit, last night when i was "Slouching" on sofa with feet on birthing ball i seem to have a lot of room from under my boobs to the top of my bump ? - it so hard to tell sometimes!

I will not be walking into town, think it would kill me, hoping that i can get away with just going to fremlin and not down to the Chequers! Ive also just tought that i also have to get DS school uniform ( starts in September) as im not going shooping for it in August!!!!!

Have you left work now?

Quick question for all you cloth nappy user - where can you get the mesh bags from and the wet bags???

Morning everyone, I too just feel like crying this morning. Is really painful at the top of my bump and has kept me awake all night, it's bad enough trying to get comfortable enough to sleep without that keeping me awake. Then spent the morning being sick (still suffering morning sickness at 33 weeks, can you believe it) and have had to struggle into the office on the train - knowing that I'll have back ache by late afternoon ... and am still being given work to do when my 'replacement' started a couple of weeks ago and I'm trying to get all my existing cases cleared. Thinking of asking the boss if I can start my maternity leave early, don't know who I'm trying to prove myself to struggling on like this. Anyway, don't post for ages and then just moan - sorry everyone just feeling really upset about it. Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Aw Saturn, don't worry about having a moan, it's what we're here for too ok? You know what, you've really got nothing at all to lose by at least asking (TELLING) work that you want to finish up now or certainly very soon. Unless you tell them, they don't know and will carry on treating you the same. I have to say that it came as a shock to me how much I was ready to pack up work and am so relieved I listened to my midwife when she said to go with a minimum of six weeks left before edd.

Morning,

feel much brighter this morning. I think yesterday's tears were probably down to low blood sugar and not eating enough -dinner on Monday was a bowl of potato wedges in the pub (which I couldn't even finish) and no breakie yesterday.

Had a fun night last night at NCT classes as we did nappies !! All the men had to change a baby's nappy (well doll nappy but they were filled with different things like marmite to imitate sticky meconium and english mustard to represent a baby that was being breat fed etc). The men then had to go and make us a cup of tea whilst holding the baby. Must admit DH did really well - he looked a natural holding the baby and the trainer gave him the only girl baby as we're the only ones in the class who know they're having a girl - there are a couple of known boys but no girls. One of the couples also invited everyone round to there house for a BBQ immediately after the last class which finishes at lunchtime on Saturday 28th which is really nice of them - one of the other couples due date is that day so we want to early arrivals - although we are all wizzes at positions for labouring!

Pink - I can put you onto a local nappy seller - I'll try and "cat" you - not sure what thay means but I think it is sending you a message that no-one else can see......!! i don't want to give details out on screen!

Thanks TT, will see what he says - better not go just yet as will probably end up in tears in his office, or maybe if I did that he would want me to leave even sooner . I kept being told by people who had already had babies not to take too long off before the birth as you get bored just waiting at home for your baby to arrive, so I took that advice and originally said three weeks before the birth and said I would try to carry on until two weeks before - but no way I can manage that long. How are you finding your maternity leave, do you get bored at all?

Glad you're feeling so much better today Hersetta.

Saturn - what does your mat leave policy say? You might be able to go off sick and get "forced" onto Mat leave - it might be easier in the long run - if they play silly beggers about letting you change your dates - sometimes their own rules can work against them.

Don't kill yourself working - there is a "risk" of being bored on mat leave - but if you get yourself so knackered that all you wan to do is sleep then you'll feel your well earned time off is wasted... its nice to be able to do something even if only a bit of nesting, coffee drinking, and junk TV watching!!

Blimmin heck!! You lot are difficult to keep up with!

On the topic of the linea nigra - yes, I have quite a definite line. It started out as excess hair but it's now a coloured mark on my skin. Very strange! One of my friends had a line with her DS and nothing with her DD... but another friend had a line with her DD, so I don't think it's a strong indicator of the baby's sex!!

Saturn, hope you're feeling better soon. You should ask to start your leave earlier. I wish my m/w had told me to finish work 6 weeks before my EDD like TT's did. Mine keeps saying to me now "oh you really need to be finishing soon"... I'll still have 4.5 weeks before my EDD but I could have done with finishing earlier as it's such a struggle!!

saturn · 11/07/2007 09:48

There isn't a maternity policy growingbagpuss, it's only a small company and I'm the third person they have had who has been pregnant. May have to go down that route though if they won't let me change my dates. Can't help but feel a little bit guilty though at wanting to leave earlier, but probably not doing the baby much good struggling on. Nesting and junk TV watching sounds like a good plan!!

saturn - i felt like you at about 32 or so weeks too cause it seemed so long till i was leaving - but now its a week to go (am 37 weeks today) and so its much more manageable - although i have just filled in the last hour with doing not very much at all.

Only you can decide how you feel and if you would regret not having the extra time at the other end. Purplerabbit and I are planning to do the London Marathon with our Dad, husbands and brother next year so we both wanted to finish on 20th july in order to not have to go back till the week after the marathon next year. But thats a very specific reason, and if I hadnt had that - think i would definately be finishing this week instead.

my one regret is not buying a pregnancy swimsuit before now, but think even with three weeks to go i might buy one cause would love to swim every day once i am off - and i do hope to have more children at some point so it wouldnt hopefully go to waste.

Absolutely right Pink - I'm biased, but I think she knows her stuff - she's used cotton nappies on both her DS's, and is also the maidstone link for the cloth nappy network.

Conker, very impressed that you are working up to 38 weeks. I couldn't manage that at all I'm afraid!! Are you and PurpleRabbit sisters??!!

I bought a maternity tankini this one about a month ago but am ashamed to say I haven't used it yet. It does look good on though - compared to an all-in-one swimsuit which I've now outgrown!! Like you, I'm planning to go swimming every day once I'm on leave - magic!!

To be honest Saturn I've not had time to be bored !! Everytime I think I've got a good few hours all to myself something else comes up that needs doing. I guess it depends if you're a super domestic person (unlike me). I had (still have really) so much laundry to do and ironing and stuff that it would take hours and hours to do but I'm determined to get it all done and sorted so I can get some of Peanut's stuff washed and ready to go. Being around home has also meant that I'm available to do other stuff. Could run around getting the fabric and bits I needed to have curtains made and then, because I'm at home when the curtain lady just called to say they were ready it meant I could whizz off immediately to collect them rather than wait until the weekend or whenever. There must be bits and pieces you'd like to get done ??
Nice tankini BLM - and yes, I have the same !! Will be giving it an airing tomorrow at the spa and have worn it quite a bit. Have a feeling I'll be in it for a few months after Peanut arrives too knowing my chances of losing baby weight quickly!
Sweetydarling - who is Carol Vorderman ?? That annoying woman off Countdown (see what I did there now ??) and the face of Sudoku (I think?) Plus all those awful 'get yourself out of debt by consolidating all your loans and getting this whopping great big debt instead' adverts.....
