conker - good luck with your clearing. I have been trying to get that done for the last couple of days and I seem to run out of steam at 2pm never to be regained...

Glad someone else has been having these weird stabbing sensations. I shall store this up for that inevitable argument with LO at thirteen about how badly off LO has it because I am such a bad mother etc etc.

I keep wondering about how sex can be recommended as a way of bringing on labour when it becomes increasingly made impossible by baby's geography and mummy's discomfort over this trimester!

saturn · 12/07/2007 13:04

someone at my pregnancy yoga class was told by her midwife that sex is only effective to bring on labour if you have it three times a day!!!

we've also bought some newborn clothes and some in 0-3 months, just in case.

Glad you made it here in one piece itchy, that experience must have been awful for you ... and now no luggage!! btw I have the avent breast pump.

congratulations on the TV mum2george

kiteflying · 12/07/2007 13:07

three times a day! I thought it was that semen had prostaglandin in it - surely you don't need huge doses of it to have it work LOL

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:17

thanks everyone,

I'm online shopping today.
looks like john lewis, m&s and debenhams are good for basics
trying to make up mind over pushchairs too. I need a 3 wheel i think but the ones i saw in JL yesterday looked huge. looking at britax vigour 3 and mountain buggy both have carrycots too.. can't decide on that either
this sling looks simple enough for me but not sure for do i think he'll prefer buckles and straps

Babylovesmuffins · 12/07/2007 13:19

Welcome to Edinburgh Itchy! Bloody hell - if I'd been in a plane that crash-landed I would almost definitely have gone into spontaneous labour - am not a good flyer at the best of times. Glad you made it safely.

Kite I've had movements that feel like my bladder being prodded so there must be a pair of little hands down there. I've also felt hiccups down in my lower abdomen which is quite cute really

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:21

or baby jogger comes in pink!

Babylovesmuffins · 12/07/2007 13:23

Itchy I've used Kiddicare.com for all my orders (cot, travel system etc) - they're much cheaper than the big stores and deliver really quickly. Their customer service has also been very good. That's just my experience but we've used them for about 3 deliveries now and lots of others on MN have said good things about them...

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:24

the crash landing was bit of shock but I was so intent on not missing connecting flight, I focused on staying calm, thinking happy thoughts and breathing.. I knew I was physically fine so determined not to panic. Did call dp from airport so he could panic instead!

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:26

Hi BLM,
I've been looking at kiddicare but they don't have either puschair in stock. Maybe I should call and ask if new stock due in. Also babyworld has had a good deal on britax but now only available in really acid green..

kiteflying · 12/07/2007 13:27

Has anyone started thinking about highchairs? We are coveting a tripp trapp and you cannot get them in Oz easily so we are buying it early. Horrendously difficult to get hold of on ebay.

kiteflying · 12/07/2007 13:28

acid green sounds really nice to me itchy!

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:33

OOooh kite I love our Trip Trap - we will definately be getting another one for new baby, but probably not the new design baby set as it looks all plasticky yuk!

The bonus is they aren't half as big as those huge padded highchairs with trays, and I can sit on it too

Babylovesmuffins · 12/07/2007 13:33

Itchy - we found that Kiddicare sometimes didn't have stock in but they would get it in quite quickly. Just be careful of 2 Left Feet (I don't know if you were thinking of ordering from them or not) - someone else on MN warned me to avoid them as they have really bad reviews, and when I did a search about them on MN I found loads of complaints!!

Kite - we haven't started thinking about highchairs but my cousin's DS is 8 months and she just emailed me to say they'd bought him this one

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:37

ooh thanks for warning 2leftfeet had all in stock.. hmm i'm not totally against lime green but..

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:40

Lime green is fine as long as there is no ginger in your family

MrsBadger · 12/07/2007 13:41

I'm hoping someone will buy us a Tripp Trapp for Christmas (nudge nudge, MIL) but otherwise it's the Ikea Antilop all the way - those padded cushiony ones are a nightmare to clean but the Ikea one goes... in the shower!

kiteflying · 12/07/2007 13:41

thanks washer and babyloves - I like the fact that they are not plasticky so tis disappointing if the new seats are. Have only seen them online and am putting off ordering until I can get to mothercare and look at some RL ones. Love the fact that LO is seated at the table - so better for colouring and all the rest as well as eating with family. I have told DP that if we invest in one he has to agree to eat with me at the table between now and when LO is ready to eat and not be tempted by TopGear's much more scintillating "conversation".

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:43

Oh MrsBadger you are so sensible with your money - I wish I could be so restrained!

I am still holding out for my Phil & Teds Sport buggy even though I know there is not a realistic hope we can afford it . I will be captive in the house with a hyper toddler and a baby at this rate....aaargh!

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:45

now here's a good thread
on what's a MUST buy or a waste

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:47

Kite - it was only the baby set that was plastic on the model I saw in John Lewis, the rest was wood. Although, the shop I got DS' from still has the original version in the window too.

Just remembered that the tripp trapp chair was DS' first christmas present from DH and I - so we weren't THAT extravagant after all

itchyncsratchy · 12/07/2007 13:49

haha washer- i watched 'Last King of Scotland' on plane and Idi Amin says lucky that scottish women like red headed men as 'we find them quite disgusting', made me chuckle walking about edinburgh yesterday.
I must hasten to say that I think red hair is very cute!!

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:51

Oh yes, I didn't mean to offend anyone , just meant that lime green and ginger could be a shocking colour combo

Washersaurus · 12/07/2007 13:52

That didn't sound right either - please someone pass me a spade to dig myself out of this hole

bananabump · 12/07/2007 13:54

Cripes! I go for a quick nap and there's about 50 new posts!

Itchy, glad to hear you're ok after your crash landing, talk about what you don't need!

Kite, I've had those stabbity pains from about 20 weeks, still have them, it's baby either punching, fiddling with, or headbutting the cervix. He does it to my bladder too but less these days than he used to. He batters my cervix every day. I read somewhere that the main cause was usually baby trying to suck his thumb and then losing it and whipping his head around to find it, which is quite cute really I spose. But it doesn't feel cute!!

I'm not buying a highchair just yet, but I want one with a 5 buckle harness and a big well formed tray since we will be doing blw and it can get messy! I'll stick a metre of old lino underneath and let him strangle carrots to death to his little hearts content.

dal21 · 12/07/2007 13:56

havent looked at whether this place has what you are looking for, but their customer service is fantastic. Ordered all my stuff from them. cannot rave enough about them!
