i've decided to treat myself and ordered ghd's online - they deliver them tomorrow (so will just need to hide for the rest of the day and hope they come early tomorrow).

BLM - aren't people amazing, it's incredible how generous they are when it comes to babies.

Sweety,

coffee machine is a gemini by Nespresso with a seperate frother. Must admit it makes great cappacinos and I now save £1.79 a day as I don't need to go to Pret a manger for my morning coffee.

I only have one cup a day so I probably could have a regular coffee but have drunk decaf since we were TCC.

tokentotty · 19/07/2007 14:20

Hello all !!!

God what a nightmare about your hair love ! Good for you for just getting on and doing the sensible thing of ordering a new pair of life's essentials...
Right, bear with me and the Bluewater pic will be uploaded soon. Was lovely to meet those who came alone and hopefully more of us can get together in the future.

so do you think you will all meet up again? i always wonder about RL meet ups go - how the conversations go and how everyone gets on after sharing so much info online..?

Hi guys, had a nice day so far, my big sister came over and helped me sort out baby's bag for the hospital, and figure out the car seat/bouncy chair/pushchair as all those little fiddly bits are impossible for me to work out in my present pregnancy befuddled state. Then she took me to boots to grab the last few bits we need for baby, so we have nailclippers at last! panic over!! lol

The baby bag is now packed, and the nursery almost looks like a nursery, or it will when the wardrobe is finished. wheee!

As for the text buddies thing, I think what they did in another group was for all the regular posters (not to exclude the lurkers but if you don't post very often there's not much point in being the "first alert" for someone!) to be divvied up into text partners who would then exchange numbers and keep everyone posted when things start happening.

Just a disclaimer: This is only an idea, nobody should feel like they have to get involved, if you don't want the extra distraction on the day or if your phone isn't very reliable it's fine!

tokentotty · 19/07/2007 14:41

Ok, it should be on my profile....

Well, it's not the clearest but those images are so tiny that it's never easy to see them that well.

Healthy..... thats a nice way of putting it!!

tokentotty · 19/07/2007 14:59

hahaha yes before we all started dashing off home because of our varying ailments !!!

hope that didn't come across as being cheeky - it wasn't meant like that .

you all must be very photogenic.

Hi August Ladies! Just calling in from the June thread. I had my DD a week ago (hmm, bit late). Anyway, I have one of these its a homeopathic birth kit. Apart from 3 remedies, they are untouched. I've used about half of the Caulophyllum 200 (there's plenty left), a couple of the Arnica and a couple of the phosphorus (I think it was). Otherwise they are complete.

If anyone wants them, email me your address to [email protected] and I'll send it to the first one I get. They are free BTW.

They come with instructions and what remedy to use for which symptoms.

lovelybird · 19/07/2007 15:08

Hi all,
a question for 2nd time around - does the baby's head engage 2nd time round? My MW said 2nd and subsequent PG's can be much more uncomfortable than the first but I feel like I can barely walk! 3 weeks to go and am getting V fed up now, as I'm so flippin uncomfortable. DH took pity on me last night and pedicured my feet while I lay in the bath last night! Bless!
Jem - ooh how exciting, hope you're OK today.

loler · 19/07/2007 15:17

My ds didn't engage until just before he was born (like minutes!) - I don't think my body ever recovered from the first time so everything is much more slack (nice!). Although this might depend on the gap between PGs?

On the bright side it also seemed that the after pains were worse with no 2 too!

Must have been worth it or I wouldn't be here again!

Agree that you all look very healthy in the photo - so who is who?

myweegirl · 19/07/2007 15:32

lovelybird - this is my 2nd and i'm fully engaged too (5/5) with 3 weeks to go...i was a bit shocked as nearly everything i've read said that for 2nd and subsequent babies the head is unlikely to engage until labour starts. it's bloody painful!

jem1969 · 19/07/2007 15:42

lovelybird- was quite exciting in a funny sort of way and yes thanks, am fine today.
Trying to pack bag(s) and am completely incapable. Can't make any decisions and just keep sitting on the bed feeling overwhelmed looking at the NCT (and Hersetts's of course)list. Am going to be in the middle of an area where there's tons of shops and not too far from home so don't know why I think I'm going to need every last thing imaginable. Have managed to wash 12 muslins and all the baby clothes and 'dark coloured' towels I will need to take in so making some sort of progress I suppose. Am wondering when I'm going to do all the jobs I was putting off for "when I'm on maternity leave"!
Love the photo- glad you all had fun yesterday.

Pengy · 19/07/2007 15:57

Great photo, hope you all enjoyed the day and did the essential shopping!

I've been chasing around buggy prices today, big variations! Have to convince DH to venture to baby shops this weekend to finally get one. Our cot arrived on Tuesday so just need the mattress and some bedding now.

Have been ravenous these last few days, mint magnum currently staving off hunger pains! Also feeling huge and not sure how/where 5 more weeks will go... At least I have some pampering planned for next week

katybird · 19/07/2007 16:21

Hi everyone, been lurking all week but crazy busy finishing things off at work (two weeks to go!) so no time to post.

Love the meet-up photo, I agree everyone looks great! Did you get a dress for the wedding GillL?

Had our waterbirthing class at the birth centre on Monday, quite reassured as I knew most of it already, and there were loads of women further along than me who didn't seem to know much at all. Watched our first birth video, was lovely but the baby looked like gollum, bless! Very cheesy backing track too, I was trying not to laugh the whole way though.

Need a mini-rant about my mum, feel free to skip this bit! We've got a nursery list at John Lewis and I was hoping people would get us vouchers or things off it but she's refusing to tell any of her friends about it because she thinks it's vulgar to expect presents. It's not like I'll be ungrateful if anyone buys us anything else, but I thought it would be good to suggest it instead of getting a roomful of newborn clothes. Ah well, rant over.

Pengy, mint magnum sounds like heaven!

GillL · 19/07/2007 16:52

Bluewater meet up was good fun. I don't have any pg friends so it was nice to compare notes. Bought some breastfeeding tops - got pretty much everything else that I should need. My feet really started to hurt after a few hours. Would be lovely to meet up again with the babies.

Left to right on the picture: pinkranger, Mrsshuvel, growingbagpuss, GillL, tokentotty

Everyone sounds really organised now. I've got a couple of child free days next week so I really must make sure I pack my hospital bag just in case I have to go in - after all, I'll be 36 weeks on Sunday.

GillL · 19/07/2007 17:02

Hi Katybird. I got a dress last weekend at Lakeside. It's not exactly what I had in mind as it's black and white but it is nice. Here's the link: www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_18685_403190_-1 I did have a look round in Bluewater but couldn't find anything I liked. There really doesn't appear to be much choice, which is silly considering the number of pregnant women there are.

growingbagpuss · 19/07/2007 17:11

Has anyone emiled foxybrown for the homeopathy kit? If not -does anyone mind if I do? I was just thinking that i'll need some arnica, and was goin to order some on line as I can't face shopping again.

My girlie bits are SOOOOO SORE -God I hope its not much longer......

growingbagpuss · 19/07/2007 17:12

GillL - Like the dress - its really soft, and very feminine - good for you!

bananabump · 19/07/2007 18:44

Go for it bagpuss! Foxy I did look at your link because I've been thinking about getting some arnica, but I don't know if I'd use the rest of it so better not to waste a kit on me, may as well let someone with knowledge of homeopathy really make use of it!

Kind of you to offer it for us, we'll have to do that with any spare raspberry leaf tea/tablets etc for the october/november lot! I know I'll have loads, I keep forgetting to take them. D'oh!

katybird · 19/07/2007 18:55

GillL, that dress is lovely! I know what you mean, I've been wearing a full-length silk dress for weddings this year but it's far too formal really. Going to one on Saturday in a casual Topshop dress, much more comfortable!

Glad you enjoyed the meet-up, I'll have to join you next time.

Go for the kit bagpuss, I thought the same as you bananabump - need the arnica but would be clueless with everything else!

I'd be up for the text buddy thing, might make sense for me to pair with kiteflying because we're in the same yoga class but don't want to inflict that on her without her say-so!

bananabump · 19/07/2007 21:24

Sounds fair enough katybird, if everyone who is interested says so, we can just pair everyone up and email each other numbers.

Well, arrangements have been made for mil to come down on my due date (aug 4th) so hopefully he'll be a bit early or it'll be a bit awkward. I don't really want to go into labour with mil in the house, purely cos I want to be able to wiggle my bum in the air and jump in and out of the bath and moo a bit before we have to get going to the hospital.

Plus, this is the first time mil will meet my family, arse-clenching stuff, let me tell you!
