Even though I’ve looked many times before I cannot get over how expensive nursery fees are Shock

maddiecxx · 25/03/2019 22:49

@Lavellan yeah I thought that, I either get it at work or when I'm in bed so probably what you said! Sometimes it helps to pull the bottom of my bra away from my skin so that it's not so tight and that can ease it too? @challengeyourreality yeah I'll mention it to her I see her the 3rd of April x

TheCraicDealer · 25/03/2019 23:29

I was in Topshop maternity section at the weekend and it was refreshing to see that some of their maternity selection is as strange as their normal stuff. Nearly got a pair of what I thought were plain black trousers for work (only ones they had), looked on their website later and found they made even the model look like David Brent's lower half. Glad I skipped those. I did get a mint camisole for £5 in the sale though.

Seraphine have a sale on, I have my eye on a few bits. Mostly summer dresses, so I then sat and googled trying to see what the weather was supposed to be like this summer before investing, and then remembering I don't get paid for two days Grin my DSis had her first in early October 17 and she keeps telling me to get dresses for work as you she got proper sweaty over the summer. Luckily however I sit next to the air conditioning controls in our office.

I got a few tops from GAP there which I'm waiting on (they had 40% off so was like £52 for six tops, mostly suitable for work) and picked up some maternity jeans from Mothercare this evening. They're still a bit big at the moment but I'm at the frustrating stage where I'm having to do the button on my normal jeans with a jeffing hair elastic Hmm

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/03/2019 07:03

16+5 still being sick in the mornings, permanent pain in my arse cheek and awful heartburn. Oh the joys.

Midwife today. Going to try and get some answers about this drip i am being put on after the birth. My main concern is i want to get up and get cleaned up before being stuck on it for four hours.

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 26/03/2019 08:01

Morning ladies! I’ve succumbed to my maternity work trousers and today is the day I tell my boss 😱😬. Might start using my baby on board badge soon as I was thrown about quite a bit on the tube last week and managed to tweak my hip trying to brace

Moraxella · 26/03/2019 08:13

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I wore my badge once and it didn’t make a difference and I felt mega embarrassed so I have retired it 😬

Asos maternity for everything 🙌

DustyDoorframes · 26/03/2019 08:23

Phew, I've just caught up after being offline for a couple of days. Nothing to report here!
Those not quite ready for mat clothes but with tight waistbands- a belly band is brilliant for that stage, you wear them under your trousers and button into the band. Later on it's good for support. I got mine from jojo with DC1 and is saved me from buying maternity stuff for yonks.

Stroan · 26/03/2019 09:17

I've been fully in maternity clothes since week 11. I was at a baby shower at the weekend, of 5 pregnant women I was the least pregnant and looked the most pregnant (with the exception of the girl due this month!)

Looks like I'm going to be as massive as I was with DD. Couldn't see my feet by 20 weeks.

Still feeling pretty nauseous all the time but starting to have some short spells of feeling better so fingers crossed that the HG is passing. However on yet another dose of antibiotics to clear an infection which they think has caused all the recent spotting. I'm hoping for one week with no medical appointments!

Karigan195 · 26/03/2019 09:25

I can’t seem to shake the morning sickness this time either and I’m 18 weeks in 2 days 😐. Starting to get a bit worried about it.

IVEgottheDECAF · 26/03/2019 09:52

I feel you karigan, i am bang on a week behind you. Random and disgisting question but what are you actually throwing up in the mornings? Mine isnt food just white occasionally yellow froth. Envy (not envy) If i eat before i spew i normally don't spew. If i drink then spew i also spew the drink.

Apologies for the gross ness of this convo

happydays00 · 26/03/2019 10:47

@IVEgottheDECAF I throw up regardless of what I have eaten or drunk so I try and have an aptimel yoghurt drink as soon as I get up so it's not as hard to throw up as an empty stomach. After the yoghurt has come back up it's just foamy bile, depending on how many times I heave I sometimes get down to yellow acid.

I'm going to make an appointment at the doctors to try some acid tablets - I'm hoping that may help 🤷‍♀️

Megan2018 · 26/03/2019 11:18

I am vomiting froth too if my stomach is empty.

It is only when I brush my teeth that it happens, or if I smell certain things. First thing it is always only froth as stomach is empty. But when I brush my teeth at night it is my partly digested dinner.

If I eat first thing though I then throw up whatever I have had so it makes no difference.

15+5 and I think I am stuck with this tbh!

Megan2018 · 26/03/2019 11:23

I am in full pregnancy rage today.

I ordered some maternity items from Dorothy Perkins the other week, kept most of the order but returned one item. They have refunded the wrong item (a much cheaper one). I called up expecting it to be something easily resolved (NEXT and John Lewis have made the same mistake before and easily corrected it) but no, I have to provide evidence that I still have the item they have refunded by photographing the item including all of the tags and care labels before they will consider it.

I lost it with them, have asked for a return label so I can send the whole sodding lot back- such a terrible attitude! And all over £9. I have also just written a shit mail personally to the Arcadia Chief Exec. They will regret pissing off a pregnant lady!

I know it's only a few quid but it it the attitude that has really got to me today. I have gone full on nuclear. Bastards.

Karigan195 · 26/03/2019 12:00

@IVEgottheDECAF. Yeah that lovely stuff is bile. 🤢.

Mostly mine hits worse in the evenings when I’m tired from work but if it does hit in the morning it’s usually just bile too. Only solution seems to be to keep eating but I also don’t want to get too fat for post baby losing the weight (arghhhhhh)

Karigan195 · 26/03/2019 12:01

It bloody hurts when you’re throwing up proper stomach acid too. Being pregnant is not fun!!

TwittleBee · 26/03/2019 13:01

Oh the frothy sick is the worst! It makes me think of silent witness when they cut open a corpse and see all that froth in them that shows they drowned to death!

StarLight10 · 26/03/2019 13:12

@excitednerves hope you're ok. I'm having my appointment next week to check for the same thing. I know how nerve wracking it all is and mine hasn't been confirmed yet - feel free to message me if you want a chat.
Everything crossed the progesterone works and you have a trouble free pregnancy.

Florencenotflo · 26/03/2019 14:15

I'm just sitting here ordering maternity leggings and looking at maternity jeans. My regular jeans seem to be ok because they are more like jeggins with a soft waist band which I can pull up quite high. But we've just booked a holiday to Turkey in May when I'll be 25 weeks so I now also need to find holiday/summer clothes a lot earlier than I'd hoped too! It'll be nice to get away though just the three of us before baby arrives.

I've been assured that I will be sat on a sun lounger (under an umbrella) while DH entertains Dd Grin

excitednerves · 26/03/2019 14:31

Thanks @StarLight10 it was honestly a bit of a shock - I had fully expected they would say everything was OK. But I guess it’s not not 100% a surprise.

Good luck with yours too! Fingers crossed!

Karigan195 · 26/03/2019 14:56

Actually thinking about what Florence says above: what are the rules on flying please? I’m going to Spain in a few weeks. Do we need a letter confirming we are fit to fly etc?

TwittleBee · 26/03/2019 15:21

Flying should be all fine, I think it's something like once you're 30 weeks plus it gets trickier. Just check where about you're allowed to sit on an aircraft, I know with DS I wasn't permitted to sit near a door as I was pregnant.

boodles101 · 26/03/2019 15:25

The majority of airlines are ok up until 28weeks when you'll need a letter. I've had to cancel my holiday to Lanzarote as I'll be 28 weeks and just not comfortable going abroad with twins at that stage. If it was just one then I probably would have been ok but seeing as twins can come nice and early I just don't risk it.

Moraxella · 26/03/2019 17:02

28 weeks with a letter, 36 weeks is the deadline. Then you can fly with a two day old, or ten days post c-section

Just found out we need to head to America til September (obv I need to come back a few weeks before). What do I do about midwife appointments etc 😱😱 fly back or pay someone there to listen in every so often?

KLane · 26/03/2019 17:08

@Moraxella Speaking as an American, you really need medical coverage while you're there! If anything happens you could rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. It adds up quickly there, even just an urgent care visit can be a thousand dollars or more. Travel insurance likely won't cover you except for emergencies. Is this for work? The employer should provide a policy as part of the package!

kyles101 · 26/03/2019 17:49

@TheCraicDealer

  1. as if you can stay awake that late?? 9pm and I'm zonked nowadays
  2. thanks for the seraphine sale heads up 😍 my credit card is quaking
  3. most importantly what did your weather research reveal? Heatwave or washout?

@Megan2018 I can hear the angry typing!! I once bought something from Debenhams and it had a price tag in it if I don't know €30 or something, Debenhams had charged me in the region of £45 in the sale. No one I spoke to could understand my annoyance (it was back in the days of a decent exchange rate). I sent it back too!
