Kyles, try getting yourself a support belt. They really do help. The ones with the band at the top and bottom of the bump.

TheCraicDealer · 25/03/2019 08:26

kyles101 the lady I was speaking to was saying that, for example, if you wanted the grey melange bassinet it would all be grey. But they're hearing from Bugaboo this week to see exactly what the score is. All an attempt to streamline and cut down on packaging waste apparently so I suppose I can't complain too much when it's for eco reasons. We're just going to order ours at the weekend but they'll build and store it until we need it.

firstbabybean glad you're enjoying your purchase!!! Did you find it hard to build? From the gazillion YouTube videos I've watched I've heard it can be a challenge to put together!

We're getting a cybex car seat with it for the same price as just the pram in Mothercare, and that's not unusual from what I've seen. I know boodles was saying about bartering but you'd expect to get better deals at a multinational like MC rather than a local nursery store, not the other way round!

KnobJockey · 25/03/2019 08:30

I have a bump all the time, there's no hiding it here. I've done a massive maternity order from Asda, most of the jeans are going back, but the dresses are mainly fab, as are the leggings. I've found some good jeans from next and also a pair of flattering ones from Matalan. I have also just done an order from Topshop, so thanks to whoever it was recommended that sale! For a bit more dressy stuff. I have heard though that the sizes come up small from there.

Farmmama · 25/03/2019 08:33

Hi I’m new to the thread. Expecting second baby mid September. First was born nearly 7 weeks prem so a bit worried about a repeat, but at least I’m being well monitored this time.

We were given a Bugaboo Chameleon by my brother in law and it was great on pavements. But if you need a proper off reader (I mean proper mud, bumps etc, as opposed to Hyde Park grass!) then it’s absolutrly crap. I tried it with the big wheels at the front and it was so difficult to push over the horse fields in summer. The grass all gets tangled in the wheels. I dread to think how it would cope in the mud around the Farm in winter, but I’m guessing you wouldn’t get anywhere. I didn’t even try! Nightmare. So I got an out and about which is bloody amazing off road. It’s So good I’ve already got a double! It copes with everything Farm life can throw at us and is a true off roader. Farm mums only seem to recommend the out and about or mountain buggy for real off road stuff. No point even trying with anything else.

I got both of mine second hand off the out and about selling group on Facebook. Both as good as new but paid hardly anything for them.

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 09:28

I’m 14+2 and there’s no hiding it anymore Blush

Lavellan · 25/03/2019 09:30

@maddiecxx "ribs, it’s like a really sharp shooting pain whenever I move and especially when I breathe in, it’s so bad it literally paralyses me for a few minutes I sit there and can’t move, and then I feel something crack or like pop and the pain goes"

Yeah that's your rib moving that's making the pop. Probably you're ligament holding it in is inflamed, maybe you've pulled it. Can happen with a sneeze or even in bed.

Karigan195 · 25/03/2019 09:33

Yeah not hiding it anymore here either. I feel massive and it’s pretty bloomin obvious. Slightly worried I’m too big! But been looking at thebelly gallery etc and seems it’s not unusual to be this big at 17+4!

IVEgottheDECAF · 25/03/2019 09:35

I tried some topshop maternity stuff last pregnancy , the vest tops were useless and i now use as pj tops when i am not pregnant ..... they are already struggling to cover my bump

Megan2018 · 25/03/2019 09:49

Ok, so my bump is actually bigger than I thought. Attempted to tend to the "lady garden" yesterday and actually can't bloody see it properly! There was no sucking it in Blush so I think I have to accept that it is bump but it is just very low down.

I also couldn't clean the chicken coop yesterday - I'm not tall and now the bump stops me from leaning over. Alas this means another job to delegate to my poor DH!

I am still in my work dresses as none of them are tight in the tummy area and have stretch but non maternity leggings and jeans are a no-go. Maternity jeans though are still a bit too big. And normal tops fit, I just look fat.
I reckon within a fortnight the maternity jeans might be ok. Until then I will just have to stick to dresses!

Moraxella · 25/03/2019 10:10

No bump but did a cheeky ultrasound at work last night and @GemmaJen you’re right, it’s grown like a beast and now looks like a creepy frog trying to straighten it’s legs 🤨

Lavellan · 25/03/2019 10:28

Been trying to pick up a second hand cot this weekend but keep getting messed about on Facebook marketplace. Why can't people put the correct postcode on their listings??

challengeyourreality · 25/03/2019 12:36

@maddiecxx that sounds very painful, are you going to talk yo your midwife about it?

In terms of bump - I have been in maternity wear for a good few weeks but in the past few days I have felt like my bump is getting much smaller. I've been doing a lot of work in the house - painting etc, and a bit paranoid I've overdone it. I forget I'm pregnant sometimes and then think afterwards, 'goodness that was too much bending', or something similar... might call the MW just to put me at ease this afternoon

kyles101 · 25/03/2019 14:42

@KnobJockey like this? Does it grow with the bump?

HopesMama32 · 25/03/2019 14:49

Hi girls, newbie on the thread! 12+3 with baby n°3! First hospital appointment tomoro!

kyles101 · 25/03/2019 15:03

I've found not sitting too long helps... but also not standing too long too 🤔 swaying side to side also eases it if I have to stand for long periods of time... think I deffo need to dust off the yoga dvd!

Also welcome new ladies!

LyraLupin · 25/03/2019 15:27

This thread moves very fast!
Had appointment today to discuss birth options, hoping for a VBAC as only elective section last time for very stubborn breech despite 2 x ECV!

Am still using my silvercross with my very nearly 2 year old so hoping to get by with either bassinet attachment for baby plus buggy board for toddler or pushchair attachment for toddler plus sling for baby!

3 things I am hoping to sort out pre baby - get toddler sleeping through night (stopped breastfeeding 2 weeks ago so hoping this helps) pass an exam and finish renovating the house. So at moment the weeks are creeping up on me!

Cheekychimp1 · 25/03/2019 16:16

17weeks

I lost this thread for a bit so hello again! Hope everyone is doing ok.

I’ve missed the talk about prams. Popped into mothercare and literally didn’t have a clue what I’m looking at so booked into the mamas and papas parenting talk to give me some idea and will go from there.

I did buy a next to me cot from smyths last week as in sale, will put the sleephead deluxe in it, and today got a pregnancy pillow for lying on side as hips ache like crazy without it. Also wore my first maternity dress to work and felt soooo good not to have jeans digging into me.

I feel my belly is rounder and bit harder today. Hopefully will start looking pregnant and not just fat now!

Will have to read the chat from the past couple of weeks now x

Cheekychimp1 · 25/03/2019 16:19

@megan2018 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the lady garden comment.

Karigan195 · 25/03/2019 16:26

The lady garden comment made me laugh too. Can’t see mine without a lot of squishing. Slightly disconcerted it does squish as suggests I’m getting fat! Was a size 10/12 before but prone to rapid weight gain unless really careful as I have a thyroid disorder 😐

happydays00 · 25/03/2019 16:47

Omg @Karigan195 I am the same re concerns about squishing! Had my 16 week midwife appointment today, heard the heartbeat which was lovely as I continue to convince myself I'm no longer pregnant despite the fact I'm still throwing up every morning.

I also find the weeks are sneaking up on me, we are moving house in May plus trying to get a load of renovations finished. I'd like to be able to press pause and also fat forward in equal measures!!

firstbabybean · 25/03/2019 16:48

@TheCraicDealer it wasn’t too bad. Luckily it arrived with the fabric on the bassinet. I think it will be a faff when it comes to switching to pushchair but thankfully you only have to do it once. I need to look into car seats and Moses baskets next, but trying to hold off for a few more weeks.

I’m definitely bumping at 16+5 and in maternity jeans and leggings. Got another scan on Thursday and I’m excited to see my little frog. Hope you all have a good week.

TwittleBee · 25/03/2019 17:44

I'm really getting fed up with this on and off spotting I've had since the start. Just don't know whether to contact MW today as I've been having bad pains too today. But then the bleeding isn't as bad as it has been previously! Ah the frustration of having an irritated cervix

MyBreadIsEggy · 25/03/2019 17:52

I’ve been AWOL for a few days - sorry all!!
I’m still dying from mystery illness, which has now evolved into a hideous barking cough that makes me spew, and a mysterious rash on my middle/lower back that is incredibly itchy Hmm

KnobJockey · 25/03/2019 18:58

Eggy, I think I had that last week! I was up all night coughing, which was making me retch, and it was like I had an allergic reaction- itchy skin all over, a rash in some places. It eased off after 2-3 days, but my hands looked liked I'd developed eczema for a week or so after and were so itchy. I just took paracetamol, and I bought a magicool spray which helped with instant relief when it got too much. Apparently you can have certain antihistamines, but they have to be okayed by your GP.

BBell2 · 25/03/2019 22:17

IVEgottheDECAF I found the same with Topshop. Managed to buy the maternity version of a dress I regularly wear at work (not cheap!) And it was smaller overall expect the front panel and very definately shorter, like I really needed that.
I'm wearing some TU jeans today but they are so stretchy and comfy.....may never fit a non pregnant body again!

Welcome Farmama, I feel the same on my bugaboo, loved it until I hit the fields (i dont live on a farm, just dog walking is all woods, hills and tracks here) which is daily sometimes twice. I managed with slings and a proper sturdy carrier later but have already got to the out and about and mountain buggy from a farming friend. Another had a rougher buggy at the same time, we went walking together and she coped better than I, was going to ask her too.
