@DustyDoorframes I would have thought that as long as you wear gloves while gardening and wash your hands afterwards you’d be fine. I’m still cleaning out my cat’s litter tray, chances are I’m immune already but I’m assuming that as long as I wash my hands well and don’t lick the tray I should be ok anyway 😂

I had my dating scan on Monday, all looked ok so just waiting for the combined test results now.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/03/2019 10:13

karigan when i had my scan baby was moving loads. It took about 45 min and then i got called back later as some of the measurements didnt make sense. I think the lady was actually getting annoyed and my scan report reads "technically difficult scan" Blush

KLane · 20/03/2019 12:10

@DustyDoorframes I agree with @stormtrooperjulian and just wear gloves/ thoroughly wash hands. I too am still cleaning the cat litter trays!

Florencenotflo · 20/03/2019 12:26

Had my midwife appointment this morning. She tried for 20 mins to find a heartbeat but couldn't. So I'm waiting for a call with an appointment up at EPU for a scan. She did say it's quite common to have difficulty finding it at this stage (17 weeks) so not to worry too much. I'm sure everything is fine but having had a previous MC I'm trying really hard not to freak out a bit.

kyles101 · 20/03/2019 12:41

Aw, I'm sure everything will be fine but you will worry regardless. The reason they no longer listen for the heartbeat during m/w appointments in my trust is because there is so much difficulty finding it so everyone was going for scans concerned. (My midwife is naughty though and has one we can use if we ask her! But she may have said she'll only use it from 24 weeks, I can't quite remember now)

Megan2018 · 20/03/2019 12:45

@Karigan195 So jealous you got to hear heartbeat! The lack of this is another thing for me to fret about until the next scan.

But equally I suppose better that they don't try than to have the issue that you have @Florencenotflo. My area no longer checks for hb until 24 weeks for the reason you've had. So don't worry until there is something to actually worry about. Easier said I know...

I don't feel pregnant - I think that is my issue still. Yes I vomit with every teeth clean or bin smell and I have a small bump. But there's nothing else that confirms a baby and I still feel really disconnected to it all. Once I can feel her this will hopefully help but genuinely naff all so far as still only 14+6.

Karigan195 · 20/03/2019 12:47

@ Florencenotflo I’m 16 +6 today and had my midwife appt today. We did find the heartbeat but baby was totally playing hide and seek bouncing everywhere and we were lucky to catch him sat still for just long enough to hear it for 3 secs before he disappeared again. So I can easily see how it can be missed if you have an active baby backwards sloping uterus etc etc so please try not to worry.

Easterbuns1 · 20/03/2019 13:05

@Florencenotflo hope you are seen quickly to put your mind at rest. My area is also 24weeks onwards before mw will use Doppler due to it often causing more worry than not so try to take some comfort from that.

Florencenotflo · 20/03/2019 14:37

EPU can't see me until next week apparently. I'm on my way to my consultant appointment, MW said they will try again there. Not sure how I'll feel if they can't find it either! Epu still won't see me any sooner. I can get a private scan on Saturday but for now just trying not to worry! My MW did say it causes more worry trying this early, other trusts she'd worked in don't do it until after 20 weeks.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/03/2019 14:40

Fingers crossed you have more luck with the consultant florence.

Stroan · 20/03/2019 16:16

Hope the consultant is helpful @florencenotflo

Had my 16 week appointment this morning and the midwife wasn't happy that the hospital hadn't seen me after the huge bleed last week. I've been spotting again since yesterday so she sent me up to get checked. Nothing obvious but I might have yet another infection.

In triage, they did manage to find the heartbeat but it was difficult and the baby kept moving away from the Doppler. Only heard it for very short bursts every now and then

Consultant found the heart beat within about 2 seconds... Hmm all that worrying! And my poor midwife this morning spent ages trying! There aren't that many places to hide!

boodles101 · 20/03/2019 16:41

What a relief for you though florence glad it didn't take the consultant long. They say not to panic if they can't find it but seriously how can you not panic!

Megan2018 · 20/03/2019 16:45

Good news! @Florencenotflo

Glad they found a hb for you too @Stroan, the bleeding must be a worry but it sounds like nothing serious,

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/03/2019 17:06

Once you start feeling regular movement the worries start to lessen!

DustyDoorframes · 20/03/2019 17:20

Ouf, @Stroan and @Florencenotflo I'm so glad you've been checked out!!
And then they wonder why pregnant women get high blood pressure...

KLane · 20/03/2019 17:36

I worried a lot more once I started feeling movement with DS 😂 Have I felt him this morning? Wait, was it at lunch or was that yesterday? Has it been 24 hours? I went through loads of very cold orange juice trying to stimulate movement haha!

challengeyourreality · 20/03/2019 18:24

Lots to catch up on from yesterday and today!
Glad everything is okay for you both @Stroan @Florencenotflo
I had to call my GP on Monday as I have a lump on my left leg, by my ankle. I've had it since last summer but GP had said to come back only if it grew. I showed my midwife as it's been getting a bit bigger and she advised me to go back - as I check it at home without tights I realised it's also blue Confused I'm booked for a scan tomorrow afternoon to look at the structure of it so I'm really hoping it's something harmless. The GP had proded around it and around my leg and I left the appointment with a growing cramp in my thigh above my knee and I panicked a bit that it was due to the lump but the pain has dissipated somewhat today so I guess I just pulled a muscle and it is unrelated.

Easterbuns1 · 20/03/2019 18:25

on the subject of movement...

www.kickscount.org.uk/Pages/Shop/Default.aspx

It's a bit early for us all yet but I've already ordered a wrist band from the kicks count charity to wear when I need to start paying more attention to movement. I thought they were a great idea and it's a brilliant charity to support.

challengeyourreality · 20/03/2019 18:26

I hadn't realised it could be difficult to find the heartbeat - v good to know incase it happens to me as MW here checks it from 12 weeks and then every 4 weeks!

happydays00 · 20/03/2019 18:45

@Stroan and @Florencenotflo how worrying for you both. Glad they could find a heartbeat and all ok on that front. @stroan - you poor thing having another infection; your immune system must have just given up entirely with everything going on for you!

Nothing really to report here, I've put on 4kg which I didn't really expect as my portions have been smaller and generally I think I'm eating less. Also struggling with some problems with my ear - it feels completely blocked and my face has also gone a bit numb on that side as the day has progressed. Doctors couldn't fit me in so I will ring tomorrow at 8:30 and hope I can see someone.

ZigZaggyZoo · 20/03/2019 19:02

"Florence", im so glad they xiuld find the hb so quickly. The wait must have been awful! "Stroan" I'm glad you've been seen properly now. Can't believe they were happy to leave you!
"Challenge" I'm sure it'll be fine, good luck for the scan!

BBell2 · 20/03/2019 19:50

@BridgetJonesDaiquiri I havnt told work. They have been dangling a promotion (only to really get me onto the same band as the two men I already do the exact same job as) since Jan. I've been doing two jobs and dont really know who to tell and know it will instantly put pay to the pay rise conversations as it did with DD. I've never regained the ground I lost three years ago on wages. I was really fed up today, I'm demotivated and cant tell work friends until I tell my current or future boss - that will be a fun conversation "thanks for doing the right thing....and I'm pregnant btw"

kyles101 · 20/03/2019 20:50

@BBell2 it's so frustrating isn't it - my boss and I were supposed to be discussing a hefty promotion this summer... that won't be happening now and I'll lay money on it not happening when I get back either. At least I've managed to climb a fair way on the ladder before the child years stall! Will have to resume the climb in a few years 🙄
