I have found local NCT classes but how do you find out the price?

ColdCottage · 20/03/2019 23:43

@Hsunshine they can vary from £18 ish / £200 plus depending on your income. Same course just price reflects circumstances.

ColdCottage · 20/03/2019 23:50

I had a few more bleeds following the one 2 weeks again.
One on Friday was larger so they booked a scan to see doctor (to check if it's the cervix) and a scan for Tuesday just gone. All was fine - they found a large heamotoma which is what they say is bleeding - gets squashed and bleeds as re uterus grows as it's on the outside.

For peace of mind they sent me to the local midwife lead centre near near me for a heartbeat check even though I was only 14 weeks that Friday. The midwife as 99% sure she wouldn't hear anything and wasn't keen (never heard one at 14 weeks before but EPAU say they can easily). Anyway I was her first, she found it no problem. She was prepared for me to need to drinks lots and need to jump around but no need.

Equally I heard in some places they won't listen until 20 weeks as panicking mums and meaning more un needed scans.

BBell2 · 21/03/2019 06:53

@kyles101 so frustrating! Good luck with yours, it's not supposed to a make any difference to how you are treated or accessed. Which I find laughable right now!

Hi all,

Had a bit of spotting yesterday afternoon, got home from work and started getting some AF like cramps which got quite heavy. Went to bed early with the hope of writing the day off as a scary blip.
However I woke up at 2am to heavy stomach churning cramping and proper full on bleeding and clotting. So 6 hours later I’m getting an emergency appt to confirm what I already know Sad
My dating scan is meant to be tomorrow at 13+1, that’s kinda cruel right Hmm or perhaps better to never have seen it at all?

BridgetJonesDaiquiri · 21/03/2019 08:29

@heather88 fingers crossed it’s just a haematoma or some other harmless bleeding. Good luck and will be thinking of you xx

Karigan195 · 21/03/2019 08:50

I was talking to my mum about being torn between getting the pram I want now because it’s half price on amazon (450+ in shops 260 on amazon) and waiting for the 20 week scan. She’s only gone and brought it for me 😲!

So now I have a Quinny buzz extra coming. It’s the from birth to 3 years and seat that faces both forward and back that I particular wanted.

Fortheloveofscience · 21/03/2019 08:53

heather I’ll be thinking of you today Flowers. Keeping everything crossed it’s just a random bleed.

Megan2018 · 21/03/2019 08:53

@heather88
Thinking of you, what a huge worry. But there are plenty on here who have had bleeds and cramps ad all turned out fine, so its not always worse case scenario. I really hope you are a lucky one too

happydays00 · 21/03/2019 09:13

@heather88 will be thinking of you! Hope it all turns out to be ok Thanks

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/03/2019 09:15

Fingers crossed for you heather

Karigan195 · 21/03/2019 09:18

@heather88 oh no how scary for you. It could be anything though so I’m going to keep everything crossed for you.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/03/2019 09:19

Karigan isnt your mum lovely! Bless her

Megan2018 · 21/03/2019 09:24

@Karigan195
How lovely!
I am hoping bank of dad might be equally generous here! Although we have no idea what we want yet really. Difficult combo of All Terrain and small boot.

DustyDoorframes · 21/03/2019 09:32

Oh @heather88 that sounds so stressful!!! And you have such a late first scan too. I know it's hard, but there are so many women who have apparently catastrophic bleeds and then it turns out ok. You just have to wait and see (as if that's easy!!!!). Fingers crossed they see you first thing today.

DustyDoorframes · 21/03/2019 09:37

Ps @Megan2018 we started out with a sling with our first, then borrowed a few friend's pushchairs to try them out- we ended up with a Micralite. They've recently got much more expensive but I really love ours- brilliant off-road, brilliant on public transport, and worked in our small flat. The big wheels pop off and then it fits in the teeny boot of my mum's panda. You need a carry cot for the tiny baby stage, but we just used the sling for the first 9 months or so anyway.

In other news- now I've finally told everyone key I'm up the duff- I've broken out my maternity jeans today. I'm so comfy and happy!!!

happydays00 · 21/03/2019 09:38

@Megan2018 I had a Mini (5 door) with my DD and was actually amazed at how many prams fitted in there! I did have to take the 2 back wheels off mine when using the bassinet but I became a pro in about 2 weeks and the whole collapsing process only took a minute or so. I went for a bugaboo and it fitted absolutely fine!

Megan2018 · 21/03/2019 09:49

It's the shape of the boot that is an issue - as the car is fully electric the battery pack makes the boot not very deep.
We'll have to try lots out to see what fits. I'm going to develop a shortlist and then we will just have to try as many as possible.

Our hallway is large so space at home not an issue and there are no buses where we live so never going to be on public transport. It is just what fits in the car with all the assorted riding crap I also have to carry
We also have pretty much no pavements so all our walking near home will be on grass/mud/rough tracks hence it needs to have good tyres and suspension. Plus when she's older she'll be spending a lot of time out on the Eventing circuit (we can't compete anymore but we will still watch our friends).

I'll need a pushchair from the off though as baby will need to be positioned in it as I do the horse, I don't think it is safe to handle the horse whilst baby wearing. Good as she is I would never forgive myself if she kicked or pushed me over. Baby will be spending a lot of time in the corner of my stable or the arena - she will at least be able to entertain herself by watching the mice Grin
I may not mention this strategy to the HV......

KLane · 21/03/2019 10:10

@Megan2018 We have the Bugaboo Buffalo and it's one of the best on the market for off roading. DS slept like a dream on country walks, totally secure. It doesn't fold tiny but if you take the wheels off (they click right out) it does make it much smaller. Worth considering if you can get it to fit!

Karigan195 · 21/03/2019 10:10

@Megan2018. You don’t need a separate carry cot if you get the right pram from the off. That’s why I wanted the quinny. Last time I had the maxi Cosi Mura which had the same features but the new version is just too bulky.

Features I looked for:

Lie flat comfy newborn seat position.
Suitable for up to 3 years as seat changes recline and ‘bits’ as kid gets older.
Seat pops out and turns round to face parent so that they can watch you talk as it helps language development but turns round again if at the zoo etc
Suitable for off road as we live rural too.

Only we have a t5 van so I didn’t have to worry about fitting in the boot!

Karigan195 · 21/03/2019 10:13

@Megan2018. May I also recommend for when baby is able to hold head up getting some carabiners and a bouncy seat like they sit in doorways :). Hooked my son up in the stable many a time whilst I was mucking out and intend to do the same with this one 😂. I didn’t tell the midwife either

Megan2018 · 21/03/2019 10:26

@KLane
I googled the Bugaboo Buffalo but appears they no longer sell it. I wonder if there is a new equivalent?

I'll look at the Quinny you've gone for @Karigan195 though too.
I definitely want one that can face either way - the Babyjogger City Mini GT looked fab size wise but doesn't have parent facing so ruled that out. Maxi Cosi Nova looks good but I am sure it will be too big.

I'll just have to go to a big store where they have lots of options to try. Will need to get the car cleaned inside first though - it is currently a muddy abomination Blush and it stinks of equine.

I like the tip of the bouncy seat in the stable door though! Definitely give that a go.

I probably will change the car in the next 18 months but can't afford to yet (and I love it anyway). I commute 15,000 miles a year and it only costs £20 a month to charge so not going back to petrol. I'm a full EV convert even if it does impact the boot space a bit.

IVEgottheDECAF · 21/03/2019 10:33

Im not sure if the fox is meant to be the new buffalo, but it is ££££

Stroan · 21/03/2019 11:18

@heather88 thinking of you. I had very similar a few weeks ago and it was all ok, there can be lots of reasons for cramping and bleeding xx
