@CalmerComber welcome and double congratulations!

Toria73 · 15/01/2019 17:26

@CalmerComber, congratulations.
I’m a Jurassic first timer expecting twins too. I’ve known for nearly 2 months & I still spiral into sheer terror if I think about it too much so you’re not alone there.

Twistering · 15/01/2019 17:33

Chinks - so glad you enjoyed it and it went well, really hope the rest of it works out.

Also brilliant news StargazyDrifter, must be so relieved!

I feel so normal, apart from the bloat and big boobs I will prob have the worst late pregnancy/birth ever!

Whoop to more twins, CalmerComber! As one myself, I can vouch to their awesomeness!! :)

Yukka · 15/01/2019 17:59

ooh congratulations @CalmerComber how amazing! and congrats too @Toria73 also!

To be honest I would literally shit myself if they'd said I was having twins. As a 'geriatric' first timer I don't have a clue what I'm doing with one let alone two.

Welshgal1 · 15/01/2019 18:10

Can I join too pleaseSmile
I've read every thread but I have been too scared to join until my 12 week scan as we got off to a rocky start where it looked like I'd miscarried and after that I was a nervous wreck.
I'm 12+5 with my first baby, the scan went great and I can finally relax and start enjoying! Due 25th July Grin

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 18:20

Kentishgal thank you, and not at all - I'm 34, no family history of stuff they look for like Downs etc, first successful pregnany, DH is 39.

BirthdayKake I know what you mean. Not long now!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 18:22

Welcome lovely newbies!!! 🎉 The more, the merrier.

Kentishgal · 15/01/2019 18:53

Congratulations on all the scans today and welcome new people! I told people in work today - I hadn't been in for about a month (I work from home a fair bit but it also just worked out that way) so when I say "told" it was more just a "reveal"!

Stargazydrifter I'm 35 (36 at edd) - I know that has a big impact. Fingers crossed.

Onestep2 · 15/01/2019 19:13

Hello everyone, just checking in!! I've been reading over all the posts.

I've been a bit quiet recently as we have been ripping the house apart. House currently resembles a building site! Tore down fitted wardrobes that had been up since we moved in and discovered they were hiding how badly damaged the walls behind them where so we had to get a SHIT load of plastering done b4 we could even open a tin of paint. Still got another 6-8 weeks of refurb to go. FML

hope everyone is well!!! Xx

Toria73 · 15/01/2019 19:37

@yukka if you’re only classed as geriatric, I’m guessing you’re just a whipper snapper compared to me. My midwife just laughed when I asked her if she meant Jurassic & then promptly changed the subject 😂😂

Yukka · 15/01/2019 20:30

@Toria73 it’s a bit premature to be honest I’m not 40 till next month!! Is the 73 in your name a clue..? That’s not bad going!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 20:44

Kentishgal yes I do think the 35 threshold hikes those numbers up dramatically, in a rather arbitrary way i.e. today I'm 34 and ok, tomorrow I am 35 and higher risk.

I've also today told my two bosses that we can now be open with the wider teams. Saw a consultant today (I'm high risk because of 3 other losses in 2018 before BFP and some ongoing health stuff) and he seemed very happy overall so I've relaxed a bit too. I've had so many absences too, and WFH, that I'd be surprised if people at work hadn't guessed. It's nicer to be 'out' about it. Also starting to feel a leeeetle bit demob happy. Some of the meetings going in are for July, no thanks! 😁

OneStep2 I've been thinking of your renovations a bit. Do make sure you're not breathing in/lifting stuff in a fit of enthusiasm - precious cargo on board!

Toria73 · 15/01/2019 20:54

Yep, told ya I was Jurassic 😱😂

Kentishgal · 15/01/2019 20:56

Stargazydrifter it sounds like you've had quite a traumatic 2018 - but thankfully it ended with good news. That's great you're feeling happier!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 21:05

Thank you! 😊

BeckyButterfly · 15/01/2019 21:20

I had my scan this afternoon and all looks great! Got to listen to the little heartbeat which was amazing. The bean had its thumb in its mouth the whole time!

Got a really good picture though, can’t believe how clear it is.

TwinkleDay · 15/01/2019 21:36

@BeckyButterfly that is adorable! Little thumb sucker aww. It is really clear too like my fred/fredricka!

Congratulations on all with good scans today and twins for new comers omg!

And yes time seems to be going faster now more people know my news. Going to go FB official on Valentine's Day :)

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/01/2019 22:09

Aw @beckybutterfly that's a fab photo ! It's amazing how clear , and how cute he/she is sucking their thumb!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 22:12

❤️ that photo, Becky. Proper little person now, and a bit of personality shining through. So cute.

DianaBlythe · 15/01/2019 22:14

@BeckyButterfly that’s a gorgeous scan. Just so you know your full name is on it and your date of birth, not sure if you’d prefer to crop it? Such a sweet picture with the thumb sucking!

@Startazydrifter not sure if it was just an example or if it really is your birthday tomorrow. If it is then happy birthday!

And welcome to all the newbies. Lovely to have a couple of sets of twins now!

BeckyButterfly · 15/01/2019 22:15

Me and the hubby are really happy, it was so nice to finally see the little one so clearly.

It has also been really nice being able to tell everyone and get excited!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 22:44

Aww DianaBlythe, that's very kind of you. I'm an August baby so just an example. I remember reasing somewhere semi-scentific that summer babies are generally more cheerful souls. I guess we'll find out!

Jxtina86 · 15/01/2019 22:55

So lovely to see and hear about everyone's scans!

To those who have informed their work, have you heard anything from your HR departments? I told my boss a while back but she waited to tell anyone else until I had my dating scan. She emailed HR on my behalf but neither of us have heard anything and just wondering if that's been the case for anyone else? I suspect they won't do anything till I hand in my MatB1 form but just wanted to check what others experiences were!

StargazyDrifter · 15/01/2019 23:43

My work requires a risk assessment each trimester from as soon as the immediate boss knows. We didn't really do one for the first trimester, despite talking about it a few times, and in reality it's all very low risk. But I think we're going to have a more formal chat this week, including a second trimester risk assessment. My main headache for the moment has been working out annual leave and when I can finish work.

BirthdayKake · 16/01/2019 06:35

@BeckyButterfly what a gorgeous picture! So detailed too

I keep dreaming that it's my due date and I'm thinking "Eek, any day now!" then I wake up all disappointed!

I've also read about summer babies being happier. Although I'm late June born and a right grumpy little twat atm!

Don't know if anyone else is a Love Island fan but I found out that Jess who won the first ever series is due 9th July 😂
