Thanks for nappy link Seamonster - will peruse in work time! Re Edies mention of Kiddiecare - my parents in law live in Norfolk and we went to Kiddiecare a few weeks ago and they were fab. We got quite a few bits and pieces there - highly recommended and 100 times more helpful than Mothercare!!

Wishing you all a good day xx

Pennypops · 03/07/2007 09:33

Fio - I was born in Cannock, moved to Derby after Uni

Tinkjon · 03/07/2007 09:52

Kinki, so sorry to hear about DH and the worry about the GTT. Fingers crossed that everything with the GTT will be ok - let us know how you get on!

Anybody fancy giving an opinion on a girl's baby name? Freya or Flora? I love both but the former is getting too popular and I'm not sure I have the confidence to go with the latter (also Flora is really cute for a toddler but not so much for an adult?) Also, DH says "I'm not naming a child of mine after a tub of f*ing margarine"

Re.dressing babies in hot weather - why are the hospital wards so hot all the time?! I was absolutely sweltering in there with DD and it was only March) and even though you're told to dress baby in one extra layer than yourself I was so paranoid about overheating her...

Kinki - sorry to hear abut DH - hope you're ok and not too stressed. What was your GCC result? I you do need to cut out sugar etc, it's not too bad, I mean I miss chocolate but I do feel better for making mself eat much healthier food

MrsMar good luck with the kitty tray- you're a brave woman!

Holly29 - hope you're ok with all your work, it sounds crazy

Well I finally finished packing, my DH is really worried that we'll be overweight so I had to keep sneaking things into the bags when he wasn't looking! Today is also going to be my last day on line our internet is getting cut off later today (I'm really scared about how I'll cope without it!). We fly tomorrow but have a stop off in Hong Kong for a few days, very excited about it! . Once we get to Manila I'm not sure how long it will take to get connected to the net. I'll be thinking of you all and look forward to catching up with everyone's news in a week or so.

Take care everyone, Love FilBrit X

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 10:32

We used to live in Hednesford - in fact 3 doors away from the school gates, my mum lives nearer Cannock now though.

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 10:33

Good Luck Filbrit

canadianmum · 03/07/2007 10:48

mrsfish - definitely having trouble sleeping too, just way too hot, like I have a hot water bottle on me all the time. I am dreading a heatwave. Your DS is absolutely gorgeous btw, as is your hair!!

Freya and Flora - love them both so no help there. I only know one Freya and no Flora's yet so not TOO popular in my circles .

DH put together the changing table and cot at the weekend, I think we are both paranoid about having a 32 weeker again with nothing done and DH having to work all day, visit me in hospital in the evening and then go home and decorate the nursery. Poor sod was absolutely knackered!!

Chattyhan · 03/07/2007 11:04

Filbrit - have a safe trip and enjoy Hong Kong - look forward to hearing from you when you're connected!

I like Freya lol at the margerine comment for me i'd worry about endless jokes/nicknames at school with Flora!

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/07/2007 11:12

kinki - re thread, it makes me giggle now!! Sorry about your possible GTT results, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, also keeping fingers crossed re DH and maternity pay

MrsMar - cats!!!!!!!!! Our cat decided she was going to use a towel that had been left on the floor in the bathroom as her litter tray on Sunday! What's with these animals??????

MrsFish - I'm having a nightmare getting a full night's sleep. I seem to be sleeping SO lightly. Also, silly little things that are on my mind keep waking me up and keeping me awake.... eg hmm should I change the colour of car seat I've ordered, because my colour is our of stock FGS get a life woman!!!!!! WHAT A LOVELY PHOTO!!!

FioFio - sorry to hear you're suffering from every end! Crap crap crap

Jollybaby - engagement point??????????

Tink - your DH sounds just like mine. (clears throat) 'what do you think of Tamsin, I love that name' DH's retort "No way, Tamsin's a 'slags' name" ((whispers, I hope no-one hear is called Tamsin )) I still love Tamsin, DH won't budge. I would agree that Freya is becoming a very popular name, there are quite a few Freya's in school that I know.

Ooh Fio and MrsFish - small world!!!

Filbrit - how exciting!!!!! We look forward to hearing from you in a week or so. I do hope the move goes smoothly. DON'T overdo it will you

Well I'm debating whether to get a moses basket or crib. I started a thread over on pregnancy. The problem was my boys outgrew their moses basket so quickly. I've seen this crib in kiddicare. What do you think?

I was thinking of maybe using the pram for downstairs. We've got a fairly big hallway, so it would fit quite easily there.

HIWBB - very sweet crib and good price too. We have decided to try the Amby nature's nest baby hammock thing but have also got a cot just in case LO hates it.

Tamsin is a lovely name too. I love the name Caitlin but DH hates it, am still hoping he will change his mind.....

Hopeitwontbebig · 03/07/2007 11:24

snap Canadianmum, Caitlin is another one on my list of names. Initially DH 'didn't mind' it, but now he says he doesn't like it What do you do????

DH's suggestion all along has been Evelyn

FioFio - just been for a drive to get ds to sleep and was thinking... you probably don't know me (but pic on profile at bottom so you can make sure} but you will probably know my brother, as he has just turned 30 so you would have been in the same year

MrsFish · 03/07/2007 11:37

HIWBB - That crib is lovely

Pennypops · 03/07/2007 11:39

Bon voyage Filbrit!! >

I look forward to hearing about it in a week or so.

Hopey - I think cribs are completely adorable and they look beautiful but the reason I went for moses basket is that I could potentially reuse it to store toys/linens/odds and sods etc. That was my logic at any rate - if you can call it that.

Tink - I really like Freya and Flora. Wasn't aware of Freya becoming that popular but then I don't know many parents yet either. My only slight reservation with Flora is that while it sounds lovely on a little girl she may not thank you for it when she's 35. Then again she might love it - who knows!

laksa · 03/07/2007 11:52

Morning guys,

Mrsfish, your son looks so cute, he reminds me of my little brother who used to sleep with his hands behind his head in his pushchair Can I ask a personal question? Are you a natural redhead? If so,you might have a lovely auburn haired baby next time

Mrsmar, we have two cats and one has decided to use our downstairs hallway as a toilet as he doesn't like sharing with our other cat ( we have 3 on the go at the moment and it still isn't working) My sis has offered to take him off our hands as he clearly prefers to be an only cat. We are now forced to put a new floor down as cat pee stinks!!

4lbs fiofio?? , I think I put that amount on in just a week! I did feel a little nauseous earlier which was odd as haven't been for weeks, so I went and ate a ginger biscuit and felt better straight away

Jollybaby, I start my nct on the 19july, did you enjoy your first session? What is posterior backalignment, is that when the baby is back to back?

Filbrit, good luck with the move. Hope you have a lovely time in HK. Am very at all the yummy food you will have on your doorstep!

Kinki, hey your dh managed to get more work done in 24 hours than mine has managed in 3 months. At least he is trying to show you he cares which is important.

Thanks for the clearup over babygros/sleepsuits. I do find the overheating issue a bit daunting, the advice about 1 extra layer is good but I always have 1 extra layer on to my dh as we both feel the cold differently . Also the recommended 16-20 degree room temp seems quite low to me. Ok, I am overthinking this issue now so better stop.

Had a bit of panic last night as I got some cream for my eye from pharmacist as could feel something like a stye developing in my eye. I used it and then read the instruction leaflet which said not to take in pregnancy. The pharmacist didn't even warn me I then spent half an hour washing it off and worrying that I might have done serious harm to my baby!

Ok have rambled enough,
Hope everyone is well today.

xx
