Just because I think we’re getting close to filling the first one. Pull up a pew, bring your decaf tea and all of the carbs!

They will take a detailed medical background of both you and DP so it's worth finding out information about his family if you don't know. Any history of disease etc, and babies born in the family with medical issues. They'll normally do height and weight to work out for BMI.

They work out if you need a GTT (different areas have different policies).

They'll go through all the appointments and you responsibilities....do not lose your notes etc. Arrange for referrals if they are needed for anything, and sign post to information you might want.

They'll have a general chat about how you're feeling, and give information/answer questions on anything you want.

You'll get your green book/notes and they will start filling them in.

General straight forward admin stuff really

@Frazzlerock I’m sorry you are so worried about everything, I am feeling just the same as you. It’s so hard isn’t it!
We have another NHS scan a week on Thursday, but we have decided this morning that we can’t wait that long, so I’m going to look into booking a private one towards the end of this week.
Does anyone know if it’s a good sign if pregnancy symptoms are continuing? Or do they continue anyway even if the pregnancy has failed?

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 13:36

BettySwoll0cks I have a scan tomorrow and I will only be 5+4 so I shall let you know what to expect haha. But yeah worth maybe phoning them up and seeing what they say? That is if you can get through to them!

My MW still hasn't phoned me despite receiving an email 10 days ago saying she would be booking in an appointment to see me within 7 days? I've replied to the email to query what is happening. Guess I just want to see MW asap as I am already consultant led (saw consultant already!) and want to know my birth options too

BettySwoll0cks · 12/11/2018 14:01

Thanks TwittleBee and good luck tomorrow with your scan. Smile

Frazzlerock · 12/11/2018 14:15

What time is your scan tomorrow @TwittleBee?

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 14:19

BettySwoll0cks thank you

Frazzlerock 11am, DH is on night shift so he can come with luckily, and DS will be in nursery.

itsallgreek · 12/11/2018 14:34

I had a scan last Tuesday at 5+2 and we only saw the sack and that's about it... Though things change so quickly day from day... I found a site that said that heartbeat starts when your 42 days which is 5+6 in my case based on my last period... My next scan to hear the heartbeat is on Wednesday I'll be 6+3... I can't wait DP hasn't really been as excited as me and he told me today that he doesn't want to lose control till he hears a heart then he'll accept that everything's OK and we're having a baby (hopefully)

Frazzlerock · 12/11/2018 14:45

Ooh @itsallgreek please don't get your hopes up. I was 6+3 on Sat and baby was too small to see/hear heartbeat. That is why I had a meltdown afterwards! I now know that it is normal. If you are dead set on seeing/hearing a heartbeat, I'd wait until you are at the very least 7 weeks. At 6+3 we saw a lovely yolk sac, and a tiny foetal pole. You won't see much more than that. As long as you are prepared for that, then fill your boots Grin

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 14:46

itsallgreek yeah I am not expecting a heartbeat and luckily I do have a view of as long as they see something and it is in a secure and good safe with the right measurements then all should be good! I have pre warned DH about the heartbeat but thankfully he doesnt think I need 2 in me to make me pregnant lol. Although, I can understand why so many want to see the heartbeat. I guess I just think, people sadly have MCs despite seeing a heartbeat. Actually that article Frazzle linked yesterday was a really good read about early scans and stats!

itsallgreek · 12/11/2018 14:48

@Frazzlerock was that with a vaginal approach???

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 14:49

Yeah we all must remember that our cycles are all different lengths and so when ovulation & implantation happened for each of us can mean we all see the heartbeats on different days!

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 14:50

www.brooksidepress.org/Products/OBGYN_101/MyDocuments4/Ultrasound/1st_trimester_ultrasound_scannin.htm

There is the link to that Article itsallgreek if you havent read it yet! Really good find from Frazzle

Frazzlerock · 12/11/2018 14:51

@itsallgreek yes he tried both abdominal and transvaginal

itsallgreek · 12/11/2018 14:57

I read the article it very interesting... Well we will see on Wednesday if they'll be able to find a heartbeat but even just confirmation that my bean is growing and has progressed well since last week then that's a good sign

Frazzlerock · 12/11/2018 15:05

@itsallgreek as long as you don't go in expecting to see a heartbeat then that is all good. I'd hate any of you to have the utter heart sink that I did on Sat all because I had expectations of a 7 week pregnancy when in fact I was only 6+3.

It is a great article isn't it. Fascinating information!

edidxb · 12/11/2018 15:19

Hi @frazzlerock, thanks for the article. I had a good read while I was eating breakfast this morning!
@itsallgreek I had my scan on what I thought was 6 weeks but it turns out I was more like 5+5 and no heartbeat so I am going back next Monday where I should be 7 exactly and hoping for good news then. But my doctor told me not to panic, especially if I still have symptoms.
Good luck @twittlebee for your scan - hope it goes well.
Nice to see you back @idratherbeshowjumping, sorry you had a rough time there for a while.
My constipation has gone the other way now......lovely! And my skin is a mess of large lumps. But I had a productive day at work which has been unusual recently so feel a bit better due to that!
I have so much anxiety about maternity leave and my job and career issues but trying to quieten that voice in my head at the moment.......as soon as one voice goes quiet, another starts.
"maybe you'll miscarry again" then "why I am earlier than I thought" then "I feel rubbish" then "I want to feel rubbish, give me all the symptoms", then "I am so excited" then "how will I cope when I have to work until 8pm and so does my husband, who will look after the baby"
ARRGGHHHHHHH

MrsC87 · 12/11/2018 16:24

Hey all, already posted way down on the thread but wanted to just pipe up again @TwittleBee saw my post on the pregnancy thread.

I was just wondering what others are experiencing symptoms wise? I'm 4 +2 today and don't seem to be experiencing much yet- sore boobs, metallic taste, nausea when hungry, heightened sense of smell!
As it's my first pregnancy I'm googling everything but wondered how others are feeling/have felt?

Also my friend had a missed miscarriage a couple of years ago and it terrifies me. I really want to relax into the pregnancy but won't until I have a scan.

Laburna · 12/11/2018 16:33

That sounds about normal to me @MrsC87, I think it ramps up at about 6 weeks and then mostly disappears before 12 weeks. But they're hormones so nothing is guaranteed, they'll come and go, some days you will have new stuff, some days nothing.

And it's completely normal to be googling everything under the sun!

MyloC · 12/11/2018 17:08

@MrsC87 I’m exactly the same don’t feel a whole lot different other that extremely tired and eating everything.
I booked my first midwife appt and got my scan date so that’s made it feel a bit more real although they both seem ages away!

Twistering · 12/11/2018 17:17

Good luck tomorrow @TwittleBee

And thinking of all of you feeling anxious and shit, I’m with you.

Counting down to my scan 9am Wed, been really helpful to see what may/may not be seen so thanks for sharing girls.

We’ll get there!

TwittleBee · 12/11/2018 17:19

Hello MrsC87 😁 x

Thank you hun Twistering FX crossed for us both this week ey?

Twistering · 12/11/2018 17:21

Absolutely! My friend said she had her eyes and legs crossed for me yesterday which amused me!

In a more positive vein, just had my second precious cup of full fat tea and was wonderful!

RooKangaroo · 12/11/2018 17:22

Hello!

Can I join, please? I've been lurking for a week or so but haven't mustered up the courage to join and admit this is real.

I'm 5 weeks today (though due to ovulation date I think I'm a few days behind that, actually), and I have a 2-year old daughter. Due in the middle of July.

Wishing everyone a healthy and boring pregnancy!

RooKangaroo · 12/11/2018 17:24

@MrsC87, very normal not to have any symptoms for six weeks, I think.

Last time I had pretty bad nausea and sickness from 6 weeks to 22 weeks. Hoping that either starts later or finishes earlier this time round! 🤞

Toria73 · 12/11/2018 17:25

@itsallgreek If it's any help, I'm getting an early scan on Thursday because although my spotting had stopped by lunchtime, the cramps are back with a vengeance today. I will be 6+2 & the nurse made it very clear to me that I wasn't to expect to see a heartbeat as it is still v early days.
@Frazzlerock thanks for sharing that article, I'd read it yesterday so I knew in advance not to expect a heartbeat this week.
