@PaulHollywoodsSexGut babe you have my utter sympathies. I work in schools - fart central. I walked past a group of young boys earlier and it was like walking past a herd of cattle.

stellarfox · 08/11/2018 20:58

@toomanyflatwhites I totally agree with what you said. It’s good we are all open with what’s happening but at the same time it has made me really nervous as we’ve had a number of ladies have bad news the last couple of weeks! I was really tempted to book a private scan for reassurance but I’ve got 2 weeks until our scan so I think I’m going to try to hold off for then! Im trying to not think about pregnancy too much until then!

I’m all about food right now. Im loving junk food like dairylea dunkers, pepperami and cheese toasties 😅 We’ve booked a roast for Sunday too which I am so looking forward to!

Torsz · 09/11/2018 05:33

I'm the same - it's heartbreaking to see so many lovely ladies with sad news, and I definitely think they should share and get as much support as possible but it definitely makes it more 'real' and I'm getting increasingly nervous about my scan next thurs!
I guess we need to remember that there are a huge number of us on this thread and the stats mean that there's bound to be good and bad news. I agree that we just have to be here for each other and try not to worry, but it's hard!

Fabuluce · 09/11/2018 06:02

I definitely agree with you ladies - good and bad news should be shared and aired. It does make it very real though and scary. I was amazed at my booking in appt that they don't actually do any checks at all to see if you're pregnant but I guess the Doppler isn't reliable until you're going into your second tri and there's not much else they can do as I believe the pee test starts to become unreliable. It's weird though isn't it. Roll on next Wednesday and my next scan - I just want to make sure this little life is still there!

toasterstrudle · 09/11/2018 06:26

I'm sorry, I'm probably a bit of an oversharer of the bad things that happened. I have had a straightforward pregnancy and a gorgeous DS! I think also we're more likely to remember the bad news as it sticks out. I have to keep reminding myself the statistics are in our favour! (And I'm probably going to spend a fortune on private scans)

socktastic · 09/11/2018 07:04

I've got my booking in appointment this morning at 9.15. (Cant believe its taken so long!) Im about 7+4 and I'm terrified. Once again, I'm just not feeling it. Since being quite sick at the beginning of the week, I don't seem very nauseous now. Boobs a little bit sore but I know that comes and goes. I've had no spotting or cramps of any sort, just twinges. With my son, the nausea started bang on 7 weeks and lasted till about 14 weeks. I guess I'm just worrying as I had loss of symptoms with my mmc and just didn't realise what had happened until the scan. Also had more straightforward mcs which I'm scared of happening again although those were earlier on.

fee1234 · 09/11/2018 08:06

@socktastic hope it goes well!

I agree with others, I love that we can be so open and honest about everything, I mean that's the point of this board - I feel like we can say things here that we can't say to people in real life. However that does come with good and bad points, as for most boards like this people do tend to share worries etc a bit more than happiness, which can add to our own worries.

We have come this far together, I can't believe I've been lucky to stick around to make it past 10 weeks. I take each day as it comes.

Skee · 09/11/2018 08:21

Hello everyone 👋

I’ve not checked in for a while, I’m absolutely shattered with work - leaving at 5:30am most mornings and driving about 6hr round trips for a couple of appointments... urgh... busy season in the first trimester 😩

So sorry to hear of recent losses 😞

Huge congratulations and welcome to now joiners! x x x

SassehMonsta · 09/11/2018 10:57

Reastie, I am denying the GTT this time as well. I discussed it with my midwife and she made a note on my notes about it. Happy to be treated as a diabetic as long as I am eating more than just random stuff by then!

jacque - yes! I went to aquanatal last night and my swimming top/tankini thing felt so tight I had to roll it up like a bikini!

Skee, hello there! When does your busy period end? Mine was Sept/October being year end and things are settling down again now.

Whoever posted that BRAIN link, thanks, it was superuseful and an interesting read.

I am off work Mon-Wed next week, with scan on Monday 1pm, hearing appointment at another hospital at 3.15pm, then Wednesday DH is also off work while DD is at nursery. Think we are going to the cinema if we can! Really looking forward to it, though need to set some things up before I leave work today.

Reastiepeace · 09/11/2018 11:16

Sass sounds like you have more balance and time to rest with days off next week, yay. FWIW with gtt all I had to do was initially see a diabetic nurse who told me about healthy eating and gave me a blood sugar monitor and then I had to do blood sugar readings I think every morning first thing and half an hour after breakfast and the same with dinner (I think, from memory). I had to email the nurse the readings every week and they were always normal for me bar one once slightly high. I didn’t adjust my diet in any way so I don’t think I had gtt but I was happier doing this than the gtt.

hexagon01 · 09/11/2018 11:26

It’s funny reading about other people’s work stuff as I’m thinking of working an extra day (currently do 3 days) so that I can put my son in nursery as work is more restful haha. My nausea has calmed a lot, which is what happened last time too so I’m actually feeling fairly chill about it (very unlike me). Toddler is currently napping in the pram so I sacked off what we went out to go to double back so I could lie down in bed, hope he has a nice long sleep!

So bored of first trimester already and only 8+1, truly wishing the time away.

JBCG · 09/11/2018 11:49

Had my scan. Saw a heartbeat!! He said I’m measuring between 7+0 and 7+3 which pushes me back a bit but I wasn't sure of my dates anyway. He wants to see me again in 2 weeks for another scan unless I start bleeding heavily in the meantime (but he didn't seem too concerned about that happening). I’m so relieved .. I feel like I can sort of stop living in fear constantly .. well not properly, still got at least 5 weeks of fear 🤷🏻‍♀️ but less fear!

Kescilly · 09/11/2018 11:55

@JBCG that's amazing!!! I'm so pleased for you, I know you have had so much stress these past few weeks. Hope you can do something to relax and celebrate tonight.

LauralovesLuke · 09/11/2018 11:55

Hi all,
I think I'm a bit late to the party!

I'm currently 6/5 and due 30th June with my first.

I've joined this thread in the hope that I can read some lovely birth stories nearer the time and not feel so anxious!

Torsz · 09/11/2018 12:14

That's awesome @JBCG - congratulations!! Lovely to have a good outcome 🤗🤗🤗

Reastiepeace · 09/11/2018 12:21

JBCG that’s made my day, fantastic.

Laura there’s a great book by ina May gaskin about childbirth which has lots of positive birth stories and birth info, it was the only book I read that didn’t completely freak me out!

mindthechaos · 09/11/2018 12:22

@JBCG - so happy for you! It’s so weird that I am so happy for someone I’ve never even met, but reading your past couple of weeks had me wishing nothing but the best for you.

Hi Laura. If your particularly anxious, mention it to your midwife. I was so nervous last time after dd1s birth, but she really helped

mindthechaos · 09/11/2018 12:24

Btw- can anyone make me feel a bit better about my diet at the moment. Cant stomach any meat or most daily basics but am eating my weight in sushi atm!

jacquejacque · 09/11/2018 12:36

@mindthechaos

Today I have eaten:

2 slices seeded toast and butter (threw this up)
2 mini twixes
Bowl of veg soup (almost threw it up)
Mini chocolate slab thing

That's a good day for me. The veg soup is the healthiest thing I've eaten in ages!

Yesterday I had a dirty petrol station bacon and cheese bagel and a creamy pasta thing all before 11:30am.

jacquejacque · 09/11/2018 12:38

@JBCG oh what wonderful news - that's made me a snivelling mess. What a relief!! I'm so happy for you.

I'm sorry you're still anxious, I know exactly how you feel and am here for a hand hold when needed xx

Blondcat · 09/11/2018 12:46

@mindthechaos I feel nauseous for most of the day with a few trips to the loo for dry heaving. I am basically eating from when I get up to when I go to bed! So far today I have had large bowl of muslei banana ham and cheese sarnie and a couple of crackers. Had fish and chips from the chippy for dinner last night so tried couldn't face cooking. Spicy food seems to be great for me as makes me feel much less sick so had homemade chilli and curry in the last week (frozen from a few weeks ago). I think you just have to do what you can to get through it I am trying not to worry about it (plenty of other things to worry about).

Hoping second trimester I will feel much better and get back to the gym plus eat normal healthy food again.

toomanyflatwhites · 09/11/2018 12:51

@mindthechaos I woke up this morning and my first thought was - hurrah, more chances to eat 🤣No puking for me (thankfully) so it's all going straight on my hips.
Yesterday I ate macdonalds for lunch (which I never ever ever do) and it was so bloody amazing (and I didn't have heartburn after!) so I was v tempted to have same again today. Instead am having very rich max & cheese which is probably no better! I have 2 breakfasts every day, snack throughout the day and the only vaguely healthy thing (usually) is dinner. I remember this from last pregnancy too, am sure after the first trimester the ability to eat veg and be a bit healthier does come back!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 09/11/2018 12:54

Wonderful news @JBCG Smile

toomanyflatwhites · 09/11/2018 12:57

Just caught up properly @JBCG this is such wonderful news!!!

toasterstrudle · 09/11/2018 13:04

@JBCG congratulations!!

Good news here as well so I'm going to allow myself to start getting excited now. Measuring 8+5 at my scan so I'm now forward two days with due date 16th July. Heartbeat seen.

Relief!!
