or else I think "S* what HAVE I done!!".

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 09:39

Mmmm...maybe! You might get to hear some birth horror stories and all about sleepless nights and bfing woes! That'll be fun!

justbeme · 22/06/2007 10:01

Theres not many of us left now is there? and quite a few people on the Stats havent been heard of since have they??

Also 7lb 60z seems to be a common birth weight this month doesnt it?

Well, Ive watched "Heirhunters" (last in series), shame I didnt inherit any money! I think I'll go and tidy something - my kitchen cupboards look good candidates - Speak later

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 10:24

morning all! How is everyone today?

I'm paying for my day yesterday! Have a permanent stitch-like pain. Am trying to shift her over, but she's not having it.

Have just whizzed around and managed to get the house in some sort of order again. Looks like a shite-hole, wish she'd come so I can stop panicking about 'if I'm ready' and start eating all that bloody food in the freezer!

Did anyone else cry at Eastenders last night when Dawn gave birth?

bumperlicious · 22/06/2007 10:25

Hi! Just grabbing a quick bit of toast and juice while I can!

Thinking of you Holly, won't be long (can't be as long as TA ffs!)

God, I'm so stiff, and very tired. Manging to snatch an hour and half or so here and there. So glad to be home though. 1st night DD slept 6 hours and I didn't sleep a wink coz I was so wired still and the two other women in my bay were snoring! Grrrr!

Think we are bfing ok, nipple fucking hurt though, but I think in a "god this is new is she ever going to stop" kinda way rather than a doing it wrong kinda way. Doe that sound right? I know they say if it hurts you are doing it wrong, but I think my nips just need a break!

Stitches are pretty sort too, yuk. Won't scare those of you that are left with my war stories yet though (at least I'll try not to!).

Positive birth vibes to everyone else.

Hi Ria! Huge congratulations! Hope you feel better soon. What a roller coaster!

Got some Lansinoh cream Bumper?

Sounds like you are doing very, very well. Its not easy and you sound relaxed and calm - half the battle in my opinion!

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 10:32

My house is a permenant shit hole atm foxy. I don't have the energy to do anything. I'll just wait til tomorrow then dp can help me.

Sorry you didn't sleep last night bumper, I was exactly the same after dd was born. The ward was so noisy and I hurt so much, all I did was watch tv all night! The sore nips do get better, when your milk comes in it all seems to get a bit easier (and a bit soggier!)! Glad you are doing well!

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 10:38

Bumper, has your milk come in yet?

I just wanted to mention that for me the day my milk comes was an odd one the very first time.

Can you get DH to get you a savoy cabbage and keep it in the fridge so its nice and cold?

I found it to be an emotional rollercoaster of a day (day 3 it was), so you might just want to snuggle up and wait for the day to pass. Just wanted to warn you what it was like for me because it took me by surprise and I've never forgotten it!

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 10:43

Yeah, it is a bit of a crazy day when the milk comes in! It does make bfing easier though as bubs doesn't have to suck so hard to get something out, it just sort of sprays out! Also with the stitches bumper I found the best place to sit was between two sofa cushions so your sore fanjo is in the gap! Oh and have a jug of warm salty water ready to pour over yourself when you wee! Just a few things there that I found helped!

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 10:47

I've heard to keep a box of 'ice pops' in the freezer, wrap them in a hanky and 'pop them in your pants'.

If I didn't have a bucket fanny I'd do it, but has anyone else used this top tip?

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 10:52

Hopefully I have a bucket fanny now, so won't need stitches this time! The ice pop thing sounds like a good trick, can you re-freeze and eat them afterwards ?

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 10:54

Don't think the kids would care!

Em missed me yesterday and just wants to cuddle me, and I'm getting knarky 'cos I'm in so much pain!

I want to cry. I did yesterday a couple of times. Its exactly like PMS, getting hormone surges. And I have no sense of humour today.

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 11:00

Alice is the same foxy, she just keeps climbing on me. The worst is when she grabs or elbows a boob, then I get cross! It's really hard because she doesn't understand and is just trying to be affectionate, but the more I try and stop her hurting me the more she wants a cuddle! It's a no win situation!

Sorry you are feeling so shitty, maybe we can just feel shitty together!

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 11:02

I think we need a new thread title seeing as TA's baby is actually here!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 22/06/2007 11:02

Mornin

So good to hear from you Bumper - sounds like you're doing great.
I was wondering if you found that the hypnotherapy actualy worked? Or is it a waste of time? I'm doing it everyday now and it is becoming a bit of a chore..... not that I've got anything else to do now I've become a proper agrophobic and don't dare to go out in public anymore!

I think it was Holly that said the same yesterday? - Feelin shit - no clothes that fit etc etc.

I'm so impressed with your proper day out yesterday Foxy - you should be very proud of yourself!

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 11:05

Yep, it was me dkma! I am huge and people keep staring at me and all my tops leave a bit of a gap of skin on show at the bottom of my tummy. Which is so not a good look! I either walk around constantly holding my trousers up or top down or don't go out. I'm opting for the not going out approach!

bumperlicious · 22/06/2007 11:07

Btw, not ignoring you, this bloody thread keeps crashing my browser [grr!].

Currently worshiping at the feet of lansinoh!

Bumper, if its her latch that's wrong, your nipples will be mis-shapen when they come out. ie wedge shaped or flattened on one side. If that's the case try re-positioning her slightly (I had Em too far round under my arm....the nose level with your nipple I though was up and down the way, but its also left to right). When I finally got it right, the relief was enormous and my cracked nipples cleared up within a day.

She's now not latching on very deeply, so we get all sorts of clucking and slurping at let down, so i keep having to take her off and start again. She also has a nasty habit of pulling back and pinging them (not nice) or grabbing them with her scratchy little fingers (especially not nice when I was all cracked and sore). She won't open her mouth wide enough and tucks her chin down to her chest rather than tilting her head back, but hopefully she's getting the message. The car battery is helping

She's now registered....now we can get the child benefit form sent off!

foxybrown · 22/06/2007 11:10

Hi DKMA! How are you today?

Yes, I meant to ask you the same Bumper, was the CD any good to you in labour. I fall asleep to it every night, so not sure how much good it'll do me!

Yes please Holly, can we be bags of shite together today? I'm feeling a bit needy!!

daisyboo · 22/06/2007 11:13

Oh, I got the "ultimate insult" yesterday....I was walking up the stairs in Bravissimo and there was a rather portly lady in front of me. She half turned to me, smiled and said "these stairs are bad enough when you're not pregnant..." I just smiled thinking murderous thoughts all the while.

We bumped into her again in Boots and when she saw the pram she looked rather shamefaced!!

bumperlicious · 22/06/2007 11:13

Boobs feel a bit different today, sort of boingy - but not sure if milk has come in properly, I'm guessing I will "just know" when it has. If she was born on Wednesday is that day 1? In which case today is day 3. I'm just sitting around with my baps out trying to get some air to them!

My mum is on her way anyway, promising to do housework for us while we chill. After all my worries she has been fab! She came down for the birth and made it with about half an hour to spare. She popped into the room and I just said "I'm about to deliver this baby!" and she said "Oooh, do you want me to wait outside?" But she stayed and was brill, then went home that night, and popping up just for the day today. She may come and stay for a few days when DH goes back to work.

Hope it won't be too long for you guys now.

Can I book my place on the 'bags of shite' day please too?
I'm so bored of this! I never thought I'd actually want to have sore nips and stitches around my arsehole - but I'm actualy quite looking forward to that now
Bumper - what does your LO look like? And how's your mum?

bumperlicious · 22/06/2007 11:14

Re: the CD, my labour was so fast that there wasn't really a lot of build up so I guess it didn't really work for me as I just didn't have the time to try and relax. And when you are pushing the last thing you are bloody thinking about is that bloody comfort dial!

OP posts:
Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 22/06/2007 11:15

Sorry X post Bumper - chuffed your mums ok!

hollyandalice · 22/06/2007 11:17

Oh and to top things off I've just discovered I've run out of nappies! AAAAAAARRRRRRRRSSSSSEEEEE!!!

I'm sat in my bedroom with the window open and someone is cooking some sort of garlicky dish somewhere. The smell is wafting in throught the window and is making me feel hungry! It smells yummy! Better than earlier when the wind was blowing horrid salty sea air at me!

Glad the bfing is going better for you daisy, sounds like you've got the hang of it now!
