we are in a town just north of london. DH has family in Dorset and my parents are on holiday in Bournmouth atm, but its a bit far from Plymouth I think posting would be easier, I will pay for postage, of course

choudru · 17/06/2007 22:31

Evenin All,

Just got back from the big smoke. Had a lovely time - BBQ on saturday while it was raining he he. But was in great company so was a top laugh

Sunday met up with some friends down Edgware Rd and then took DS to Regents Park. He had a great time

Littleoldme - see you in a couple of weeks then honey. Sparkly - glad you've found a yoga class nearby. If nothing else it gets you out chatting to other pregnant women!

Pixie and Purplepants - glad to hear good progress reports

RG - congrats on LO finally booting your insides hard enough for you to feel. May it be the first of many

As for what we need/already have - I haven't given it too much thought yet. Should learn my lesson from last time though - when DS was born at 7 months we had bought one toy and that was it!

All you really need is a spare drawer and some blankets for baby to sleep in

choudru · 17/06/2007 22:32

FCH - if you read this in time - good luck with your scan tomorrow!

RGPargy · 17/06/2007 22:58

Evening Choudru! Glad you had a great weekend!

Off to bed now everyone. Take care, speak tomoz xxxx

RGPargy · 18/06/2007 11:27

Morning Campers!!

How's everyone doing today?

choudru · 18/06/2007 15:51

Afternoon Campers,

Just been very organised and sorted out all diary dates. All yoga, midewife and antenatal classes entered into the diary.

Needed to get it sorted because kept double booking myself!

Not got another midwife appointment until I'm 28 weeks - seems like a long way away.

Decided I will stop taking on any work at 7 months - am self employed at the moment so no maternity benefits this time

FCH - Hope all went well today, looking forward to hearing from you.

Enjoy tomorrow Choudru and AnnainNZ.

HB/HWB - I'm hoping for one or the other, am getting support from my MW but have been told that since my BMI falls in the obese category it's consultant led care for me and looking dicey on the HB/HWB front.
Apparently there's an increased risk of shoulder dystocia (baby's shoulder gets stuck, it can result in fatalities if not sorted out quickly).

I'm gutted but am looking on the bright side as mw points out I was the same weight when I had my girls (vaginally) and she'll keep me at home as long as she can.

So, do you reckon I should proceed as If i'm going to have a HWB? (i.e. take my chances) or just be happy with the chances of a HB?

Thanks easywriter - I'll log in tomorrow evening to update you. Can't believe I could find out tomorrow whether I will be adding a son or a daughter to my little family

Littleoldme - the motorway was pretty hazardous actually because of the torrential rain up to the midlands. Passed about 4 accidents on the way - including one car on it's roof and one facing the wrong way.

I used to be such a reckless driver before having DS but am a lot calmer now. Calmed down the day I found out I was pregnant with him!

Good luck to anyone trying for HM or WB. Please keep us posted with progress - I let myself get talked out of it with DS (before I knew he was going to be a premmie) and it really annoys me that I didn't argue back more. The fact that I couldn't have had one in the end is beside the point - the point is I should have been able to plan to have one without be scared out of it.

My 2 year old DS is currently bashing my head with my mobile phone. Can I cope with another son???!!!!!!

easywriter · 18/06/2007 21:08

'Course you can. Brain cells are grossly over-rated anyway Chou!

RGPargy · 18/06/2007 21:09

Hi girls

I also want a HWB and was told by my consultant that i would "not meet the criteria" to have one. When i said this to my MW she said it was probably because (a) it's been 17 years since i last gave birth and (b) my BMI is over 40

My MW said that at the end of the day it was up to me where i wanted to give birth and no one could force me to have my baby in hospital.

I'm just really paranoid about NOT being in a horrible hospital room with a bed in the middle and me laying flat on my back in labour. It was like that 17 years ago and i DO NOT want to go through that again!!!

choudru · 18/06/2007 21:15

RG - That sounds so clinical and medieval. No wonder you don't want a repeat experience.

Easy - I didn't have that many brain cells to start with...

RGPargy · 18/06/2007 21:20

Exactly Choudru!! It was horrible!

Yes Loopy, it's encouraging isn't it

Now that she's said that, i'm seriously re-considering a HWB again. Yay!

easywriter · 18/06/2007 22:40

Loopy - sorry for being extremly thick but can you give me more directions to the yahoo homebirth group. I just can't find them (can't work yahoo is what I mean really ).

easywriter · 18/06/2007 22:46

RGPargy - It's good to have someone like Loopy on board, as Choudru says, it's all to easy to be unsupported and to never go for what you'd really like.

I think you may be like me in so much as this may well be the last time I get pregnant, (dp would love 4 kids but lives in fear of 5 and since we had twins the first time...) and I really feel that I owe it to myself to try and have the birth that I want.
