Flannel or abby wipe- same thing really RG. Once it has poo on it then fold it up adn put it in the bag. Empty bag into bucket having first disposed of the poo down the loo (justa quick shake lol) and then evry few days throw it all in the machine. 1 tablet - or half the amount of powder- and then bang it on 40 or 60. Out tey come sparkling clean

Honestly- it really is that easy

jetgirl · 29/06/2007 21:17

Hi All,

We use motherease one size nappies, they've been brilliant. I've started dry-pailing as well which makes it even less messy, I just add tea tree oil to the fabric softener drawer. What with my lovely new washing machine the nappies have never been cleaner! And don't they look lovely on the washing line in the sunshine!!

Holland and Barrett have a good deal on tea tree oil at the mo too.

Worrymummy - I have the teenage ones too. They're an odd bunch aren't they? I was on duty in the isolation room today - where the naughty ones get sent, they're usually the aggressive ones too - and was telling a child to sit properly, stop talking, face the wall etc. and he yelled back at me without looking at me, then turned round, saw my pregnant belly, apologised for being rude and sat down!

I've been in mat trousers for a month now, though have some lovely 'ordinary' trousers from Gap that I bought last time round and which fitted until I was about 8 month pg as they're quite low slung.

Have a week with the in-laws coming up, this will be fun!

Ooh, and I've added my scan pic to my profile page as well as a pic of my dd.

littleoldme · 29/06/2007 21:29

Jet - fun - do I detect the merest hint of irony

I love my in laws they are fab but my mil had an awful pg experience and so has a different take on pg and sometimes says innocent things that make me step back in amazement.

She's better since I let her start knitting.

I feel terrible today.. I am breathless, have a pain under my rib, and am so uncomfortable Doesn't help that my girls have been playing up for the last 4 nights, and refusing to go to sleep till gone 9:30pm I think I have made a mistake thinking we could have another baby and it would be ok

RGPargy · 29/06/2007 21:53

Jet - wow your scan picture is really clear!! Lovely pic of DD too

SGK - So sorry to read you've not been feeling right. Sorry to hear about your DDs are playing up too. It's always the way too isn't it - when you're not feeling your best and they decide to play up. Try and rest up as much as you can. Everything WILL be ok with this LO, dont worry.

xxxx

sparklygothkat · 29/06/2007 21:59

thing is they want to share a room, they will have to share as soon as we sort out the bedrooms, to make way for the baby, we let them share a bed, they then fight, scream, and run about. WE go to seperate them and they scream and hit me Then they scream that they want to share.. they are drving me mad!!!!

RGPargy · 29/06/2007 22:08

Tell them they can share the room but not the beds because they dont behave themselves when they do so. Maybe that would encourage them to be a bit better behaved at bed times?? Poor you SGK!

sparklygothkat · 29/06/2007 22:11

We will have to sort out the rooms next week. The girls are going into DS' room with bunkbeds, and DS will be going into dd2's room, with the baby having Dd1's room. I ended up putting dd2 into DS's room on his pull out bed tonight, but then dd1 was screaming at me that she was alone.. and wanted me to sleep with her, she is 7 ffs!!!

sparklygothkat · 29/06/2007 22:26

we have to paint the rooms too, thought atm I am inclined to just move them into the rooms, and paint when they are in the rooms.

Pixiefish · 30/06/2007 08:45

Don't go painting SGK. If no one else can do it then leave it till the baby's been born

ara · 30/06/2007 14:56

happy weekend everyone!

yikes, it's been busy since i was last on AND there's been a barney!! hope everyone has had a good week and all bumps are well.

i have loved reading about the wipe recipes and real nappies...i was thinking about buying a 'birth to potty pack' - does anyone know if these are any good - ie if there is enough in there to ensure you don't have to supplement it?

RGPargy - I'm so glad there's someone else out there who isn't looking so much pregnant as chubs. i look like i've got a whole separate baby growing in my midriff at the moment...so not a good look.

SGK - my sister and i used to be exactly the same as your girls sound......commiserations!! good luck with them.

ara · 30/06/2007 15:13

......anyone else's chest going completely mental?? my (pretty much brand new) G-cups are getting tight--aaargh

RGPargy · 30/06/2007 18:54

ara - my chest seems to have stopped growing at the moment, althought i'm not sure if it's just because i'm squeezing them into a cheapo sports-type non-underwired bra. Does the trick tho so i'm not bothered. It's when they spill over the top that i'll start getting concerned.

ara · 30/06/2007 19:50

i seem to be back to the 'four boob' look all of a sudden. drat. i thought they were supposed to stabilise for a while at this stage?!!!!

Hi

Yep - my boobs have gone beserk. I have gone up a back size and 2 cup sizes! And I am already on the curvy side and didn't really need the extra .

And, if anyone else makes the comment 'your baby isn't going to go hungry' i may scream/cry/whack them depending on how hormonal i feel at the time....

Pixiefish · 30/06/2007 21:14

Loopysmummy. I started off with Motherease one size for day use and Tots Bots for the night. I had the Motherease Airflow wraps with them. I had no bother at all with them.

BUT I needed more so I bought different types- only a couple of each type though. I love the minki for night use and the Slinki minki for day use. I had a fuzzi buns and a wonderoo. The wonderoo leaked- I have since found out the material was crap but they have been bought out by babykind now and are meant to be loads better.

I had Ella's house hemp nappies which were fab and I got on with the kissaluv's.
I had tots bots fleece wraps which are fab at night but not so good for day use. I also bought some other hemp ones which I can't for the life of me remember what they were called but they were fab.

The Bumble and the Bimble from easy peasy were good as well.
I tended to stick tot he Motherease airflow wrap[s though.

What i would do if I was new to nappies is to have a look at the agents list on the Babykind website and see if there's an agent localish to you. The best way is to see the nappy and wrap and see the different systems that you can have. here are the agents

Personally I never tried the shop systems (Kushies etc) as I heard bad things about them so never went near them

ara · 30/06/2007 21:38

I know the feeling holly - if there's one thing i did not need....!

loads of info loopy and pixie!! thank you. i have just been seeing these things all over the place - there seem so many it's hard to know what to try. i will have a look at the babykind site and see what's what.

RGPargy · 30/06/2007 21:45

Blimey, so many brands and different sorts of these "real nappy" thingies!!

Jossiejump · 30/06/2007 21:48

Told DS's about baby the other day and they were really pleased-then this morning DS2 (aged 3) got into bed with me, prodded my chest, said are there two babies in there, when I said no, he said Oh I thought these were their heads!!
I think I need to explain a little more!!
DS1 has asked how does it get out, which I explained easily, but thankfully not how does it get in there

RGPargy · 30/06/2007 21:54

hahahaha @ jossiejump!!! Bless 'em!!! That really made me chuckle!!

choudru · 30/06/2007 22:04

LOL @ Jossie's DS

Kids and the things they say!

I am having a creative evening of designing some new henna patterns. Is giving me backache so decided to have a break and check up on MN. Eating mango as I type - very sweet and yummy.

Doesn't eating mango while pregnant result in a hairy baby?!

Oops.

I'm very upbeat as I have sorted out a place to move to and we will be moving in 3 weeks. In plenty of time for my ickle hairy baby to arrive

I will be reading all this real nappy information again in a few weeks when I am ready to make a decision on which ones to buy. I can't believe what a lot of useful info I have gained - I barely new a thing about them before and now I've pretty much decided I will be trying them.

About boobs - mine have grown a lot but slowed down now. And unlike some of you buxom lasses - I take any cleavage enhancement where I can get it!

Also, I think I have decided to get a phil and ted double buggy for DS and soon to arrive DD. They are very dear but DH is an expert at getting the cheapest price for things and if that fails, I'll look for a second hand one.

Anyone else thought about how they will deal with transporting a toddler and a baby?
