We have run out of space on the other thread.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cyee · 08/07/2007 05:04

Yikes!
I can't believe it could be happening. I'm actually due today as well!
Are you planning a HB? Sounds exciting

MelissaM · 08/07/2007 06:13

Yep I'm planning a homebirth. Just spent 45 mins in the bath which really helped. I almost nodded off between contractions. I'm due tomorrow, but hope I don't have to keep going on like this for another 24 hrs. It's not horrendously painful, but I can't sleep.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/07/2007 06:23

Oooh live birth thread! Good luck Cyee and Melissa. I had a birth ball for my pregnancy, but when in labour, it was the LAST thing I wanted to do. Far too uncomfortable.

Chrissybobs · 08/07/2007 06:24

Thanks for your welcome message Justbeme. Hang in there I'm sure things will start happening soon, nothing for me yet but I'm due Wed.

Another congratulations to Bubbles, I hope mine goes as smoothly!

Cyee and Melissa, I can't believe all this live action. It may even be all over for you both already but good luck to you-I'm very excited for you both.

MelissaM · 08/07/2007 06:40

Welcome Chrissybobs. LO not here yet.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/07/2007 06:44

Welcome Chrissybobs, missed you before. I'm not due for 2 weeks, but have planned homebirth too. No action here.

Caroline1852 · 08/07/2007 07:22

Lots of people up with the lark this morning! Congrats to bubble and welcome to your beautifully named little daughter.
JAM- My biggies are very helpful so actually nice to have them around (another pair of hands to hold a baby or make a cup of tea for me ). I have a new cleaner coming on Monday so have a week to get caught up with housework before c-section on Monday week. The big boys finish school next week and the week after so not too many more days of uniforms, PE kit, cricket whites etc so that should ease the washing/ironing and running around to pick up and collect burden. It is actually all very good timing! Roll on a week on Monday I am so so so bored of being so mentally and physically slow now.
Does anyone know when to start taking arnica (and how much) for planned c-section?

OP posts:
MelissaM · 08/07/2007 08:08

Caroline, I think you need to start taking arnica either on the day or the day before your planned c-section.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/07/2007 08:16

Caroline the strength should be the 100C I'm told or higher (higher number) if you can find it, but unsure of how frequently you take it. You need to avoid strong tasting foods around the time you take it, mints, toothpaste, tea, coffee as these can affect homeopathic effectiveness.

Chrissybobs · 08/07/2007 08:43

Thanks JensterSS and Melissa. I can see that MM is going to be quite addictive!

That's great that you are both having HB's. Wish I could but had an emergency CS last time so I will be off to hospital and just hoping for a normal delivery.

Melissa, I hope your pains aren't too bad, are you planning on any pain relief?

marchbunny · 08/07/2007 09:04

Hi - MarchBunny had a baby boy - Sam - at 11:56pm on 07/07/2007 ! 7lb 12oz - ouch !!!!

Mum still in hospital - all well with baby and mum - hopefully be home by lunchtime today 08/07/07) - Marchbunny will fill in all the gory details in due course !

Other two absolutely thrilled - and over excited - and full of sweets etc !!!!!

Dad - knackered ! - it's a hard life !

Good luck to those still waiting and congrats to all those who have had a result.

dewmeadow · 08/07/2007 09:06

ALl this live action is amazing! Good luck girlies!

When you're in labour, do you bounce on the ball between or during contractions or both?

Im also bored waiting and cant wait to see my LO and know which type Ive got this time! And then we can cut down on the names we dont agree on by half.

The skin around my enormous bump feels so stretched that it is painful. Anyone else?

dewmeadow · 08/07/2007 09:07

o yes Jennster - what about those pesky slugs?

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/07/2007 09:12

The buggers are destroying my vegetables. Nothing is growing! At least my greenhouse is ok...touchwood.

dewmeadow · 08/07/2007 09:55

What are you growing? We've a veg patch too, though I havent been near it this year because of hugeness and exhaustion. Its in our wee orchard (we live in an old cottagey house )which has old apple and pear trees and loads of berries and currants. Yesterday DD and DS were eating the raspberries off the canes - isnt taht a lovely picture?

MelissaM · 08/07/2007 11:35

Chrissybobs, I'm using TENS at the moment. If these contractions ever get closer together (other than when I am out for a walk!) then hopefully the midwife with bring gas & air, and I have pethidine as a back up. Hopefully I will be able to cope with those and paracetamol . The worst thing is not knowing how long this is going to go on for as I am already shattered!

Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Marchbunny and welcome to Sam. Hope you are all doing well

Anyone heard from twoplusone?

Groveregg · 08/07/2007 11:37

Oo how exciting, good luck Melissa and Cyee, hope things are going well!

And congrats to Marchbunny and Bubble, and anyone else I've missed. Things are really hotting up aren't they?

Can't wait for my turn now even though I'm not due until 25th - but better hang on as some of my potential babysitters for ds are out of action for a week...

Cyee · 08/07/2007 11:50

Hi all - in much same position as MelissaM - can't sleep but not necessarily getting anywhere. They aren't excruciating though. Just got rid of some visitors so hoping to leap around a bit and get things moving. I cannot bear the thought of this dragging on... but know it happens all the time.

Welcome Chrissybob.

Congrats MarchBunny and welcome Sam!

Birthy vibes to everyone!

Myfairone · 08/07/2007 12:13

Mr & Mrs Marchbunny...Congratulations!!!! And you managed to get such a cool birthday for baby Sam too! Well done. Looking forward to Marchbunny filling us in on the details when she can.

MelissaM and Cyee, how exciting that we got the live birth thread going this morning! Hope that all is well with both of you and that your contractions are not too painful.

With all the excitment of pregnancy can someone tell me why I feel so bloody down in the dumps? Feel depressed and tearful and moody and very lonely (no reason for any of those feelings at all!) Everyone and everything is getting on my nerves and I cant seem to pull myself out of it!

Big hugs to all and hope you're all okay.

how fantastic are the live labour threads! can't believe we've got two of you at the same time. good luck to you both and hope all goes well.
so jealous tho, got two weeks to go till my cs and have definately had enough now. seems ages away still. re car seats, not too worried about getting it in the car ok, spied dp trying to strap a teddy into ours the other day and practically decapitated it... think he needs more practice before lo arrives!

tiggsy · 08/07/2007 12:46

oh, has anyone else got cats or dogs? bit random but finding all the female animals in my family are being really clingy (even my chinchillas!). has anyone else found this?

JennsterSlugSlayer · 08/07/2007 13:24

Dewmeadow, we have tomatoes chillies and aubergines in the greenhouse. Broadbeans are finished but dd LOVED eating them straight from the pod. [proud] Garlic suddenly looks like it's dying, one of my artichokes looks near death's door, climbing beans are tall but not particularly leafy yet, courgettes are not growing but not thriving or dying, sweetcorn doing ok, borlotti beans doing ok. The weather has just been terrible this year though. Everything should be blooming and thriving.

Myfairone here's a big hug to you. Have felt the same recently.

Groveregg · 08/07/2007 13:55

Mmm Jennster and dewmeadow I think I will have to come and visit your gardens, they sound wonderful! I tried for a couple of years and managed a total of two peapods and 5 borlotti beans. They went in a minestrone and I never even noticed them! Radishes and rocket were more successful but mostly it was the slugs that got fattest from it all.

Myfairone I sympathise, I have whole weeks where I feel like that and want nothing more than to hibernate. Someone at a toddler group this week asked me how I was and I think I scared her a bit when I started talking half-jokingly about making sure I kept away from sharp knives in case I went on a rampage round the village with one! Poor dh is counting down the days more than I am as he's really suffered in both my pg's.

Cyee and Melissa hope things get going for you, I remember only too well how demoralising it can be when things don't speed up...

bubble78 · 08/07/2007 14:39

well i will give a full account of what happenesd now.....

4.20 am i woke up with a real back ache but just thought oh here we go again more niggles so i went down to get a hot water bottle went back up to bed led there till 5.30 and thought this back ache is getting worse i will have a bath..

it seemed to ease it but then about 6.00 contractions started and where instantly VERY painfull and 9 mins apart by 6.30 they where 5/6 mins apart so dp called hospital who said to come in...

arrived at hosptal at 7.20 and contractions where 3 mins apart got the gas and air straight away and baby was born at 9.03..

i have to say it ws not easy but it was a nicer experience this time than with ds as with him i was induced and had a epidural..

we had to stay as lydia was having trouble holding her own temp up so she had to go on a hot cot.
sorry for the long post
