Dewmeadow - You know I haven't seen a thrush in YEARS. That's dreadful isn't it? Have a very cute baby blackbird resident, but it's just not enough!

Our only boy's name was stolen by sil 6 years ago because 'we were never going to get round to having children' and so George became Joseph after 3 days. They would have different surnames and live 160 miles apart and 6 years......Mil not happy, but tough titties? It REALLY is the only name we have agreed on and like.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 03/07/2007 20:57

And sparrows....I hardly ever see them! Not in my garden anyway. I have a regular wren though..... [wanders off wondering about garden birds]

And as for the weather! At least it isn't scorching and we are sweating cobs.

Bodkin · 03/07/2007 21:13

Jennster - we have seagulls in my garden, and they are so hard they scare all the good birds away.... grrrrr, shakes fist at pesky (and bloody noisy at the moment) gulls...

abgirl · 03/07/2007 22:06

Hello all, am still with bump but been keeping myself busy away from mumsnet to keep my mind off the wait!

V excitingly started having contractions at 3 this pm and have been in for monitoring this evening (as have had previous section) but been sent home to see if they get stronger and more regular overnight. If yes, will be back up to the delivery suite to try a VBAC, if no am due into the maternity ward at 7.30 tomorrow morning for my elective c-section. Am very excited (and slightly ) to know that this time tomorrow I should be cuddling my new baby!

Will let you all know what happens asap but if no weekly stats appear on Friday should be a pretty safe bet that I've had a c-section!

Please send me lots of happy labour and recovery vibes!!!

Chooster · 03/07/2007 22:33

Oh wow abgirl - its all happening eh! Whatever the outome of VBAC or c-section, I'm sending you good vibes that it is all exactly as you would want it. GOOD LUCK!!!!

I haven't been on here for ages. Stopped work about a week and a half ago but just been busy getting stuff organised. Will do some catching up tomorrow...

As for me, all is well - Loads of BH, Baby still not engaged at all and feeling massive - but then whats new

Princesspowersparkle · 03/07/2007 23:18

Good Luck Abgirl!! Hope all goes well. You'll have your baby tomorrow- I'm so jealous!
X

agnesnitt · 04/07/2007 00:21

Good luck Abgirl!

Dewmeadow, I can empathise with a daughter with a will of her own where names are concerned. Although she knows that if a boy arrives he will be called 'A', and a girl will be called 'P' she is also insistent that it is a boy and a girl baby (yeah, I'm having the only hermaphrodite in the July thread it would seem ) and will be called Chewie. I swear we have not watched Star Wars in an age and a half.

dewmeadow · 04/07/2007 08:45

lol Agnes!!

LOts of vibes to you Abgirl!!

Caroline1852 · 04/07/2007 09:09

Sending good luck to Abgirl for her delivery today.

MelissaM · 04/07/2007 09:30

Good luck Abgirl. Hope everything goes as you want it to and that you are holding your lo very soon. Sending lots of good vibes your way!

Dewmeadow, I bought an exercise ball from Argos too (£9 - £20 less than a birthing ball which is essentially the same thing). If you are under 5'9" they recommend a 65cm ball and if you are 5'10 or over a 75 cm one. I think you can also get a smaller one (53cm?) if you are petite. Happy shopping

Cyee, I'm glad you made it clear to your mw that you don't want an induction. Hopefully you won't need to argue with anyone and your lo will arrive soon anyway.

Miaou · 04/07/2007 09:35

Good luck abgirl - hope things are going well for you today

I had a "discussion" with my consultant yesterday, who very politely told me off for not taking iron tablets. I caved in and got a prescription, but am now wondering about taking the other option and going down to the main hospital in Inverness for an iron infusion (I was offered this at the time but declined because of the distance/time/impact on the rest of the family). Dh told me afterwards I should have said yes and we will work out the logistics later! I am seeing my midwife later this afternoon so I will ask if I can change my mind ... . Iron is down to 98.7 and I feel fine, but he is concerned that if I have post partum bleeding then I could run into trouble (and apparently that's more likely because I have already had three children therefore my uterus may not contract as efficiently). Grrr.

justbeme · 04/07/2007 09:55

OOhh Good Luck Abgirl!! Look forward to hearing some news !!
Am still waiting here......

marchbunny · 04/07/2007 10:13

Good Luck Abgirl, hope everything goes smoothly.

Look forward to hearing your happy news.

Cyee · 04/07/2007 10:19

Good luck Abgirl!

Thanks MelissaM

Miaou, I got a ball in tesco for about £5. Sorry to hear about the iron levels - hope you get sorted.

Is anyone else gagging for the baby to get here, but then thinking SH*T!!! everytime they feel a twinge (mainly wind!)? ... Or is that just me?!!!

Jennster - I'm feeling your slug pain, I am like a vigilante in my garden and the only birds we have seem to be too puny to eat my elephant-like slugs. Yuck.

Right, off to make myself respectable (my dressing gown can no longer really contain me) before visiting next nursery.

Have a good day everyone!

Groveregg · 04/07/2007 10:32

Good luck abgirl, hope all is going well! Can't wait to hear!

weepiglet2 · 04/07/2007 10:47

Goodluck abgirl! hope everything goes well

We also bought the £5 exercise ball from tescos - its a small one but does me fine because im a short arse.

antenatal appt yesterday - baby growing exponentially (so much for her being small) Midwife says is 4/5 engaged!

feeling restless and a bit agitated now - very uncomfy when sitting standing or lying and have another three weeks to a month to go - at least work took my mind off it!

MelissaM · 04/07/2007 10:47

Justbeme, it will be your turn soon.

Miaou good luck with mw app. Hope you manage to get the iron infusion.

Cyee I too am getting really impatient, then anxious when I think things might actually be happening.

Re the garden, its the birds I am having problems with - they keep eating my veggies! It's the first time we have tried growing anything and they have eaten all my cabbages, radish and broccoli! Oh and the squirrels keep eating my strawberries. this is all with netting/wire mesh over them! Pesky doves!

Bodkin · 04/07/2007 11:02

Melissa - quick bird scaring tip - I bought some of those metallic kids windmills from the pound shop and taped them to bamboo canes around my precious raspberries.... seem to have done the trick.

ABgirl - hope all goes well for you

MelissaM · 04/07/2007 11:04

Thanks for the tip Bodkin - I'll give that a try.

twoplusone · 04/07/2007 11:41
