Congratulations Abgirl on the birth of Owen Anthony!

Not long now for the rest of us - am hoping that thunderstorms this afternoon will trigger something off for me - or is this another load of rubbish I have been led to believe !!!

emmyb · 04/07/2007 15:10

tiggsy · 04/07/2007 16:26

hi, bit of a late starter here. due on 30/07 but found out this morning have to have c section on 24/07 cos bumps extended breach (feet either side of head). just wondering if anyone else has or is having similar experience. this is my first

Myfairone · 04/07/2007 17:02

Hi Tiggsy, never too late to join us chatty lot! Welcome and feel free to join in. Good luck with the C-Section. If you read back a little way you will see you are not alone with the planned C-Section and a lot of the July babies are well under way!

Abgirl - Congratulations girl!!!!! Welcome little Owen..great weight too! You must be so happy!

So how is everyone doing? I had a day out to the hairdressers yesterday and man did it take it out of me! My back was aching and the train journey nearly killed me...so glad I left work when I did.

I decided to bite the bullet and wash all of LO's baby clothes today and of course it rained! I managed to put it out twice and bring it in before I finally gave up! It was becoming a full time job and I was so jittery when it was out because I thought it would blow away!

I am feeling very positive today and happy! My DH ordered me a camcorder as a surprise and I'm loving him for being so thoughtful and sweet

I hope you all feel fine and are not too down about the fact that its hard to move around/hard to sleep/hard to eat/hard to climb stairs etc etc etc....it will all be worth it in the end!

twoplusone · 04/07/2007 17:06

Hi Tiggsy, and welcome..

No experience of extended breech, my first was a footling breech and c-section.. ( other stuff factors aswell.)

Abgirl- Anthony is going to be Lees middle name too, as it is my DH name.

DH has ggone bowling tonight with work. He is there duty driver for the night. He has also been dicked to do the driving for some of the officers tonight, (as a bribe to have the minibus) but he is gettting paid for it so bonus.. But he wont be home till about 3am!! he has the mobile on him and has been told under no circumstances to put it on to silent....

We were laughing though as seem as we have plans watch lo decide to make an appearance.. oh i thnk that is just wishful thinking on our behalf..lol

Kyte - What a brilliant day and so good to hear that you had a positive breastfeeding class! Great idea to bring in a new Mum.
If my friend is anything to go by (LO was born 6 weeks ago) her experience has been very positive. Of course it took her a few weeks to get into a routine but the baby is now happily sleeping through the night and all is well!

Twoplusone - Lets hope that the LO doesn't show tonight or it could leave a lot of unhappy bowlers with no way of getting home!

Oh and on the subject of gym/birthing balls, if anyone has a TK Maxx near them I managed to pick mine up for £5 in there.

My DH is going to a concert on Sunday and has taken to begging me not to have it before! Whats the chances of it arriving on Sunday? I can only imagine how difficult it would be to try and to get an announcement made over the Wembley tannoy system!!!

Groveregg · 04/07/2007 17:51

Hi all, just been off to the midwife for 37 week check up, and all fine here too but she thought the bump looked a bit small (34cm) so is sending me for a growth scan. She's not in the least worried though as my bump is apparently round rather than oval... on the quiet I'm actually rather pleased as it's a little extra glimpse of LO in advance!

Tiggsy a friend of mine who's due on 8th July was extended breech too but 2 weeks ago her LO did a dramatic turn around (she thought waters had broken but it was using her bladder as a climbing frame big style!). I think there are positions you can get yourself into several times a day to encourage it to move if you are concerned - don't know what they are though...

tiggsy · 04/07/2007 18:21

groveregg- been on all fours with bum in the air for past few weeks... dp thinks it's hilarious and my cats climb on me but has done nothing to encourage bump to move.

thankyou everyone for being so welcoming.

got to repack my hospital bag with other essentials now, thought i'd done really well having it all ready!!
and have to make sure dp's got enough foos for a week or i'll come home and find pizza hut on our bt friends and family!

bilblio · 04/07/2007 19:07

Congratulations Abgirl! and welcome to Owen Anthony. I've known lots of Owens and they've all been lovely lads.

Welcome to the thread Tiggsy, I'm another first timer, but I can't help on the breach baby.

I had another bad night with constant period like pains, back ache and achey hips. I'm not getting any sharper pains though, so guessing no contractions yet. LO is definitely shuffling a lot and getting into position again.
Today I've been busy making lots of lasagnes to put in the freezer and trying to ignore the pains... and ignore DP who kept telling me to go and sit down.

I'm under orders not to give birth until at least Monday afternoon though because tomorrow I have to fix a computer, Friday, Saturday and Sunday we have people visiting (different people each day) and Monday morning my parents will be looking after my niece.
But then I'm free to give birth any time until the 12th when my parents will be babysitting again. I've told them I'll try my best

Congrats Abgirl and welcome Owen ANthony!!

I also cant wait for the baby to get out, but then nearly (quite literally!!) wet my pants at the thought of the pain.

Bought an exercise ball in Argos today for 4.99. DD and DS (and DH!!) have had great crack with it, and I bounced on it for a wee while. Is that all you do - bounce up and down and encourage downward movement?

My friend recommended clarysage essential oil for speeding up things.

I feel like shite today - wrecked, sore head, nauseous, sore pelvic area, emotionally vulnerable - anyone else?

Bodkin · 04/07/2007 20:58

Congrats ABgirl - lovely name and a good size too! Wishing you a speedy recovery xx

Hi Tiggsy - no experience of breach myself, but a friend of mine had her baby last month, and it finally turned about 4 days before she was due to have a her C-section, so there's still time for you! (mind you, then she went 2 weeks overdue, but it finally arrived just before they were planning to induce her!)

Gosh, you all seem very busy with lots of visitors and friends and social events to organise. I just feel like being a complete hermit!

Myfairone · 04/07/2007 21:17

What is it with our DH's putting in their requests for perfect delivery dates?!

Mine has his precious concert on Sunday but is happy for me to give birth next week as work is looking like it might be busy for him! My parents on the other hand would like me to wait until 15th July as that is the date that my mother (apparently on the day I announced my pregnancy) predicted I would have my LO!

Truth is these bub's will arrive as and when they are good and ready....makes it all the more exciting doesn't it?!

Have been reading the 'what to expect when your breastfeeding and what to do it you cant' book tonight and have to say I am very impressed with the content. I have confused myself a little though because I'm still unsure what I should be doing when!
I am sure I will muddle through and work it out!

Nite all.

Congratulations abgirl! Am impressed you are back on the computer so quick . Glad all went well for you!

My m/w is now pushing for me to get an iron infusion down at Inverness - what a trek, but it will be worth it if I avoid the problems of taking tablets. She is a fab m/w, so efficient and organised, so nice to have someone I trust totally.

Kyte, the b/fing class sounds excellent . My antenatal classes are doing b/fing next week; I'm not sure if I'm going to go yet (having b/f the previous three I don't think I've got a lot to learn , but hey, you never know!)

Getting lots of bh contractions now. Generally speaking the baby is just making big gentle movements (not enough room to stretch and kick!) - it feels lovely and I will really miss it when the baby is born!

bubble78 · 04/07/2007 23:03

hi dewmeadow
my sister in law started sniffing the clarysage the day before my niece was due and low and behold she was born in the early hours of the next day on her due date so i will definatley be trying it.

i also would like you does bouncing up and down on the exercise ball encourage things to get started or are they just to use during contractions ???

hope everyone is feeling ok ive been getting lots of low back ache today and the odd pain i hope this is a sign things are getting moving on friday last week the midwife said babys head was 3/5

bilblio · 05/07/2007 00:39

I'm currently bouncing up and down on my bouncy ball, the settee is too tempting most of the time so I've put the ball next to the computer.

I saw something on the baby channel about what to do with them, and yes bouncing up and down is good. Also rocking backwards and forwards or side to side also helps get the baby in the right position. I think part of it is that it's nigh on impossible to slouch when you're sat on it, and it helps open up your pelvis, so encourages LO to get its head engaged. That's why I've started using it again seeing as it was 2/5ths engaged but then decided to go wandering again

The programme also said that during labour you can still rock back & forth or side to side. You can also put the ball high up against a wall, lean against it and squat up and down to help the baby move down. You'd need someone to hold the ball on the wall for you first. The last thing they recommended was leaning over the ball and rocking back and forth, or side to side. Even better if someone massages your back too.

I'm glad it's not just my family putting in irrational demands about when I can and can't give birth. As well as the ones I mentioned, I've also got to try and avoid the birthdays of relatives we didn't like.

Firststar, thankfully no-one has been unreasonable enough to suggest I wait till better weather.
Spring seems to have the best weather of the year now doesn't it

Princesspowersparkle · 05/07/2007 07:37

Morning All

Congratulations Abgirl on the bith of Baby Owen! Glad all is OK!

Was it someone on this thread that was suffering from a rash across their bump? I had one come up yesterday and its really itchy. I think its cos the baby has moved and its stretched my skin, so anyone got any skin soothing solutions?

As for requests from family for birth dates- my mum is convinced its coming on Mon 9th and my dad thinks on the 25th (i'm actually due 20th). I hope my mum is right!!! Not really impatient for it to be here yet like I thought I would be. It seems like its come round too quickly to be fully baked yet!!

Hope everyone is OK and doing well and not suffering with late pregnancy too much.

X

Myfairone · 05/07/2007 07:57

Princess, it was me with the rash across the bump. It was due to the stretching of the skin and believe it or not I had put too much oil on and blocked the pores!

I did a gentle exfoliation in the shower and have been sparing with the oil since and all seems to have cleared up okay.

Does anyone else keep dreaming they are in labour? (not that I get much sleep you understand!) I keep waking up and clutching my tummy only to discover that I'm in no pain! Bizarre really!

I am sooo excited now but kind of scared too and Miaou I was wondering the other day if I would miss not having my little one inside of me. As strange as it was to get used to I really think I may miss it...

Well, I am attempting a shopping trip today. Wish me luck!

Have a great day all.
