Where are all the men like MrDerlor hiding? Amusing anecdotes and special gifts - I'm guessing he's not a chef?

Re baby movement, my MW also said (she was one of the nice ones) that if you haven't felt a movement for a while drink a really cold drink (like foxys icecream eating I suppose, apparently it shocks your bowel and this somehow stimulates LO) or lie down for a bit or have a cool bath.

I also will never be having sex again. DH won't have the snip (because after his 2nd child was born and his ex was very ill her best friend told him he had to have it) so I will have to arrange a nasty workplace accident in the trouser area. Soup anyone?

riabutterflew · 10/06/2007 19:07

Looks like I'm on bathtime duty, 5pm having been and gone. Good thing I'm not in labour sat here thinking "well he said he would be home at 5...".

I HATE SUNDAYS!

foxybrown · 10/06/2007 19:13

Oh Kittykit - your pictures of Sophia have just turned me into a wobbly wreck! She's just lovely! am so very !

But you do need to change your profile. It still reads "doesn't have children"!

Ria, that's crap. Am struggling to hold it together myself. Its worse when they say they're going to be home than when you just aren't expecting them isn't it? Its shite

foxybrown · 10/06/2007 19:59

Eurgh! Feeling rubbish, am off to bed. Nite all

hollyandalice · 10/06/2007 20:00

I just told my dp that Mr Derlor gave her a diamond necklace. He said "Good on him, I'll give you a pearl necklace"! He is a sicko! Honestly, does anyone to swap men?

Kittykit, how gorgeous is sophia? And how do you look so good after giving birth? I looked like a big fat hippo who had been dragged through a hedge! I am v !!

Poor ria! Put the kids to bed and have a glass of wine!

Night Foxy - hope you're feeling better!

LOL Holly - do prostaglandins soak through the skin?

hollyandalice · 10/06/2007 20:06

Night foxy, hope you have a good sleep!

If they did annobal I'd be rubbing it in like moisturiser! Or not!

Good evening......finally been able to grab five minutes to myself....LO has been a demon all day and is feeding constantly. She feeds for about 15 mins, sleeps for 15 mins, feeds for 15, sleeps for 15...you get the picture! This goes on for over an hour and I've been putting her back on the same boob until she's done. I'm not sure whether this is the right thing to do as her feeding pattern is so different from DS. Advice anyone?

Had all the in-laws around today for a couple of hours and I have never been so glad to see the back of them in my life. MIL was itching to take LO out in her pram, but DH wants to do the school run with her tomorrow. I'd kind of like it to be me as well, but I'm not fit to walk anywhere at the moment. My wound is really sore and stings like a burn at one end, but I'm assured it doesn't look infected. Can only stand for about 10 mins befroe I keel over and I have slightly less colour about my face than a lump of pastry! not an attractive look and I've spent the day wondering just why I thought an elective c-section was a good idea.

Sorry...feeling a bit glum ....Em is such a delight really, it could be much much worse.

Derlor...your DH sounds like a fab and wonderful husband. I hinted to mine seriously about a diamond ring for months until he told me emphatically that we can't afford it. I did get a bar of galaxy though, and a bag of Bassett's sweetshop favourites, so I feel really special .

Lilkel....all hail you queen of the bedroom....five days down and I can't imagine anything less appealing. hope you get some reassurance re ovulation, or get the MAP to be on the safe side, you definately don't want to be one of those women who is pg by their six week check.

C'mon babies.....get a move on, its very quiet on the postnatal thread!!

annobal · 10/06/2007 20:36

Poor you, Daisy . Have you tried keeping her awake while feeding (I very cruelly used to tickle DSs feet) to make her feed a bit longer. Think you are doing the right thing by putting her back on the same side as then she'll be getting hind milk as well and that should fill her up a bit more. It sounds as though ILs were with you a bit long and you need to rest more - tell DH it is too much for you and to kick out visitors if you are flagging. Let DH do the school run tomorrow and rest up. Hope the constant feeding today means she sleeps all night .

hollyandalice · 10/06/2007 20:40

Hey daisy! You poor thing, hope you feel better soon. Hope you are getting enough rest, remember you have just had major surgery, you need to recover! My dd was like that and I don't remember how long it lasted. She would feed for a while and fall asleep and I'd wake her and feed more. This would go on for an hour or so, then she'd be ok for a couple of hours and feed again for an hour! It was exhausting. I seemed to spend my life bfing! I did get better, but I think it took a while. Sorry I can't be more help. Maybe see a bfing counsellor, they might be able to advise you on what to do.

God, sorry that was a rubbish post! I meant to reassure you there, but didn't do a very good job! I am useless, ignore me !

daisyboo · 10/06/2007 20:48

Don't worry HandA, I'm just concerned that she's getting enough and that I'm doing the right thing. My boobs aren't getting all that engorged and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad sign...ie good that the supply and demand is getting established really quickly or bad because they're not filling up enough?

lilKelBel · 10/06/2007 21:03

Ok i've gone & taken the MAP. The look on the chemist's face when I asked for it (with baby S tucked up in the buggy clearly not close to 6 weeks old) --- priceless.

Daisy just happened to think - re the dizziness - maybe iron supps would help?

Kittykit - lovely little girl - and yes you are far too groomed and super looking in your photo - well done!

daisyboo · 10/06/2007 21:06

Cheers Lilkel....my notes say my post op Hb was 11.7, but I look like an extra in a vampire film and my gums are practically white. MW tomorrow so will ask her to take some bloods to check.

Off to get my foot and leg massage from DH....it may not be a diamond necklace, but I love him to bits for it!!

Gosh daisy, it does sound like you are a touch lacking in iron! I'm sure emily is getting enough milk, I'm sure she'd let you know if she wasn't. The mw will be able to reassure you. Take care and enjoy your foot rub! xxx

I wondered if pearl necklaces would come up!

DH home now. He let me have a long soak in the bath so I'll have to let him off. No wine in the house - bugger. Have to be COLA then (so long as its cold I'm not fussed.)

Am off tonight, hopefully early night, nice sleep, finish some little jobs in the morning (NOT NESTING THOUGH) and then a nice easy labour after lunch... dream on. Then DH can go kick ass at school by himself cos I'll be too busy!

Night all.
