I hope that's true Sputnik, as I have to have a meeting next Wednesday morning and can't have the baby before then...hopefully it can wait till next Friday

annobal · 06/06/2007 09:45

Ooh - I remember being examined when having contractions and nearly breaking the MW's fingers (serves her right ).

Good luck at your AN appt Ria and TA - hope it kicks things off for you.

Will check back in later as we're out most of the day and going out for dinner with friends (yes, RL friends ) tonight!!

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 09:56

Its all coming back now, isn't it?

westcoaster · 06/06/2007 10:01

Daisy - very belated congratulations on Emily Isabelle's safe arrival.

Redfraggle/Kittykit/Derlor - hope it's all going well for you guys & that your bumps are now babes.

Sputnik - v impressed at how calm & organised you are! Can you have a word with my bump & tell her to get a move on?!

DKMA/TA - please don't start me on horses - we moved from Scotland to Somerset a year ago and part of the 'deal' was that I got a horse again. Things didn't quite go to plan & now I'll probably be so ancient before I've got the time/money that my hips won't be up to it anymore.....

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 10:01

Thanks guys

I read on another thread that taking paracetamol takes the edge off a sweep so I have done so... if nothing else it might make me a little less anxious which can only be a good thing!

I love how everyone is on edge now, who is next, looking for signs etc!

I think I shall have my sweep, even tho I hate my MW with a passion, then I'll come home, walk the dog, hoover and clean the bathroom. If that doesn't kick start it all nothing will!

sputnik · 06/06/2007 10:07

just caught up with everything. Really hope Kittykit is ok, does she have a text buddy?

Baby does actually feel like he's digging his way out and I feel distinctly uncomfortable in that region, though no contraction type pains as such.

Annobal, good news with your scan, it's funny how they can get you from worrying about being small for dates to worrying about having a 10lb-er overnight!

TA, it really sounds to me like you are on the verge now, keep us posted

sputnik · 06/06/2007 10:16

Talking about the psychological aspect...
A friend of mine on her second (tho first was a cesarean) was in labour for 2 days without dilating at all. It was a homebirth and eventually her midwife told everyone else to go away (including her DP) so her "support" was removed. Friend duly cursed her with every bad name possible but was dilating an hour later and then had the baby quite quickly.

Anyway, better go and finish that work now

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/06/2007 10:40

Good Morning Ladies!!

Wow - Delor might have her baby now?! Or be having it?!! >

TA / Westcoaster - I am obsessed with my horse and will bore people endlessly about him . I have a manicure at 12.00, then my AN class at 1.30 - 3.30, and then I am going to give him a bath! He's minging and is looking all neglected!

I use baby shampoo on him so it doesn't sting his eyes, and I am going to sort out his mane, tail, fethers, bridle path etc etc. - Hoping the exercise for me might bring labour on? He's going to get a right fussing over - I've been too knackered after work to do it - but now on mat leave with no baby yet - he has ALL my attention!

I normaly do Eventing with him (the one day stuff) and all my mates are off competing all weekends and I'm gutted I cant play! I can't even walk the XC courses with them cos I'm too slow and puffy!!!! If we both can get fit enough - I might get some comps done before the end of the season (Sept / Oct).

I told you I could bore people about it!

Westcoaster - If DH promised that getting a horse was part of the move - I'd say go get one girl!!!!

hollyandalice · 06/06/2007 10:40

Morning everyone!!

How exciting for derlor, hope she has a yummy small person already!

I think kittykit's text buddy is tallulah, so hopefully everything is ok and we'll hear from her soon.

Had a very productive evening yesterday! I ordered loads of toyboxes from vertbaudet in the sale and they all arrived yesterday. I spent ages putting them all together and now I have a blister! We went to B&Q as well and bought some wallpaper ! We were going to get some laura ashley stuff, but this was reduced from £20 to £5 a roll, so we couldn't say no! It's not as nice, but it'll do! Should be finished by the weekend, I'm sooo excited!

Hope everyone is having a good morning! TA hope your sweep goes well, it is uncomfortable, but if it works it'll be worth it!

westcoaster · 06/06/2007 10:50

DKMA - don't start me - I'll be off into equineworld big style. We're about to start renovating a Victorian school house in the next month or two so think I might have my hands full for the next year or so! Mind you, in an ideal world, I'll also be having my boobs reduced & lifted so think I might have to do a bit of prioritising.....!!

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/06/2007 10:53

PMSL Westcoaster at boob reduction!
I think I'll be needing some of that too! Big boobs are not a good look when trying to ride a horse! I have industrial like sports bras to keep my puppies under control!!! God knows how they'll end up after pg and bf?!?!

Wow, brilliant!! Things are really starting now!
Congrats to you kittykit, what a lovely name! Hope you and your lovely new bundle are doing well! xx

westcoaster · 06/06/2007 11:04

I know - mine were a bit dodgy before (after DD1) but the only thing keeping them up now is my bump!! God knows where they'll be once that's gone. My last sports bra was an Enell which was fantastic - kept them under control even running...

Damn - xpost! Kittykat - that is great news. Sophia is a beautiful name & 5lb 9oz sounds comfy! Congratulations & love to you & your family.

hollyandalice · 06/06/2007 11:12

I know DG!! I'm having a boy and only have one boys name. My list of girls' names extends to about 3 sides of A4! Do you think my new son would mind being called Bella and be dressed in pink?

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 06/06/2007 11:14

Oh Kittykitt

Well done!

Congratulations kittykitt and welcome Sophia.

Boys can have lovely names too - mine do! (just unfortunately they aren't particularly lovely boys any more.)

How many more babies today then? Not me please (til after 7pm when my parents get back...)

trace2 · 06/06/2007 11:39

congrats kittykitt, glad its over for you now

ta hope you get your sweep

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 11:42

Am I right in thinking we only have one boy on the June Stats?

Maybe we shouldn't use the phrase "pretty boy"? bound to offend someone!

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 12:24

Wow yes where are all the boys??

Congrats Kitty!!

The sweep didn't happen after all that, she didn't even see if I was dilated or anything, she said that as I am 'only' 40 weeks and she is overbooked (my appt was an hour late!) so she has booked me in for next week instead. She is overbooked for next week too, she cancelled some other lady without telling her to fit me in...oh dear.

Can I please have some labour vibes?

Oh DKMA/Westcoaster I would tell you about my old horse and how I still keep his rugs etc in the loft but onlookers might tell us to bugger off to the Pets threads
