Good luck derlor and sputnik.

Welcome familygirl. Where are you based? Don't know about your question, evey time I thin it would be a good idea to get on with this I think of something else I would rather get done first. (Tomorrow having car serviced so would have to use parents car to go to hospital. Thurs, parents car at garage so not convenient for babysitting. Tonight, fancy glass of wine with DH so he wouldn't be fit to drive. Do you see a pattern forming?!) The only thing I am fairly sure on is I don't fancy the idea of having to have a sweep.

Your due date is my WA so DH wants me to go over by 3 days so our LO is born then.

Juicylucytoo · 05/06/2007 21:39

When my MW checked my cervix yesterday she said it was thinning, but not open enough to make it worth doing a sweep. I think you have to be about ready to start labour to make a sweep effective?? She had a poke about (sorry if TMI), but no sweep.

Dontknowmyarsefrommyelbow · 05/06/2007 21:44

Oh Brill

Daisy has her LO
Delor, TA and Sputnik sound like theirs are on the way!

And I wonder how Kittykitt is doing? It doesn't look like she's been on since leaving for the hospital this morning! Hope she's okay

AIBU to be a little ? I just want mine now!?

trendaverter · 05/06/2007 22:01

No need to be jealous of me, I think I was in the throes of some very convincing BH.

False alarm, LO is settled in for the long haul, I must be very comfy

Sounds like the others are in the grips of labour though! but I hope they are all ok.

trendaverter · 05/06/2007 22:05

Oh btw DKMA, I used to have horses, I showjumped. I sold mine years ago, I miss it terribly, must be hard for you to let someone else look after your equine baby!

I still go to Hickstead every year to watch, catch up with old friends and remind myself of the good old days of stable bandages, saddle soap and pot noodle lunches in freezing winter weather

annobal · 05/06/2007 22:12

Wow - never rains but pours - sounds like things are happening pretty quickly! Good luck Derlor, TA and Sputnik - very exciting. TA sounds as though things are starting to move...

Had my scan today as measuring small for dates and baby is fine - in fact is quite large at ALREADY 7lb 13oz. But as MW pointed out there is 25% +/- there as scans are not that accurate (OMG 7lb/13oz +25% makes the baby almost 10lb SHIT .

Sleep well everyone...

trendaverter · 05/06/2007 22:12

DH has ordered me off to bed. Night all! x

I'm off to bed too. DH not home despite a text over an hour ago to say he would be 20 minutes. I'm bored of that.

My bump really does feel like it will explode it is so tight and my hips, while not exactly painful, feel like they've rotated and I am walking like a penguin. The pressure at the base of my bump is massive too. Moan moan moan...

Night all. Hoping for good things over night (but not for me, I just want sleep then it can kick off in the morning if it really must!)

hollyandalice · 05/06/2007 23:07

Oh bloody hell, I've missed some excitement! Hope things are actually happening derlor, am vvvv excited for you!! Hope it goes well and lo comes out quickly! xxx

Wow sputnik, that's really crazy that the dr actually felt the baby! She must have been having a proper root around !! Sounds like you are well on your way though, fingers crossed!

Am actually ready to have a baby! Have bought hosepipe and plastic sheet and bucket for the pool, so baby is allowed to come now! NOW BABY!!

Hope everyone has had a good day x

*MESSAGE FROM DERLOR AT 21.58**

CONTRACTIONS EVERY 7 MINUTES, ON HER WAY IN TO HOSPITAL

No update as yet, will let you know as soon as I hear anything

C'Mon Derlor!!!!

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 07:09

Yay Derlor! Hope it all goes well

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 07:46

Is anyone there? Does a sweep hurt?

trendaverter · 06/06/2007 08:13

Is everyone giving birth?!

annobal · 06/06/2007 08:39

YAY Derlor! Sending you lots of good (and pain-free) labour vibes.

TA - don't know if it hurts as I've never had one - I can imagine it would be a bit uncomfortable. GOOD LUCK!

trace2 · 06/06/2007 08:42

wow hope delor had her baby by now

i found the last sweep i had did hurt, but if you have to have one its over very quickley

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 09:11

At the very least it'll be uncomfortable and you might get some crampy pains afterwards. Not nice, but you get used to it as they'll be checking you in labour anyway. I don't know why but it never occurred to me the first time round that that is how they check your dialation! I remember being really shocked when inbetween contractions the MW had her hand that far up!

I have no idea how I thought they would check. Telescope?

bumperlicious · 06/06/2007 09:13

Morning all, so long with nothing, now these babies are all eager to come! Hope derlor is ok!

Annobal, what a relief for you about your baby. How bizarre that you were measuring small but in actual fact your LO is pretty big! It must have some kind of hidey hole!

Family girl, glad you popped over, it's very chatty over here, usually less manically so but everyone is getting impatient now. We have had plenty of June antenatal thread if you want to have a look at past ones. You'll see if you have a look that you aren't the only one who has had a bit of a crap time. Still we are all nearly there now!

I'm trying to be be more relaxed and remember that I'm not actually due yet! And trying to appreciate my time off. So organising lots of lovely things to distract me. Got a pedicure today! Am going to book a reflexology session for around my due date, going out for a couple of meals while we still can.

Ria, when is your WA? Ours is next sunday (it's our 1st) so on Saturday we are going to a Thai restaurant and I'm hoping some spicy food might kick things off!

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 09:18

Thanks for that info foxy - it had never occured to me either until I read your post. I just thought they could tell by peering up...

Am feeling it will be a crap day. Already have heartburn and feel sick and niggly pains in bump, but NOT CONVENIENT until tonight now. DH having to work his day off again (FFS). Might go back to bed. And cry.

A/N appt later. Hope it's a good one ("ooh, you've been in labour for a while now, hadn't you realised? Looks like you'll have your baby soon". It's always sunny in cloud cuckoo land!)

Have a good day.

sputnik · 06/06/2007 09:21

Go Derlor, hopefully she'll have had the baby by now and will be back posting soon. Didn't she say she planned to be in hospital for the minimum stay?

I'm still here
The doc said there can be a psychological factor stopping you going into labour when your body is ready, to do with leaving the first child etc. Well I have some work to finish, should manage today, then I'll be ready

riabutterflew · 06/06/2007 09:22

bumper, our WA is 21st June (oh the pagan in me...). It will be our 11th (not bad to say everyone said it wouldn't last a year). DH had to work it last year so he is hoping to be on PL (unless I'm actually in labour which would also make him happy.) If LO is here we will be celebrating with a trip to Knaresborough which is where we spent our wedding night. Picnic of course. After 11 years and 2 kids romantic restaurant visits have fallen by the wayside. Maybe a bag of chips! (bless him!)

Enjoy your pamper time bumper and don't let yourself get bored because I bloody am and it's annoying! (I am SO bad tempered too, but that goes without saying.)

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 09:26

LOL Ria, am glad its sunny where you are!

I think that Dr is right! Definately something in mind over matter - but then you can only postpone for so long . I'll be postponing indefinately right now as I'm having a little panic...

Sounds like a good plan Bumper! Make the most of the days of it being just the two of you, how lovely! Enjoy your pedicure today, you'll be seeing a lot more of your toes soon hopefully

I texted Derlor back to wish her well, haven't heard but as soon as I do I'll let you all know - if she doesn't beat me to it.

pinguthepenguin · 06/06/2007 09:26

Hi Ladies

I've not posted much as I only finished work last weeks, plus I get pins and needles from sitting down too much (think baby is sitting on a nerve, grrr!). I've been checking in reguarly though and hope you're all well. Congrats to those of us who've met their little bundles already!
I'm due (my first) on saturday and apart from the odd mild period-type pain last week, I've had absolutely nothing, nada, zilch, in the way of 'signs'.
Does this mean that I'm likely to go overdue? Sorry, I realise you can't see into the future , but juat wondered about the likelihood.
Also- and this may be completely in my imagination- my bump seems smaller somehow, is that normal? Babys' been fully engaged for about a week or so according to the MW, so maybe its just that?

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 09:32

Morning Pingu! Glad you are back - hope you get some time to rest before your lo comes.

Your bump probably seems smaller because baby is tucked down into your pelvis. As to when s/he is going to come, who knows?! But get some rest and pampering in and make the most of it! Now is the time for treats!

Glad you are well anyway.

Right, I really must get on with the filing!

foxybrown · 06/06/2007 09:33

Forgot to say, Ria and Trendaverter - good luck with your AN appts today! Hope you get some good news
