Feb 2019 Thread 5: 12 week scans and the start of the second trimester.

New thread ladies: number 5 already!!

Wow ladies! Been off for a few days and so much to catch up on. Had harmony /NIPT on Saturday, no result yet, really hoping we get it this week as we are off to the Edinburgh fringe Festival next week.
I'm now 14+1 and over the last couple of days vomited more and felt worse than ever. Not sure if this is stress /upset as one of our cats was hit by a car and killed 2 days ago. Lots of headaches since then and exhausted.
Hope everyone is doing ok, I'm going to have another go at actually catching up.

We've told parents now as couldn't keep quiet seeing them so often

I'd love a Doppler but I know I'd get obsessed with it, no self control.

Haha this is why I was very nervous about buying one I don't want to become too attached but saw one on amazon for a good price and thought I may prob get one later on anyway so went ahead and got it lol

Postman has been and gone, and still no scan appointment :(
I did get a letter from the maternity team though, just a list of things I can't eat - which I already got given at my booking appt last week :/

Seriously considering booking a private scan - I just want to tell people, especially my kids!

Had my 12w scan this morning, all good, two wriggly babies with thin NT measurements so hopefully trisomy risks will be low too 🤞 twin 2 on the top, twin 1 on the bottom...it's just like they are in bunk beds! Still can't believe that we are having twins! Ahhh!

@Since2016 Think we're due date buddies! My date was moved to 15 Feb today but I'm fully expecting them to arrive sometimes in January!

Dug my mat clothes out today...need to sort through them and wash them but I'm definitely going to need them soon! Annoying I was heavily pregnant in the summer both times before so it was all dresses etc so think I'm going to have to buy a few new bits!

I am having an ELCS so will actually be the week before my due date - so first week in February. Will agree the date in December. I agree I bet you’ll go early! Are you having a CS?

I’m the same @MrsY87 my ds was an August baby so I lived in maxi dresses. Going to be strange being heavily pregnant in winter. Another Christmas without alcohol!

Congrats @MrsY87 I think twins are such a blessing. Well any baby is but twins are double!

Sorry to hear that @DragonFlew. I was in your position so I do understand. It will come just keep chasing.

My scan is tomorrow so pleased I don’t have too long to wait but anxious about it or course.

Thanks! It's starting to feel very real now although I'm not sure it will totally sink in til they are both here!

I had a CS with my 1st and a VBAC with my 2nd. My CS recovery was actually better than my vaginal birth but that was because my episiotomy stitches split open on day 3 😱 so I had an open wound which took about 8w to heal. Not an experience I want to repeat! But then a CS with a 17m old isn't going to be ideal so am going to see what the consultant suggests, will also depend on what position they are in closer to the birth.

I'm just getting so jealous seeing everyone's gorgeous scan pictures, it's such a magical moment seeing them for the first time and watching the time heartbeat flickering.

I want to pay for a private one next week when I'm 12w but I want a gender one at 16w so might just wait!

Scan went well this morning, due date now 15th Feb and had a very wriggly baby 😊

@dragonflew have you phoned the hospital? If it’s a community midwife referral then they should have you on the system. If not, then as nicely as possible threaten to complain but explain you’re v anxious, have been told to wait for a letter but need to know when to expect it.

Ahh lovely @hayely013 ! You’re due the same date as @Mrsy87 and I. Although we will be earlier probably!

@DragonFlew thank you! It is exciting but I am SO nervous. Probably normal...

I was just like you. I considered an early scan earlier on but DH thought no need as is the opposite of me in that I’m super worried and cautious and he just thinks everything will be fine! Once we got to 12w and I didn’t have my scan I wished I’d had a private one but it seemed a bit late when I knew I would have my nhs scan within a couple of weeks so I just waited but I felt like everyone had has their scans but me!!

@emalady. You may get the results tomorrow with any luck. I had my harmony test on a Saturday and was called the following Friday with the results. I’m so sorry about your cat. I have two and would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to them. Thinking of you xx
