Juliwewoolie - many thanks for the lillipadz advice. Just ordered some from ebay - look like exactly what I am looking for

I don't feel like anything is going to happen for me today . I am keeping everything crossed for everyone else, though x

Mrsjaffabiffa · 31/05/2007 12:02

yey for tyg and Jonah, well done my lovelies. Huge congratulations to you both. xxx

madeindevon2 · 31/05/2007 13:21

where is scootermum?
im going out shortly myself. but doesnt she normally pop head in in the morning??

juliewoolie · 31/05/2007 13:56

Ok am on for a massive rant and a cry!

Have just spent the last 3 hours at the hospital being shunted from pillar to post and being given differing info from everyone I spoke to.

Had a 9am app so that I knew they wouldnt be running late only for some numpty to put my red book in the wrong pile and to be sat until 10 waiting to be seen, then saw a doctor who did a sweep and surprise surprise my cervix is still posterior. Also that she was a little worried as my bump seemed smaller so then had to go for a scan another 45 min wait after scan told everything ok and baby fine panic over, make an app for a weeks time. Ok so then get the talk about inducement even though I have explained that I really dont want to be induced especially after the last time I was stuck on the antenatal ward. So was persuaded to be booked in for June 9th only to be told I have to wait AGAIN to speak to a midwife who will talk me through the inducement procedure, waited again for ages only for the midwife to chat to us in a corridor and say we have to be in on the 8th in the eve for monitoring and then they would induce me on th 9th in the eve, and because of the stupid hospital rules my DP is only allowed to be there from 10 am until 8pm so cant even have him with me while they are inducing me. Meanwhile I am a gibbering wreck at the prospect of being stuck in early labour on a horrible ward without my DP she then sent us packing. With no other info.

I am so cross I was persuaded by my Doctor and communtiy Midwife that this was a good hospital but they dont seem to know their arse from their elbow and cant even communicate between each other or offer any decent advice.

The whole experience of being pregnant and having my baby in this hospital has left me with complete lack of confiddence in giving birth and just feel confused and scared.

Sorry for the long post.

juliewoolie · 31/05/2007 13:58

sorry massive congratulations to TYG and Jonah, really pleased for you.

scootermum · 31/05/2007 14:46

Congratulations to my darling TYG!
And to the lovely Jonah!

Great, great news! And what a lovely short labour for TYG!

Well as you will gather..am still here..have been recovering from this mornings sweep which was bloody painful and still is..also it is likely, according to midwife, to have been fairly pointless..cervix is as posterior as can be and there are no signs at all of anything moving..induction booked for next Tuesay
My Mothers helpful comment?'what have you got in there? An elephant?I beg of you, my teeth are so gritted there will be none left pretty soon..

Oh Julie..you sound like you had the worst morning..big hugs to you.. at your hosp..dont they know they are dealing with a very pregnant woman?..jaysus...I know its hard to remain positive at this stage, but 11th June is a long way away..keeping everything crossed that things move on their own for you before then..
My hosp has the same rules about sending partners home after visiting and I am dreading being stuck on a labour ward on my own too..in fact am dreading the whole thing...

And so the wait continues..
Does anyone have any ideas on what to do on a soggy half term that takes little physical effort and will entertain a fed up 17 month old?DD is fed up, and so am I!

cameroonmama · 31/05/2007 15:26

TYG and MrTYG, thats fabulous news, well done! And to Jonah as well.

Sorry to hear you are both feeling blue Julie and Scoot, but fingers crossed things happen before you need to be induced.

juliewoolie · 31/05/2007 15:43

Thanks for the kind words feel a bit better now just fed up with it all.

Scoot you are in Hetfordshire - yes? If so there is a really good indoor playground in St Albans dont think that is to far from you, I have been there loads with kids I looked after and it is very secure kids get tagged locked gates etc, so you can let your LO run around and let off some steam while you sit and have a coffee. Cant remember the name but am sure if you google indoor playgrounds it will give you the address.

madeindevon2 · 31/05/2007 18:05

hi im back. julie and scoot. sry you are feeling like this. to be honest i am too. can your partner really not stay with you when you being induced? whats the point in having a birthing partner then if they cant be with you? do you just get left on your own? the whole things sounds terrible to me but i have to consider it may well be happening to me.
I have just had acupuncture to try speed things up....
also got my 2nd sweep tomorrow morning at 9.45
they will be wanting to book me in for induction on monday methinks (12 days over) but i might try delaying that to 14....
oh for goodness sake baby just COME OUT!

there is an indoor play area in st albans called dj jungle which my 20 month old nephew loves! is on sandridge road i think.
apparently a massive one in harpenden too. not sure of the name tho

i went to h and b to get some caulophyllum that TYG was talking about but they never heard of it.....can anyone shed any light? has it got any other names?
off to google it now...

juliewoolie · 31/05/2007 19:47

unfortunatly not, you get induced in the eve on the antenatal ward and then your partner has to leave by 8pm if it all kicks off in the night you have to wait until you are about to be moved to the labour ward before you are allowed to phone your DP. I know from other peoples experience that they dont move you to labour ward until pretty much ready to push.

Thats the exact playground I was thinking of where are you based MID I lived in Harpenden for 15 yrs, went to senior school there.

Lets hope none of us has to be induced am going to spend the next 3 days on my feet and running up and down stairs to try get things moving.

DaisysGotSausageFeet · 31/05/2007 20:02

MID2.....cualphyllium is also known as Blue Cohosh

Apparently evening primrose oil is good too, either taken orally or topically...as it works best of all if applied directly to the cervix (don't ask, we can't figure it our either!!)

If all else fails, you can join us June ladies tomorrow night in a naked dance around the garden howling at the full moon

Howling and nakedness optional

scootermum · 31/05/2007 21:13

Well Ill try anything..dancing, whatever...I went for a walk up the lane tonight, all of half a mile and was sooo tired, the weight of the bump was unbearable, and I felt like had been kicked in the crutch!
Back hurting now a bit..big deal..I know better that to think that might mean anything!
Have just eaten, like, my 10th very hot curry...fed up with the stuff now!

On the bright side however we have had an offer on our house tonight which I think we are going to accept in the morning! So touch wood it will all go well this time...

There is an indoor play thing here in Ware as well, but as its half term its packed with big kids going mental and they tend to push DD around a bit too much in their rush to get up the scramble nets etc..but might have a look at the big one in Harpenden, as the one here is quite small which might be part of the problem..too many kids in not a big space..thanks guys

Well big hugs to Intheseshoes...d or should I say, C, day tomorrow! Will be thinking of you, good luck hon!Just think this time tomorrow you will be holding your baby! Will Mr Intheseshoes come on and let us know?'Else we'll be worried all day...

Im off to watch ER..I watched 6 episodes on DVD whilst in early labour with DD-am hoping body will remember it and subliminally message my cervix to dilate...I know, im losing it!

night all, best wishes as ever for babies to come for all overnight..

jellybellybump · 31/05/2007 21:33

hello all,
have been offline for ages and am still waiting for this baby to shift downwards. Am now 40+4 but it feels 40+40!!!

Have been sitting on my birthing ball all night, hopefully with the desired effect.

I haven't had time to read the last couple of threads, but it sounds like there's not many May-07 left.

Congratulations to all the May-07 babies and mummies

aprilmeadow · 31/05/2007 21:52

Good luck for tomorrow Intheseshoes.

Good to hear from you Jelly, hope that your bubs doesnt keep you waiting too much longer.

Scoot - great news on the house offer - 'bout blinking time!

InTheseShoes · 31/05/2007 22:32

Hello all

Popping in to distract myself from going in tomorrow am. Thanks for all your good wishes - hopefully Mr InTheseShoes will be able to work out where to put the message - although we've jsut been looking at the Patientline website and it would appear that I may be able to post myself if he can't manage it.

I've made further enquiries about Jonah this evening and it would appear that all is well - hopefully she will be here herself to fill you in at some stage - Jonah, if you do get on here, congratulations love! Hopefully we will catch up soon, in the meantime, take care xx

See you all next week. Can't believe that I'll be holding my darling baby so soon.

scootermum · 01/06/2007 07:25

Morning all,

No baby in the night for me naturally!
Hey Jelly..think we are down to 7 now!The magnificent 7!

Wave to April..

Well yesterdays sweep can now safely be considered to have been a waste of time I think..nothing doing at all..

Good luck with your second one today MID..

We are going to look at some houses today I think and maybe to IKEA..and if that doesnt bring it on, nothing will..I will be pregnant forever!

Cant wait for news from Intheseshoes! How exciting!!

aprilmeadow · 01/06/2007 08:43

Morning Scoot - oooh Ikea that sounds fun! lol. I need to go there at some point to get a storage system for all of J's toys. I have seen one that i want i just need to get arse in gear and actually go there!

JonahB · 01/06/2007 09:58

Hi everyone ? me again!

Solomon Kurt was born on wed 30th at 11:45am, weighing a healthy 8lb 5oz. I?ll post my details on a birth announcements thread as I know everyone loves a few gory details . We?re all doing fine here. Sorry for not letting you know sooner ? I got back from hosp yesterday lunchtime and haven?t had the chance to come online before now.

Intheseshoes ? thanks for telling everyone for me!! I?m guessing I haven?t got on here in time to wish you all the best for today ? however, I?m sending you loads and loads of good luck vibes!!!!

Congratulations mr and mrs tyg!!! That is a healthy sized baby

Hope the rest of you are doing okay. Can?t be long now?.

MarsLady · 01/06/2007 10:00

Scoot.... walking only works when you are in labour, otherwise you just get tired! Look after yourself honey.

Juicylucytoo · 01/06/2007 12:38

Afternoon all.

Nothing doing here either. Am going for a walk today just to relieve the boredom.

Julie - sorry you're having a crap time with the hospital. Hopefully you'll go into natural labour before the end of next week, so will be able to delay going in until you're labour is well established. Everyone says the actual labour ward is much better than the pre and post wards. Fingers crossed that's what happens.

Hope there's more babies over the weekend (and that mine is one of them!)

BefnalBub · 01/06/2007 12:39

Hello all!

I had a lovely call from my GP who is retiring asking me to pop in and show her the baby! there are small pockets of health care professionals who do actually care...
