Oh gosh I have been in hiding due to feeling so awful, and then every time i check the thread there are so many posts I feel overwhelmed so don't add anything myself! However it is lovely to see everyone getting on so well and chatting away.

I have had to cancel my dental / hygienist appt for Monday as I feel sick enough when I clean my own teeth that I cannot face being prodded and flossed etc for half an hour, so I will now go back in August when hopefully feeling better.

Welcome to everyone new, and nice to see now that there are more people due on same day as me!!!

Ginger, good luck tonight! Hope you get to see a little heartbeat! I had an early scan at 6.5 weeks last time and saw a little pulsating blob.

I would like to add that I had a fab pregnancy and birth experience last time, so hope any first timers are not too nervous. It was a very quick labour and only really painful for about 45 mins. I am hoping for the same again [wishful emoticon]. I hope all of you who had not so good experiences before can get a really positive experience this time. Must say though, those first few months were HELL, but I did it all wrong. I know better this time !

Egg · 15/06/2007 16:22

Oh and decided to try a gingerbread man and realise they do help. So DS and I are eating a packet of six per day .

beansprout · 15/06/2007 17:04

Just for a change, I feel sick and tired today.
Am struggling a bit. Nothing is getting done and I have to just accept that is how it is going to be for a while and not give myself a hard time.

Spoke to my dad today and he said, "yes, well, your age will be working against you as well". Thanks Dad!!

Gingermumi - best wishes for your scan (ooh, our first scan, how exciting!!). How is your pox today?

mrsRabbit · 15/06/2007 17:38

Hi all, Not posted a thread for ages! had Doc appointment last Thursday and I am due on 2nd Feb. I am feeling so sick and am vomiting after everything I eat. A friend recommended an acupuncturist. I rang one before and its £45 an hour. Has anyone tried one or anything else thats worth a go?

Egg · 15/06/2007 17:44

Oooh MrsRabbit - you make me realise I don't feel all that bad after all. Poor you. Not tried acupuncture but if I was in your situation I would try anything that was safe!

Sorry Ginger, forgot about the pox, I was a bit worried as I was in contact with a couple of pox ridden young boys around the time I conceived and so got all panicky, you are very calm, although am sure all is fine. If your MW is not worried then it can't be too dangerous, fingers crossed.

beansprout · 15/06/2007 18:08

Sounds like it is worth a go. Would try to find someone who specifically understands pregnancy. That said, I haven't heard it suggested for m/s before so not sure how effective it is though.

Am gagging as I cook ds's tea. Lovely.

beansprout · 15/06/2007 18:09

Oh, and completely lost it when reading a book to ds this afternoon. The grandad in the book dies at the end (big shout to the author there) and I just started sobbing. Ds trying to console me, "don't cry mummy, don't cry".

rozzyraspberry · 15/06/2007 18:27

Congratulations Mrs Rabbit! Sorry you're feeling so awful at the moment. Watch out for dehydration - a friend of mine had terrible m/s (couldn't even keep water down for a while) and had to go on a drip for a few days to get fluids back into her. If you can't keep anything down I would let your GP/midwife know so they can keep an eye on you.

Have you tried the travel sickness bands? Some people seem to think they're quite good. Fortuneately for me I've never experienced this severe sickness so can't advise you any further. I've never heard of acupuncture as a remedy before but obviously my usual advice of eating little and often isn't working for you!

Take care everyone suffering at the moment!

Sprogstersmum · 15/06/2007 20:01

Hello! Can I join you? Got faint BFP today and will test again tomorrow just to make doubly sure but am sure without it really! Am due 22 Feb according to due date calucator. Have 1 DD who is 2 in a few weeks.

Egg · 16/06/2007 08:25

Ahh welcome Sprogstersmum! 22 Feb was my due date with DS in 2006 (he came 2 days early). Congrats on your BFP. Hope you get a stronger line today when you re-test.

Gingermumi, how was the scan? Let us know when you can.

7 weeks today for me .

pobletsmum · 16/06/2007 08:30

Welcome sprogstersmum! Like egg said, I hope the line is darker today.

Egg - 7 weeks - congratulations! I don't know about everyone else, but at this stage, every week seems so important and feels like I'm moving a step away from the 'danger zone'.

Have a good day everyone.

Ginger - hope to hear from you very soon...

beansprout · 16/06/2007 10:59

Ginger - you ok?

beansprout · 16/06/2007 11:09

Welcome to sprogletsmum - congratulations on your bfp!

I'm in a lot of discomfort, pain is probably too strong a word, but it's a bit persistent. Not like the usual period type pains, a bit stronger than that. No blood or anything but it's worrying me. Super charged hormones are not helping. Am trying not to get too stressed but it's not easy.

Bless dh he has taken ds out to the library and told me to rest. He said he will do the cleaning later. He's a lovely man my dh

greedygreedyguzzler · 16/06/2007 11:46

not sure what i am doing on this thread, but i saw your name beany and thought i would check on you. hope the pain eases off soon. i too had lots of really painful period types pains in my first trimester so hopefully its nothing to worry about.

beansprout · 16/06/2007 11:47

I really appreciate the reassurance, thanks greedy!

Slacker · 16/06/2007 11:59

Beansprout, I don't think it's anything to worry about, I haven't had pains as bad as you describe but I have had all sorts of odd twinges and cramps, I think it's just because there's a lot going on in there at the moment!

Egg - congrats on reaching 7 weeks, I'll be joining you tomorrow at that milestone! Pobletsmum, I totally agree, it feels like moving away from the danger zone, but I know that's a bit of a false illusion...but if you spend your whole time worrying about it you'd go mad so I'm trying not to think about things going 'wrong'.

Congrats to Sprogstersmum and any one else new who I didn't notice!

Lljkk - if you don't relish the thought of arguments re your homebirth rights, have you considered an independent midwife? Yes it's a lot of money but a lot of people consider it's worth every penny not to spend their whole pregnancy in a state of anxiety. Even Angela Horn had one for her recent birth, and she's better equipped than most of us to argue the toss with unsupportive midwives! I'm considering hiring one but not sure it's worth the money for me, as I've always had such quick uncomplicated births, but I dunno, I might go for it.

Hope everyone is feeling not too ghastly and enjoying the weekend. I know I am!

rozzyraspberry · 16/06/2007 12:43

Congratulations to sprogser!

Hello to everyone else!

Beansprout - I think a lot of women get odd pains during pregnancy. As long as it's not pains along with heavy bleeding I think that's ok. Try to relax (easier said than done I know) - stressing out will probably make it worse.

Congratulations to Egg and others who have reached weekly milestones! I am 6 weeks today - only around 6 weeks until the scan all being well! Got my GP appointment on Weds to get myself into the system.

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend despite the crappy weather (it's awful here anyway).

Egg · 16/06/2007 16:07

Hello everyone, Beany, I know it is easier said than done but try not to worry. I seem to go to bed every night with abdominal pain, it feels like an aching kind of period pain, and sometimes with shooting pains that scare me a lot. But I seem to get them every night, so maybe because I eat too much in the evening or something. I do remember my GP saying last time that a lot of time the pain is bowel related, even though it feels like it is in the womb.

DH has taken DS out while I do a bit of cooking, I had a nice two hour lie down at lunch and actually feel almost human this afternoon.

Hoping Ginger is just busy doing stuff with the family, she's not one of the ladies with no mumsnet at home at weekends is she?

Re: homebirths, DH has said it is my decision even though he would prefer hospital, but I think I will wait and see what the situation is once we move house, and see if we can even get booked in at the local hospital at a late stage, and work it out from there.

CountTo10 · 16/06/2007 19:41

Hello!! Feeling better today though still very tired all the time. Ds and I fell asleep on the sofa together this afternoon for a couple of hourse which was great. Went to see Swan Lake in London last night and it was great. Did end up crying at various points though much to the amusement of my mum!!!

Got our scan dates today and my first one isn't until 20th July!! That'll be exactly 12 weeks but it feels like ages away!! Am only 7 weeks although that is more than 5!! Just seems to be going so sloooooooooow at the moment whilst noone really knows!!

Egg · 16/06/2007 19:54

Yay Countto10. Same date as me! What time is yours? Mine is 3pm.

Sprogstersmum · 16/06/2007 20:02

Got BFP with digital CLearblue today so definitely pregnant! Re AF type pains and stomach pains - I've had loads for nearly a week now - had them with DD too so am not too worried about them.

gingermumi · 16/06/2007 20:38

Soz to worry you gals! Am fine and so is the peanut! All looked good at scan - strong heart beat - very reassuring. Meant to post earlier but went shopping for maternity bras (have given in!) - got them in mothercare - they have some in sale, and then fell asleep. Was rather emotional at scan, it is quite amazing to see the baby so early. Sonographer explained that i look so big because of position of the fibroid, which has grown 2cm bigger since i got pregnant, it is now 10cm round.

Still feel hideous, am going to try travel-sickness bands someone mentioned.

Congrats and welcome to newbies!

gingermumi · 16/06/2007 20:48

Have got baby-brain really bad! Meant to say, on subject of pox, that I thought they were going but have just found some new ones in my hair.Goodie! Am back to docs monday to confirm, i guess it might explain why i feel extra-crappy!

beansprout · 16/06/2007 21:29

GM - am so glad you and your peanut are ok!

Thanks for all the reassurances about my various cramps and pains. Has helped a lot. Still feel the same but am not as anxious which is a vast improvement!

CountTo10 · 16/06/2007 21:40

Egg - how weird. Mine's scheduled for 2.30pm so not far off!!!

I've been having pains and stuff today but it's so nice knowing I'm not the only one. It makes such a difference having something like this. You don't feel so out of it!!
