I am very about my peas not emerging. Only 2 out of 10 have come up! I give up on veggie gardening, I clearly have no natural talent for it!

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:39

Foxy, ria, derlor and daisy are usually around at this time. Chicks are you there?!

MarsLady · 08/05/2007 21:48

Last chance at the secret shower ladies. I've had some responses and will wait another hour then start matching. Roll up! Roll up!

Is your mum Polish lilkel?

Good luck for your appt sputnik.

Re frozen food (don't take my advice though! this is stuff I have learnt from DH) - lasagne(put a layer of pasta in the dish first and then the sauce won't burn onto the dish when reheating), cottage pie, stews, curry sauces, fish pies, pasta bake, chilli - you can put instant rice with the ones that aren't "complete" meals. And they can all freeze in portion sizes suitable to your requirements. (I might even make a couple of things) Might even consider a slow cooker if you really can't burn stuff in them?

Just catching up...

kittykitt · 08/05/2007 21:53

Hi holly - hope you are feeling a bit better now. Seems like everyone is feeling down / poorly / fed up at this stage.
Bloody torrential rain not helping my mood either..

Anyways, nothing personal, but am off to bed now for an early night. DH working away for a few days so am looking forward to a diagonal sprawl

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:54

Hi ria! How's your face? Was the hosp ok?

BadZelda · 08/05/2007 21:54

Oh Holly - the secret is to propagate LOTS and then thin them out once they've started growing: survival of the fittest in my garden

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:54

Night KK! SLeep well!

BadZelda · 08/05/2007 21:55

plus the other ones might come up later?

justbeme · 08/05/2007 21:57

God - so many conversations going on tonight - it took me ages to scroll thru the last 15 mins stuff!

Holly - you must have bought a duff batch of pea seeds!! That happened to me with some geranium seeds - only 1 out of 10 grew!

Im feelin tired now - my eyes are aching - so think im gonna call it a night -

Sleep well all (if you can)

xx

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:58

BZ I spent ages last year propogating and loving my veggies and I put them in the garden and they all got eaten! Every single one! Loads of peas, mange tout, broad beans, courgettes and sweetcorn! The slugs devoured the whole lot within 2 nights! I was absolutely devestated! This year I thought that I'd just plant them out with loads of slug bait and hope for the best. That didn't work either! I am just not made for gardening!

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:59

Night JBM!!

riabutterflew · 08/05/2007 22:07

Thanks for asking about my face - I look quite good tonight, the rain in town has made my hair curly and the left-over makeup from going out looks nice. AM AMAZED. (also nose not swollen any more so almost normal). Back to hospital later...

daisy - Thanks for the invite to York, sadly DHs working pattern at present (and always) means I can't make it this time (haven't emailed you cos I haven't got email other than the family one and haven't got round to setting one up touse on here yet.) Hope all you northerners have a good time. Wishing I was going to be there really, but I'm not much good at RL.

Right. Here comes the hospital rant for today (apologies to NHS employees before I start). I've mentioned before that I'm on consultant care because of my BMI and AND, so I thought these things might be discussed today in reference to the problems they might cause. Not. "Are you feeling well?", that was it. Blood pressure slightly up - no comment. No concern re swelling. Slight poking of tummy, "seems to be growing normally" (there has never been any suggestion of anything not normal) and then... the award for "comment of the day" - whilst looking at my notes about DS1&2 "you have had a baby before, it will be much like that"! FFS. Now I could have managed all that info myself without the 25 minute drive into town to the hospital. Also no bloods taken as my MW said they would, the hosp MW said they do routine bloods at 36 weeks not 34. Tried to leave a message for my MW to find out if I need to see her to get them done this week and she is off sick til next week and will ring me then.
Was a surprise finding out I am 34 weeks though, but why do they always expect you to know. I think in terms of how long left, not have far gone IYSWIM.

riabutterflew · 08/05/2007 22:14

Sorry such a short visit tonight. DH at home and it's Jonathon Creek.

DH has hurt his back and aggrevated {sp?} his shoulder injury. Am trying to convince him he wants to take tomorrow off as he'll be no use to me when LO gets here and he's completely knackered. (I think after 16 hrs on Sunday and 12+ yesterday, taking the two days he's supposed to have isn't a crime. Not my fault there's no-one to cover except his boss. They are going to have to think of something for his paternity leave aren't they. Apparently his boss said last night that he is legally entitled to it and so he should take it - sorry mate, but there was NEVER a possibility that he wasn't going to.) Sorry, I can't help this ranting.

We are having our last bottle of wine supposedly, before LO arrives. It's V NICE.

Sleep well all. Will be back tomorrow (all day...)

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 22:29

Glad your face is better ria! Hope your dh sorts out his working, sounds like a horrible situation for him. Sleep well xx

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 22:35

I'm going to bed now seeing as there is no-one to talk to ! Must have a bowl of sugar puffs first though! Night x

daisybump · 09/05/2007 05:33

Obviously there's no-one about as its 5:30 in the bloody morning, but I've been awake since three and can't get back to sleep. Think my LOs head might have engaged...visible change in the shape of my bump, and as I rolled over in bed about midnight, I felt an almighty clunk from the pelvic region, followed by quite a bit of pain and discomfort which hasn't entirely gone. Feeling crap and sick now and missing my DH (even if he was being a twunt at the weekend).

DS will be up in half an hour, so little point in going back to bed, but gawd knows how I'll get through breakfast and the school run with him in this state. Gaaaargh, just wish this bub would come out NOW!

daisybump · 09/05/2007 05:43

But, hey...at least my ribs have stopped hurting...small mercies and all that.

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 07:58

Don't you just hate slugs??? I used to keep snails as pets when I was a kid, but these days it's WAR I tell you...I don't even bother trying to grow lupins any more.

They do seem to leave tomoatoes and courgettes alone though?

annobal · 09/05/2007 08:21

Daisy, hope you got back to sleep.

DS2 woke up about 5 times in the night (I'm sure he's an inch taller this morning) and then DS1 got up at 6am so I'm feeling crap today. That, and dreaming about rats - not sure whether I feel sick through lack of sleep or rats.

OK - moan over - will not mention rats again.
