LOL

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:15

OMG - the plumber just found a DEAD RAT in our en-suite!!! I feel sick and am looking for another place to live!

notsolilKel · 08/05/2007 19:15

Kit, I'm now quite ashamed to say I actually did feel I had something to prove when I was working whislt pg last time. Maybe it was cuz my field was completely male dominated (and a good portion of them were total chauvinist farkers). Took a lot of courage to ask for reduced workload at 5mo pg then earlier leave than 'planned' 2.5mo later. The world didn't end tho and I got some desperately needed rest. Shudder to think what would've happened if I'd not done that actually as DS was born 3 wks early as is, with scary breathing difficulties.

btw anyone else have panicky thoughts about DH/DP leaving them for someone younger/thinner/more sporty in these last heifer-like weeks? sometimes I almost fantasise that mine is having clandestine lunch breaks with his attractive underlings. Or is it just a much-quashed libido finding expression in some roundabout kind of way?

catsuitgirl · 08/05/2007 19:24

Lilkel, I just threaten mine and say that if he does decide to run off with some teeny tiny nymphet, I'll track him down and sit on him .

Kittykit, don't envy you at all with builders... am thinking about getting building work done in the Autumn (my mum said that it would be far easier to get it done before catsuitboy Junior starts crawling/walking), and am bracing myself for a total nightmare... ]

catsuitgirl · 08/05/2007 19:25

Annobal, whereabouts in the ensuite?!

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:27

at the rat Annobal.....I'd be out of there like a shot.

Lilkel...I think its normal. DH has gone off the idea completely (he said feeling the baby squirming round over the last few weeks has done nothing for his libido) and only puts up with it if I really press the idea. I did tell him its not normal for a man not to want sex and of course he is away four nights a week doing lord knows what......but it's just the paranoia of feeling fat and unattractive (even though we're not....we're all beautiful ripe fertile bundles of loveliness ). Besides, he didn't have sex with anyone else in the three and a half years we were apart so I think I can relax....

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:27

Toilet plumbing totally enclosed and it was found in there. They'll now have to totally dismantle the toilet and pipework to see what damage done. YUK

catsuitgirl · 08/05/2007 19:29

EUUGH! Poor you.

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:29

{shock] again at the rat...is that en-suite as in right next to your bedroom en-suite? Get on to your landlord and give him what for.....you can't have a baby with rats about. Can you withhold rent until he has it sorted?

NattyThomasandEllen · 08/05/2007 19:30

does the engaging thing count if ur first was a section? cos midwife said baby was engaging at last visit, same numbers i think as kitty. confused now

feelin really nervous about council appoint, im so scared they are going to say tough sh*t, and we really have nowhere to go except MIL and she lives in brixton, and will be under my feet all day as she dosnt work. id rather stay in a B&B!

to be honest whole situation is really depressing me. just want to know whats going on, we may have to put all our possessions into storage and stay in a hostel or something, and i need time to sort that out. ahhh! i hate croydon council!

another thing that has got my goat is our neighbors deciding to start doing major structural work when my baby is due in 3 weeks! drilling and hammering all day long and still going on now! keeping tom up and really irritating.

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:32

We pay 6 months in advance but we're speaking to them about compensation. And yes, it is right next to the bedroom. I feel sick.

kittykitt · 08/05/2007 19:33

Oh my GOD, annobel
That is my worst nightmare - i have a hole in the wall under the kitchen sink at the moment and am convinced a rat is going to get in (i saw one in our compost bin a few weeks ago and have refused to empty the peelings from kitchen since then - it's DH's job).

Get yourself out of there!

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:33

LOL at you sitting on your DH catsuitgirl!! WE should remember that although we may be feeling fat, frumpy and unattractive now, we'll be back to our old selves soon enough, whereas they will still be balding, grey haired and heading fast towards middle age . At least mine will be anyway .

Ria are you around? How did you get on at the hospital?

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:35

Sorry NT&E - I hate the thought that we may have to move - it must be horribly stressful not knowing where you are going to live. When is your appt with the council?

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:38

Don't know Natty is the answer to that. I think it's just a might not engage until labour starts, not a definate. Perhaps Derlor or Foxy can answer that better as they've got more than two?

Good luck with the council and try not to worry about it too much for bubs sake. Aren't there any housing associations you can try? or private lanlords? Can empathise about not wanting to stay with your MIL. Sweet though mine is, she would drive me bonkers.

NattyThomasandEllen · 08/05/2007 19:40

thursday. try not to worry, i know what its like we had cockroaches (NOT my fault scabby people living above us, they came through the ceiling)
and it was hell, i was scrubbing stuff all the time, and the night i found one in thomas's cot i refused to go back there, the landlords moved us to another flat they had which is the one we live in now. which is TOTALLY unsutible with 2 flights of stairs PLUS on set in the actual flat.
its not much to ask to have somewhere safe and clean to live is it?
dont listen to me, feeling blue today.

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:41

Aw sweets...we've all had our share of the blues this weekend. Big virtual ((((((hugs)))))) winging your way.

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:41

DS2 didn't engage until I went into labour - the first 4 hours of labour once my waters broke was him moving down...

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:43

No - not much to ask at all N&T. Please don't worry about it, I am sure that the council will sort something out for you.

daisybump · 08/05/2007 19:45

Sorry Annobal, I thought this one was your first. Same thoughts apply to rats and older kiddies, not just babies....

annobal · 08/05/2007 19:55

No problem Daisy - I'm amazed that neither LOs (or us for that matter) have been ill.....yet

claire74 · 08/05/2007 20:45

Hi all

Kk - echo what Daisy said, my first dd was 3/5 engaged at 37 weeks and didn't go into labour until I was nearly 42 weeks. So hopefully doesn;t mean imminent labour for you, as I totally understand how your feeling regarding the work, like I said before we're in the same boat.
Maybe it would be a good idea to give up work earlier - to reduce your stress levels and you can start getting your home in order and keep the builders on their toes.

kittykitt · 08/05/2007 21:13

Thanks claire - it really helps to hear other peoples experiences
Like i said before, when it's your first pregnancy you just don't know what to expect and constantly fear the worst.
Have got my feet up now with my mug of ovaltine - hoping the relaxation will ease me into a good night's sleep

justbeme · 08/05/2007 21:24

eWWWW - RE the Rat Annobal - My soil pipe upstairs is open at the mo as the bathroom has been ripped out - and I worry that a rat might pop out!!

Just watched that Naked programme - damn - cant remember whats its called - do u look good naked or whatever - really good - i'd love to have all my make up /hair and clothes done by a professional.

hollyandalice · 08/05/2007 21:24

Evening all, where's everyone gone? Don't tell me you're all doing interesting stuff!!

Natty you poor thing, hope the council is able to sort something out for you. I'm sure it'll work out, after all you will be a very high priority.

My dd was very firmly wedged into my pelvis quite early on too, but she didn't come out until she was induced at 12 days over.

I have been feeling pretty bleugh today. Just run down and sick and tired. Hope everyone else has had a good day!
