September 2018 #4: 12 weeks scans and bumps appearing!

New thread for September 2018 due dates (and a few at the end of August)

I'm 40 on Monday and my risk was 1:1700 (t21) and 1:4000 (13&18) Given I started with a risk of 1:82, I'm okay with it. I assumed I'd automatically be high risk but I'm not.

@kirinm was that after an NIPT Test or the standard ones?

Thanks ladies. I'd assumed that my age risk would subsume all the other stuff. Appears, fingers crossed, I may be wrong!

@coastalchick that was after my scan and bloods. My hospital would have offered me a harmony if my risk was greater than 1:500 but I didn't need it.

@kirinm - fab! I was too scared to wait and went straight for test - patience is not a virtue I possess!

I suspect I would've done the same had I not found out that the harmony would be offered. I feel particularly reassured because the head of the fetal medicine unit I'm at was the guy who invented the nuchal translucency scan. I just get the sense that they're pretty thorough.

My nuchal fold yesterday was 1.5mm no idea what that means!

Just wanted to post this that I put on fb for the non fb people as a warning that shortness of breath is normal but also NOT normal at the same time. My SOB was driving me mad so I went to the Dr earlier...

I've got a marked wheeze on my chest and SATS are 96 so I'm on ventolin two puffs 4x a day. If I wasn't pregnant I'd be on steroids. Been told to go straight to a&e if I can't form a sentence or finish a sentence or the the SOB can't be controlled by the inhaler. Apparently pregnancy can bring back dormant asthma. Who knew!

So if you're worried please be seen!!

Scan is perfect! Baby was kicking and wriggling around with a strong heartbeat. All is well.

Baby wasn't cooperative with nuchal measurements so I'm back in three weeks for a quad test but I'm thrilled.

Forgot to say I was moved up by one day to the 5th September so 13+1 now. That extra day matters to me! 😂

Nuchal fold was 2.3mm which seems high compared to the ones ive seen on here ??

Is there another scan on the quads @LostMyBaubles? Thought it was just a blood test? Lovely scan photo even if it isn't the clearest. You can still make out so much!

Anyone else on 2/3+ pregnancies already feeling the quickening? It only happens when I'm sat cross legged and hunched over so my uterus is pressed down and it's low down where the baby would be. I felt it today for two seconds and again just now. No pattern and it doesn't last very long but I swear they're real and not gas.

I asked the sonographer if this was possible and she seemed dubious. Gave me one of those pat on the head responses like "if it feels real to you...but the baby is very small" but I swear I'm not going insane. 13+1.

Mona I definitely am! It's few and far between but I know when I do feel it! I think when you've already had babies you know the difference from gas and flutters too!

Lost my nuchal fold was 1.9 which I thought was big but apparently normal average is something like 2.6 id read (after extensive googling following the scan )

Ah mona thought it was scan.

I felt baby today while she was scanning and the baby was kinda like jolting kinda thing so id say yep you can and I have for a while. 4th pregnancy here

Lost your nub looks an inbetween lol but probably more girly. I have however a different "theory". Someone mentioned it on a Facebook group I'm on and she guessed over 100 scan pics correctly! (Bare in mind this is just for fun but I actually guess based on this now instead of the nub!!)

If there's a white light on the top of the tummy (just like yours has lost ) it's more likely a girl, if there's no light, a boy. Think of that how you may, but I've actually so far never been wrong by looking for the light! Also when I looked back on my other 3 scans, both boys had no light, DD had a light (top of tummy where you'd imagine belly button to be)

As I say, bit of fun before anyone jumps down my throat 😂

Love all of your scan photos. I have mine in two weeks, counting down every day. I am so surprised at how clear the scan photos are. Apparently from week 10 onwards the nausea is meant to subside. I’ve been quite lucky I think in that I’ve only had a few really bad bouts.

For all those affected by the snow I hope you’re all keeping safe, I’m cuddled up reading and -eating my body weight in ice-cream-

@Namechangedtoscream just gone back through to see your pic, I'd say yours looks like a boy as there's no clear light on the tummy

As I say - completely a bit of fun but will be interesting as to how many are actually correct by that 😜
