Awful treatment from MW. I’d complain. Some people really need to develop empathy!!

loveulotslikejellytots · 28/02/2018 17:46

I phoned again at 3ish. I got the same woman but she was slightly better. Apparently the website says they close at 3:30 but that's for clinics, the nurse/S are there till 6. Still not had a phone call back but she did say it may be tomorrow.

Feeling a bit crampy, but I think that's normal at the moment for me, I'm just noticing because I'm looking out for things now. But on the bright side, dinner is done, the house is clean and I'm working from home tomorrow so I get a bit of a lie in. Got to think positive until proven otherwise!

Mrsssmith11 · 28/02/2018 18:09

Just catching up. Sorry some people are still having scares.

My notes are all online this time. Which is fancy. It's not like my area to be ahead of the game!!

CuppaSarah · 28/02/2018 18:46

loveulots she sounds awful, I'm glad she was better second time, but it's still not acceptable to be so rude. She reminds me of a triage midwife I spoke to, she dismissed my pre eclampsia symptoms in such a rude patronising way, I never mentioned them again assuming I was being daft. I ended up VERY ill. Same woman I heard telling a woman with repeated reduced movements was jsut anxious and to stop calling. Some midwives sadly have no people skills and that puts needless stress on people. Really hope you got that call back, you deserve to have your mind put as ease.

loveulotslikejellytots · 28/02/2018 19:29

I've got a scan Monday. The nurse I spoke to was lovely. I explained I had no date for my 12 week scan yet, she said that we wouldn't wait anyway, they need to see if there is anything going on as soon as.

It was quite reassuring that she said I was classed as low priority as it wasn't fresh blood and I wasn't having any pain etc. So Monday was the earliest, but if anything changes I need to ring back and they will see me sooner. I feel better for speaking to her, and now feel like I've over reacted.

DH has told me to take it easy... brilliant advice when you have a 2 year old!

TheBlindspot · 28/02/2018 19:45

@loveulotslikejellytots I'm so glad
you've got a scan! Ha ha a midwife said the same to me a couple of weeks ago when I had some spotting 'try to get some rest, put your feet up' hmmmm yes ok I'm sure DD will let me just chill for a few days. 23 month old children are so reasonable like that! Hmm

loveulotslikejellytots · 28/02/2018 19:57

@TheBlindSpot I've got to work from home tomorrow with dd here. My boss knows and has just said get what you can done, but it's going to be interesting! Mum was having her, but she can't drive at the mo, so I was dropping dd off. Usually an hour round trip. It took my friend an hour and a half to do just one leg of the same journey today. By the time I drop her off it'll be time to come home if the weathers no better.

Mrsssmith11 · 28/02/2018 21:03

I had to work from home today because of the weather, our office got closed, also dd's nursery was closed. Both are going to be closed tomorrow too.

Trying to keep a 3yo happy while also trying to be productive for work didn't go well.

HanSpan1 · 01/03/2018 07:41

So im 13+1 and ive got my ‘second’ scan today at 10am, had my 12 week one last week but baby was doing hand stands and not in the correct position to measure so fingers crossed baby plays ball today! Saying that i hope the snow holds off and doesnt come PITA.

coastalchick · 01/03/2018 08:36

Had my bloods taken for Iona test on Tues but they haven't made it off the bloody island yet (we live on a rock) because of the bag weather!!! Apparently they only have a 6 day window to test - guessing they might not even get it tomorrow even if it makes it off again - know that I can have another one done but not the point - as I'm 40 in september and risks are increased, we wanted to know all was ok before telling people and now might not be able to tell people soon.

Very very annoying

CuppaSarah · 01/03/2018 08:50

Good luck everyone with scans today, hope the weather is mild where you are so you cna get to appointments easily.

Anyone else glad we're having summer babies right now? Poor women who are due right now!

ShutTheFridgeUp · 01/03/2018 09:18

I'm pretty sure we'll all be moaning about the heat and being fat by July 😂

Nixen · 01/03/2018 09:19

How frustrating @coastalchick I hope your results get sent off soon!

I was saying that to DH last night @cuppasarah - we might be suffering through the summer heat heavily pregnant but at least we won’t have the anxiety of worrying about getting to the hospital in the snow!

Fia256 · 01/03/2018 09:32

I'm dreading having a summer baby! Especially as we will literally go through the entire summer heavily pregnant! DD is a May baby but the day she was born we had a heatwave, it was around 26 degrees! I was honestly so bloody miserable! She was born at 6.30pm and we didn't get discharged till around midnight, yet those few hours sat in the hospital were unbearable as it was so hot and stuffy in there!

Not painting a great picture for us all, I know Grin although at least we won't have all those layers to get on before going anywhere!

blondie1001 · 01/03/2018 09:47

DS was born in February and DH bought a Landrover especially to get me to hospital if there was snow. Of course it was something like the warmest February on record! I'm definitely not looking forward to being a whale in the heat this summer especially since all my maternity clothes seem to be black over the bump jeans!

CuppaSarah · 01/03/2018 09:56

My DD was born in a freezing Feb, with threats of snow around my due date. The anxiety was utterly awful. I've only had winter babies, so pregnancy in the heat is new to me. But I have maternity hot pants already! My stretchmarked thighs won't stop me!

Nixen · 01/03/2018 10:04

I think I’ll just live in maxi dresses and pray we don’t have as hot a summer (Home Counties here and we had 3 weeks straight of temps over 30 degrees last year 😥)

coastalchick · 01/03/2018 10:20

Seraphine have some lovely summer dresses - I bought a load last year when was pregnant as we were heading to Sicily in September and I was worried they’d sell out if I didn’t get them in summer. As it happened, I miscarried end August but still wore them in Sicily anyway as was too bloated to wear my normal stuff.

Presuming I hold onto this one (10+4 today according to LMP but 11+1 according to Tuesdays scan) I already have a nice summer wardrobe!

Namechangedtoscream · 01/03/2018 10:56

My niece is a September baby. My sister laughed when I said I was having one too because it is so utterly horrible being 30+ weeks in the sun. Especially as a pp said here in the south east. Much of the summer was over 25 last year and hit over 30 for several weeks too.

HanSpan1 · 01/03/2018 12:07

Scan all done! Everything went well, took the Nuchal measurement which was 1.5mm so that was good. Just got to see if i hear anyting back from the bloods.

September 2018 #4: 12 weeks scans and bumps appearing!
RedRobin7 · 01/03/2018 12:35

@Nixen So true, last summer was painfully hot and we were having our bathroom done and spent 3 weeks without a bath or shower! Had to ask family if we could go over to shower in the evenings but was disgustingly sweaty by morning!! I've already told my husband we are buying one of those expensive dyson fans to keep our bedroom cool. No question about it - he won't want to deal with a grumpy, hot, heavily pregnant lady! 😂

MrsCaecilius · 01/03/2018 12:52

As I'm 39 I think its highly likely I'm going to come out as high risk for Downs etc at my 12 week scan. I've seen mention of a new programme rolling out the NIPT test on the NHS in 2018 for women identified as high risk:
www.babycentre.co.uk/x25019921/what-is-non-invasive-prenatal-testing-nipt#ixzz58V7ZwrHO

Does anyone else know whether this is the case?

dingdongdigeridoo · 01/03/2018 12:56

I'm not looking forward to the summer. I already feel fat and sweaty during the hot weather, so it's going to be a tough one! Plus i'll have my DS6 to entertain during the school holidays, so that's going to be a bugger. He'll have two weeks of holiday club, but that's all the school runs.

I might have to buy a very expensive fan too.

coastalchick · 01/03/2018 13:03

Not sure re NHS. We paid privately for ours this week as I’m 39 too and figured if it came back high risk I’d work myself into a frenzy and have NIPT anyway so decided to go straight for it.

Plenty of older ladies pushing out healthy babies though

blondie1001 · 01/03/2018 13:05

@MrsC I'm 39 too and my risk was 1 in 3500 (or something - might have been 3700). That was from the nuchal and a blood test. You might be OK!
