Please note that I have put scan and due date stats in a different thread in case you are looking for them.

Hey Filbrit, don't be too despondent at the low lying placenta. Mines a bit on the low side as well but apparently quite a few are at this point. As your baby grows the placenta usually shifts up or so the doc told me when I had my little scare the other week....

Pennypops · 01/05/2007 17:15

Sorry Filbrit I also forgot to say congrats on your scan - another girl! Most excellent....

MrsMar · 01/05/2007 18:03

Hello everyone, congrats on all the happy scans and soooo many girls. I'm trying desperately to not care about what I get, but I would soooo love to have the first boy in my family, the last one was my cousin who's a strapping 30 year old now! Selfish I know!

Kinki, I'm not having my scan for another two weeks either, I'll be 22+1 then. The wait is agony! I don't know how come I got such a late one either, so naive at this baby making lark I didn't even query the date. Mind you, I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to end up having this baby in October. EVERYONE in my family is pathologically late, and that includes being born. I was more than two weeks late (thank God, would have been called Marie-France if I was born on due date, 14th July, French independence day! eeek!) I really ought to pop in and say hello to the October lot.

Sorry to hear about low lying placentas Filbrit and mMooMar... I'm no expert but I've heard planned c-sections are much less traumatic than emergencies, at least you'll be able to take arnica and other stuff that'll make recovery quicker.

I hope the scan went ok auschick... good luck to everyone else having scans tomorrow.

Take care xx

canadianmum · 01/05/2007 18:23

Hello all, and welcome to all the new mums to be. This is definitely a popular place! More girls, should we call this the pink pages???

My scan isn't until 22 weeks as well, but that is because they need to check something re: my previous pre-eclampsia. Finally had my 2nd antenatal appt today and heard bubba's heart beating away which was nice. Also was given an appt with the consultant ob at 23.5 weeks due to my "high risk". Seems the appts are coming thick and fast now.

Re: low lying placentas. A friend had one at her 20 wk scan but it moved right up by the end and she had a normal vaginal birth. But hey, if you had a nightmare first time round then an elective cs would be pretty welcome . I am desperate for a VBAC as long as it is short, painless and I don't break a sweat - that happens right ?

Nettee · 02/05/2007 08:06

Morning everyone, congratulations everyone with good scan results and on all those girls. Good luck to Hannahshaunt and Clainne today - let us know....

My bump has popped out properly now and I am loving showing it off. feeling lots of little kicks too which is fab. can't believe we are half way through. feels like it has gone so quickly. We will all be chatting about weaning before we know where we are.

Low lying placentas usually do move up and out of the way so fingers crossed for those of you waiting on another scan to find out.

Hopeitwontbebig · 02/05/2007 09:22

Congrats LoopyLouLisa, another girl - WOW!! 31st August, that's my DH's birthday!!

Good luck Hannahsaunt and Clainne for your scans today.

Right, wish me luck, I'm off to face Milton Keynes shopping centre. GOT to find this dress today, OMG and shoes............. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!

Will post later and let you know how I got on..

Pennypops · 02/05/2007 09:24

A very nice lady offered me her seat on the tube this morning for the first time EVER. Was so surprised and pleased it has out me in a good mood for the whole day....

MrsMar · 02/05/2007 09:38

cor, lucky you pennypops!! I've got backache from forcing my belly out so much this morning, but nothing, nada!! Not until everyone piled off at another station did I get a seat!!

Good luck with the dress shopping HIWBB and everyone else having a scan today (can't remember if anyone is, we're such a big group surely there are!)

xx

NewDKmum · 02/05/2007 11:55

Congrats to all with your scans and good luck to those of you with scans coming up!

I think we will have to move house sooner rather than later . Yesterday when I was walking down our road, morning sickness hit me suddenly and I had to get down on my knees and throw up in someone's front garden. Classy, eh? Just had to share it with someone

Chattyhan · 02/05/2007 12:29

Hi all, Again i can't believe how much has happened since i was last here but great to hear all the brilliant scan results - i've still got 1 1/2 wks to go but i'm hoping the girl trend continues!!!

I've tried all the online gender predicters and had quite a mixed result - i seem to have found two different chinese charts some say boy and some say girl. We'd love a girl this time but if it's a boy at least we've got everything!

I've got a low lying placenta again which resulted in a sex ban in feb because of bleeding. I had a low lying placenta in my last pregnancy and it moved around 32 wks.

Sophus - my hayfever has begun and i sympathise with the sneezing weeing thing! I keep having sneezing fits which hurt my stomach muscles and send me running for the loo!!!

For those of you who didn't bloom - an old wives tale says expecting a girl means they steal their mothers looks!!

MMooMar · 02/05/2007 13:10

(Sorry guys just posted this on the stats thread....DOH!)

Hope everyone is doing well, keep on getting those seats on public transport ladies.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S anyone off to the Babyshow in Brum?

hannahsaunt · 02/05/2007 14:01

Just back at work from my 20wk scan. It was a very non compliant baby - hope it's not a sign of things to come! And it's probably ...

A boy

Rin23 · 02/05/2007 14:56

Lovely scan news.
I am not having mine for 3 weeks - will be 23 weeks. Have I said this already? Sorry to moan but clearly I too was not clued up enough to demand it any earlier! Patience...
Can you believe it - someone in my office didn't realise I was pregnant. I think he thought I had just got fat. How depressing! Also there is no hope that he didn't notice because I am very much showing and with big sticky out tum (and that's not to mention my arse which is also sticking out, groan). Ho hum, maybe should wear baby on board badge at all times.
Also, is anyone avoiding the sun because of getting uneven tan pigmentation? I love basking in the sun but don't want lot of marks... any advice?

Hopeitwontbebig · 02/05/2007 15:08

Hannahsaunt, a boy, hey you're bucking the trend!! Congrats x

Rin23, not too sure about the tan thing, will have to keep an eye on that one. PS I'm totally with you on the pregnant sticky out bum thing

MmooMar, I was thinking about going to the Birmingham Baby Show. Still haven't decided yet... Are you going? Hope DS starts behaving himself after his nap

NewDKmum, you poor thing, hope you're feeling better. Not funny huh..

Hoorah, I'VE FOUND A DRESS!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought it from Wallis, it isn't maternity, but it fits really nicely, shows off my bump really well too. I went to ALL the usual maternity shops incl: Dorothy Perkins, Jojomamanbebe, Mothercare, Pumpkin Patch etc etc. Anyway, I'm pleased with it, shoes, well I wasn't quite as successful, but then I keep buying shoes for Christmas parties then they end up hidden in my wardrobe, gonna have a dig (literally) later.

Rin23 · 02/05/2007 15:16

Well done for finding a dress, and actually I think lots of non maternity stuff is a smoother fit - the mat stuff tends to assume you have a huge bump with lots of gathers and I end up looking ready to pop! I have my sister in law's wedding in August - when I prob. will be ready to pop so god only knows what I'm going to wear. I'm thinking - a sack? Anyway, I've scheduled worrying about that one to nearer the time.

hannahsaunt · 02/05/2007 15:23

Glad you have a dress, HIWBB!

I thought I was huge and clearly pregnant until I met up with 2 other expectant mums yesterday, one due next week and the other in 6 weeks; I looked positively sylph-like and un-pg. So in denial about the next 20 weeks!

Hope other scanners had good news today (I did find the whole thing quite stressful). Good luck to all those having scans in the next couple of days.

May go to bed now as am in a taxi at 0610h tomorrow morning with ds1 to go to a conference (his school is shut for the elections so he's coming with me to go on a jolly with his grandparents whilst I discuss the concept of personal tutoring for undergraduate students...)

auschick · 02/05/2007 15:37

Hi everyone. Scan yesterday was ok - all looks good. Must have been the positive thoughts from everyone here . Didn't find out the sex this time around, thought the surprise might be nice! Must be time for some more boys in September I think!

We have a wedding in July as well. Last time around I had a wedding to go to when I was 38 weeks. The dress I had planned to wear fitted up until about 4 days before the wedding. It was the boobs, not the bump that was the problem (I'm not used to having to worry about boobs!!). Why do all the wedding invites turn up when you're pregnant with nothing to wear??

BefnalBub · 02/05/2007 16:16

Thread hijack!!! Just popping over from the may thread to congratulate clainne on first post! Must say that you are all entering the best bit of pregnancy where you can really settle in and enjoy it whilst also looking great. We who are about to pop (and look it) salute you!
x

ThomCat · 02/05/2007 16:21

\Great news auschick. God I'm gaging for my scan now. Was feeling it move loads but it's gone quiet on me again and now I need a visual.

Going to have to work out how I'm going to carry my 2 girls around when I get bigger. DD2 isn't a problem but DD1 still needs lifting in and out of car, hmmmmm

I'm feeling blooming I have to say. This is the easy bit! No sickness now and not too big that we're uncomforable all the time. I cna still sort of lay on my tummy and turn over easily in bed etc.

Someone offered to pick up something I had dropped the other day and I said 'noooooooooo, let me do it while I still can, please!'

MrsMar · 02/05/2007 16:27

Hi befnalbub... good luck for the coming few weeks! I must say it doesn't feel like the best bit for me, but it is a billion times better than first trimester. I don't think I could do that again (until I get broody again of course!!!)

Well done on the dress HIWBB - nice to get it all sorted isn't it? I've just ordered a lovely black bolero jacket from M&S Autograph range to go with my lovely plum silk dress from JJMMBB for the wedding I've got at the beginning of June. I'm hoping the boobs don't grow too big as I've got another wedding in August and was hoping to wear the same thing again!

Congrats on the boy hannahsaunt!

Rin - I should be taking care of the sun, but I just can't resist. I went on the pill for about a year a few years ago and it really disagreed with me so I came off, but not before collecting a whole range of delightful blobs on my face that are still there! I think the hormones in the pill acted in the same way as pregnancy hormones do. When I saw my gp about the time it was taking me to conceive I mentioned the funny pigment to her, thinking the pill might have damaged me horribly in some way, and she said there was nothing to worry about health wise. She did say "oh you're going to have fun when you do get pregnant though" and low and behold I'm the blotchiest person in blotchyville! When I went skiing in March it was baking hot and I had factor 60 on and I still got funny blobs on me! Frustrating, but nothing a bit of make up can't hide! I hope you don't get it though, I've spent a fortune on microdermabrasion to get rid of it (didn't work, but I did spend another fortune on Bliss stuff while there which was nice!)

Blimey, lots to say (not much work to do either ) hehe!

MrsFish · 02/05/2007 16:57

HIWBB - good news on the dress front. I have a wedding in august when I will be 8 months, I bought one dress already which is a failsafe hopefully, but will be on the lookout for something else too.

Just had some white linen trousers delivered from Next and they fit fab at the moment so am chuffed. I could do with some more tops though. I bought a couple from Mothercare but at the moment they make me look far bigger than I am due to the material, must go and have a look at some non maternity stuff.

Pennypops · 02/05/2007 17:50

HIWBB - Great news on the frock. I only hope I manage to pull of a similar coup for the wedding I have in June. I'm scared of looking like an egg. Hey ho.

Congrats Hannahs Aunt & Auschick! By the law of averages the next few must be boys! Mind you if the old wives tale that Chattyhan refers to is true then I'm definitely cooking a girl in there.

DKMum - I feel for you. I still get sick if I am tired and have so far vomited in the street, on railway station concourses and across my own landing. At least you didn't have to clear it up

Rin23 - Personally will be cautious in the sun as my skin has wierded out totally and uneven pigmetation just might push me over the edge.

canadianmum · 02/05/2007 19:16

Congrats loopylou, hannahsaunt and auschick -more great news and finally another boy !

I was supposed to be going to a very good friend's wedding but it is in.....early October.....in Scotland (I live in London) so don't think I am going to make that one .

I have certainly noticed that I am tanning more easily and need to be careful to put on sunscreen if spending more than a couple minutes in the sun. No weird blotches yet but I will keep an eye out .

A French friend told me that babies are more often born in the days around the full moon so I looked it up and evidently there is a full moon on Aug 28th and Sept 26th. However, another website said that this theory is complete rubbish, but we shall see eh ladies????? Anyone want to change their due date ?

Another website said that there is a correlation between having a long labour and having a boy (no surprise there then!) and that women with bad heartburn do tend to have hairy babies.

OP posts:
MrsFish · 02/05/2007 19:31

Re - heartburn and hairy babies, I am starting to suffer terribly with it and I did with ds too, he was born with a full head of blonde hair
