MrsMar · 26/04/2007 19:24

cor you're a fast typer, I was trying to get the 1000th message in on the last thread!!

poppy34 · 26/04/2007 19:31

canadianmum - reading your thread about yoga-am trying pilates myself. Someone told me that it can be helpful in preventing pregnancy related niggles (friend ended up with quite a bad back after her pregnancy) so thought it worth a try.

It was better than the trainer who I had before -fine when you're healthy but seemed to keep forgetting your pregnant and loading on weights etc til you reminded him...not inspiring (but I should have known that when I realised he couldnt actually count easily to 15 so I had to do it before)

FilBrit · 26/04/2007 20:20

Hi everyone

Just been catching up on everyone's news as haven't been onto MN for a while. I can't believe we got to 1000 messages already!

There are so many of us too, it's lovely although I'm a bit worried it'll be 2 in a bed (at least!) in the labour ward!

So exciting hearing how how everyone's scans are going and whether people are having little baby girls or boys or even surprises! I have my scan on Tuesday so wil update you all then, I can't wait to find out what I'm having.

I've only got 9 weeks left at work now as I'm leaving as soon as possible as we're moving to the Philippines a week later to live there for a year, and I don't want to fly too late. I've just packed a huge box to ship out of all my baby things from DD who is now 3, which is making having a new baby seem very real now! I've also made a calendar that I keep on my desk at work, I'm busy crossing the days off until I leave work, which is bit sad I know but just can't wait to finish and immerse myself in all things baby!

ThomCat · 26/04/2007 20:48

Well done Canaianmum

I'm TeeCee back to my old original mumsnet name btw

Hello on our lovely shiny new thread!!

Holly you poor poor thing you. What an awful thing to have happened. SO glad that bloody woman got chucked off her bus, I really hope she's feeling like utter crap about herself now, there's no need for that sort of behaviour. Are you feeling ok? Hope so.

TeeCee/ThomCat and MrsMar, thank you so much for your help with shopping , you're bloomin stars you are!

Minimenace- How'd your scan go today? Have you found out the sex?

Hopeitwontbebig · 26/04/2007 21:19

OMG There's a due in January thread!!!!!!!!!!!!

toadstool · 26/04/2007 22:17

Evening on the new thread! Well done Holly on getting so much support from the people on the bus! Hurrah for all the girls, boys and surprises! Here, pretty as our house buyer has just withdrawn "for personal reasons" leaving us to rethink the entire lot (only the entire relocation to a new town this Summer, where to give birth, school for DD... grrr). Also overheard a conv in a shop this w/e as I sloped around the shelves. Owners thought I couldn't understand Spanish:
'Eh, what was going on in your life when you were the age that pregnant woman over there is now?'
'Abuela.' (Grandmother)
Cheers guys!!!

Nicki10 · 27/04/2007 09:36

Morning Girlies.

Holly29 how awful for you. Some people are just so rude. There is no excuse for shoving someone, pregnant or not. I also hope she feels rotten but knowing that sort she probably doesn't.

I am 19 weeks today and I can't wait to make the 20 week half way mark. I am looking very pregnant now but I still think i is just fat!.

Sorry to hear about the house Toadstool I hate house hunting under normal circumstances so can completely understand how annoying it is now when there is such an important time frame!.

What has happened to our lovely sunshine? Just as I have been and brought this summers Birkenstocks and Havaianas the weather goes grumpy .

Well I am going to my parents for the weekend so I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I look forward to catching up on Sunday.

xxx

Holly29 · 27/04/2007 10:05

Thanks for all your messages of support! I walked to work today...

One more tip re: dresses for weddings, there is a fab US wesbite called A Pea in the Pod which does beautiful fab dresses, really expensive but they have some in a sale and will post to the UK. Worth a wee look.

drcaroline · 27/04/2007 11:28

Hello everyone

I'm new here and due in September.

Nicki10 - I'm also 19 weeks today - are you due on September 21st as well?

I got annoyed about people shoving to get on the bus this morning as well and just stood back a bit, but then had to stand for the whole journey. Oh well! I've just got a "Baby on board" badge from London Underground so I might try wearing that next week and see if I get offered a seat.

Caroline

Hopeitwontbebig · 27/04/2007 11:31

Welcome drcaroline!! like your name... not a Green Wing fan by any chance??

Is it your first baby?

hannahsaunt · 27/04/2007 12:33

Gosh - another therad already (have missed the end of the last thread; but like missing an episode of a soap!). This one is fighting to be as heavily medicated as ds1 - still on buccastem for sickness, added in codydramol for migraine yesterday and received a script for iron tablets through the post today!!! Would normally resist the iron but they are concerned about my having another PPH having had a big bleed after ds1 (apparently they are then more common in third labours).

Welcome to even more newcomers! Hope all are keeping well.

Rin23 · 27/04/2007 12:35

Hello everyone on the new thread, great idea!
Nicki10/Dr Caroline - I too am 19 weeks today! Also looking forward to the 20 week "half way" mark (gulp!)
That really was a shocking story Holly29, I'm so glad you managed to point out that you were pregnant! I think with my current rollercoaster emotions I'd have wept! Baby on board badge sounds like a great idea, though I cycle in normally - at least that way I get a seat .
Not sure where the sun has gone but they did say that it was going to get nicer this afternoon... I have been shivering all morning with no tights (they don't fit well over bump) so it blimmin well better. Also have streaming head cold - booooo!
hope everyone has a fab weekend!

LoopyLouLisa · 27/04/2007 12:41

Holly, I bought a 'bump on board' tshirt from peacocks a few weeks ago and I always make sure i'm wearing it if i need to go on public transport. it might seem a bit silly but it does seem to work and i feel a bit faint if i stand for too long.

Toadstool, how rude! what shop was that? i live in bristol too

x

Holly29 · 27/04/2007 13:33

Great tips ladies, I am going to try to get one of these badges. I also feel a bit faint if I stand for too long.

DrCaroline, hello! We need to add you onto the stats...

Pennypops · 27/04/2007 14:34

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet for a while - had a trade show for the last 3 days and the week has been generally manic. Have just been catching up withe everyones news - its taken me a while! Glad all the scans have gone well. I can't respond to everything I would like to as I will be here all afternoon but will just say OH MY GOD re Hollys bus story - what a cow. Glad she got removed!!

Well, in addition to scan on Monday I also had a bit of an incident last Friday. Had a really bad stitch for about an hour then started to bleed quite badly. Work colleagues took me to UCH in Euston who I have to say were bloody brilliant. Turned out I have a low lying placenta (nice) that prob caused the bleed but its got plenty of time to sort itself out between now and September. Got to see the baby a little ahead of schedule and she or he was kicking away like a goodun quite oblivious to the acute anxiety suffered by its mother! In summary, all is well although I had to have one of those nice AntiD injections in my bum! Lovely!

Then we had the 20 week scan on Monday and everything was still fine. Gender was apparently visible to the scanner lady but we stuck to our decision to keep it a surprise. We do however have a beautiful pic where our little angel appears to be snoozing peacefully and sucking its thumb! Obviously I blubbled my eyes out especially when I was shown the chambers in the heart and you could see the blood pumping. It was just incredible. I have been a bit up and down with the old hormones and do get quite tearful and very melancholy at times but then I feel a kick or somersault and feel so overwhelmed with love for this little thing that I almost forget to breathe.

Lots of love to all - am gobsmacked we hve hit 1000 messages! xx

MMooMar · 27/04/2007 15:42

Hi ladies .

Welcome to our growing family drcaroline.

Holly ,Glad you are OK,loving the fact that she got turffed off the bus...hope her whole day was equally as bad .

oh hannahsaunt,This LO is really putting you through the mill, time should speed by now though since we are at or nearing half way point.
Reached mine yesterday then started to panic when I realised how much we still have to get done on the house.

Filbrit,How nice...Did you used to live in the Philippines before, remember seeing something about it.

Went shopping this morning and stocked up on Marks and spencers mini jelly babies while I was out,3 for 2 ...even better!
Also brought some spinach and ricotta quiche from Sainsburys deli counter to have with some salad for tea tonight but its that nice the thin slithers I keep cutting are getting bigger ....yum!

catch you all later girls .
XXXXXXXXXX

P.S
Looks like it will be a nice weekend girls, weather loads better this afternoon than this morning.

MMooMar · 27/04/2007 15:49

Come in minimenace and Jasper74 ,we need your updates.
Come in ladies please.

By the way ...Did ANYONE ever bloom on that last thread?

I never.....

Bye.

minimenace · 27/04/2007 18:33

(sorry just posted this on the old thread)

Hi All,

Scan went well .... sorry no confirmation we are going to wait for a suprise. although the guys in my office are convinced I am having a boy as in one of the scan pictures he looks like he is drinking a pint.

:Wavey: Mrs Fish. I'll email you my scans and phone you again soon.

I have spent £375 on Bras so far, someone should start up a maternity bra rental service .... lol

canadianmum · 27/04/2007 19:17

Great news minimenace and pennypops, still feels like my scan is years away.......

minimenace - £375? Seriously? Wow, I have spent about £100 and thought that was a lot, now I don't feel so guilty

drcaroline, I will add you to the stats list on the other thread. Do you want to tell us where you live, your age and details of any other children? Not that we are nosy....

mmoomar, I think there might have been 5 minutes a couple of weeks ago where I bloomed, but then I wilted again sadly

Had quite an exciting day today, went to GAP maternity, and found a lovely pair of jeans and a cute top. Also found a nice cot that doesn't cost £600, from Mamas and Papas (only £160). We don't need a cotbed as I will have 2 junior beds to hand down to bubba but unfortunately their cot railings got chucked out when we moved house, oops! I haven't ordered the cot yet, just added it to my mental list to order after the scan.

OP posts:
FlossALump · 28/04/2007 08:49

I've spent about 32 pounds on bras so far! Two (naughty!) underwired ones for the weddings at primark, for 12 and have been surviving on two bras from M and S the rest of the time. I am a bit scuzzy though (not to mention fairly broke!)

Hopeitwontbebig · 28/04/2007 11:59

Happy Saturday lovely ladies!!

My goodness, bras, what a nightmare....

Congrats minimenace on your scan

Canadianmum, details please re that cot!!! I was in Mamas and Papas on Thursday and they have some beautiful cots.

Off to shops with DS2 in a minute, going to take some stuff back for a refund, I call it 'Retail Bulimia'!!!!!!!!

What fab weather, have a lovely day. x x

MrsMar · 28/04/2007 15:29

Hello everyone, another lovely weekend and another weekend I'm at work!!! Bleurgh!! Still did just have ANOTHER Mint Magnum to cheer myself up!

Welcome aboard Drcaroline...

I will hit the halfway mark on wednesday, feel I should mark it with some kind of celebration, but not sure what. DH really disapproves if I have so much as a sip of wine. It'll have to be chocolate again!

Canadianmum - I rather shamelessly went to Gap maternity on Kensington High Street the very first day they started selling it there! Am rather happy with my new combats at teeshirt!!

I've made a decision not to buy a cot until after my scan which is over two weeks away. In fact I don't have anything yet! Won't be able to empty the spare room of all our stuff until after the bathroom is done and the whole house painted (we'll need to use the spare room to sleep in while our bedroom is being done) so looks like LO's bedroom won't really be done until July. Then it'll be all hands to pumps as from mid July we'll have to move all the old furniture out to storage, paint, get carpets cleaned, get new furniture and get carpenter to build wardrobes! It's gonna be busy!

I hope everyone has a lovely time in the sunshine! Don't feel too sorry for me as when you're all off to work on Monday morning I'll still be in bed hehehehehe!

Take care xxx

MrsMar · 28/04/2007 16:27

Oh and as for blooming...

blooming tired..

blooming fat...

blooming uncomfortable...

but so far no blooming blooming!!!

poppy34 · 28/04/2007 18:13

bloated yes ,blooming no.

MrsMar (or anyone)-do you know if there is anywehre you can find out which gaps stock maternity stuff? I'd really like a look but not sure if I want to traipse to oxford street etc and find they don't do it (found that when I made a trip to the H&M up there and found they don't do maternity stuff...and its not somewhere I'd generally visit cos of the pleasing atmosphere)

Spent 35 maternity bras - need some more but refused to spend any cash on the drab looking granny things which were the only thing in my size when looked in blooming marvellous today
