Had my scan today - all good with baby and NT measurement. Measuring 12+2 so a day off, new EDD 8/8 - but not going to focus on that as DS was 7 days later and apparently only 5% of babies are actually born on their due date!

@E2017 yes, completely felt that way, I've been under way too much stress the past month. Now I'm worrying myself about emotional trauma in the womb!

So sorry for the losses and sorry I'm not better at keeping up, but I am reading and thinking of you all. x

CumbrianExile · 26/01/2018 20:21

Speaking of pregnancy hormones, if you have chance take a look at this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3150785-Your-best-pregnancy-meltdown
Its really funny and a sign of what may be to come Grin

BertieBotts · 26/01/2018 20:29

I borrowed it from a friend, it's a super dodgy Chinese one with terrible English on the packet but seems to work!

The thing with dopplers is not to freak out if you can't find anything because it can be due to position and not a sign something is wrong. And never ever to use one past 24 weeks - because at this point if you are anxious something is wrong you need to see a doctor asap, not waste time listening for things which you won't be able to interpret. I personally am ok with it for the early stages where I know they couldn't do anything anyway. Just to keep me going between scans :) I plan to stop using it once I'm feeling movement.

StrawberryLemonade · 26/01/2018 20:32

amzq I had to empty my bladder at the scan yesterday too - she asked me to empty “some” out but not all so that was difficult! DH was amazed that I managed to only have half a wee!

Re home Doppler - I have borrowed one from a friend and like using it. There are really good reasons for not recommending them though - kicks count have good info about this. The only reason I feel confident with it is I’ve used them before in a professional capacity so know what I’m listening for. There a surprising number of noises down there that aren’t the heartbeat! But having said that I do like having it at home.

12+3 and still nauseous and off my food. I just want to enjoy going out for dinner again!

Subo2018 · 26/01/2018 22:04

Hi Ladies, can anyone provide some experience or stories if they have been through the same.

I went for a scan last Saturday and they asked me to come back on Wednesday as it was measuring a bit small. So we went back and they said our babies head is small for the dates I think I am. They then called our EPU which referred us to a hospital in London.

I called the scan people back and said do they think it could be Anencephaly to which they said yes. They didn't want to give me the name as they thought I'd google it. Which clearly I did. My partner and I are devastated and have to wait till Monday for confirmation.

Has anyone been told their baby might have this but actually they were wrong? I'm meant to be 12 weeks today but when they measured on Wednesday they said I was 10+1 and couldn't get a good measurement as the baby was curled up. Has anyone else's baby been curled up at their appointment with a baby approx 10/11 weeks?

Any stories would really be appreciated.

Expecto · 26/01/2018 22:05

Spoke to DH about it...he isnt really keen...says what will be will be and that I need to stop worrying. Don’t know whether to accept that as good advice or rip his head off and shot down his neck 🤔. We’ve been though a lot through our last pregnancy... it’s natural for me to worry so why tell me to stop worrying like all of a sudden I’ll just stop...

CaffeineDragon · 26/01/2018 22:43

@Subo2018 I don't I'm sorry, but wanted to say that we're here for you and I'm so sorry you have to go through this, regardless of the outcome. Will keep everything crossed for you.

CumbrianExile · 26/01/2018 22:45

I'm sorry Subo, no experience of this either. Thinking of you Thanks

Subo2018 · 26/01/2018 22:49

Thanks you @CumbrianExile and @CaffeineDragon. It's so hard for us to accept this as a possibility specially as the little one was moving around everywhere and the heartbeat was great. We so hope they have the information wrong but they see health babies all the time so just know when something doesn't look normal. Just trying to prepare ourselves for either outcome Sad

StrawberryLemonade · 27/01/2018 07:23

Ah subo I don’t have any experience but we are all heee virtually hand holding. How awful having to wait to find out more. Was it a private scan you had? Sometimes the equipment there isn’t as good as the modern ones to be able to see things clearly so I hope you get answers on Monday and keeping everything crossed for good news xx

Whichoneisit · 27/01/2018 07:27

subo I’m so sorry you’ve been facing uncertainty. Have you got an appointment in London on Monday or will you get some results then? I’m hoping the weekend passes really quickly and for a positive result for you.

Stephiewoo · 27/01/2018 07:42

@Subo2018 Sorry I've no experience of this at all, other than when my 1st daughter was born, they said her head was too small. She's perfectly fine.

I hope you get some answers and do keep asking questions, it will empower you to make informed decisions.

Gem173 · 27/01/2018 08:40

@Subo2018 very sorry I have not experienced this either but I could still as it’s my first baby and I haven’t had my scan yet. Must be devasting for you to hear, fingers crossed all works out well for you on Monday, will be thinking of you Flowers

Babydreaming · 27/01/2018 09:34

@subo2018 I don’t have that experience but do have experience of abnormal scans and the stress it brings. My son had a dilated kidney and was measuring small on his scans (not his head though) and I had to have an amniocentesis to check for genetic conditions. It was an extremely stressful and heartbreaking situation and in the end they didn’t know exactly what it was but I had to have loads of monitoring throughout the pregnancy. It was a really stressful few months and I always feared the worst. I was also referred to specialists at St. George’s. It wasn’t genetic and wasn’t anything I could have prevented. He was born at term at a healthy 6lb15oz and does have problems but he’s doing well on treatment and a happy little boy. Please keep us informed and you can always talk on here and offload! Thinking of you.

Thank you to all of you for replying, everyone in this group is so supportive of each other. It was a private scan and I'm hoping their equipment was rubbish and they have got it wrong. I'll keep you all updated but I hope someone is watching down on us and that our little one is doing fine. Your words have lifted my spirits just when I need it.

E2017 · 27/01/2018 11:12

@Subo2018 no experience of this but I'm thinking about you. Xx

peterpanwendy · 27/01/2018 11:19

@E2017 I feel like this constantly. My scan is on Tuesday and I am fearing the worst. I don't know what I'm meant to feel like at 9+3 (in my belly, still nothing?) I'm still so ill but apparently that doesn't mean anything according to google. I'm shitting it I'm so scared. I just want everything to be ok in there!

@Subo2018 I have no experience either I am sorry but I was measuring much smaller than my LMP at a private scan and she said it was nothing to worry about just that I ovulated later. Could this be the case for you? Your bub might just be tall! X

amzq87 · 27/01/2018 11:50

@Subo2018 @peterpanwendy I was petrified going in to my scan yesterday. I'm just one of nature's worriers and sometimes I think I do it as a self-preservation mode, preparing for the worst so I'm not caught off guard.

As it turned out for me, everything was fine and all the worrying was for nothing. I know it isn't in all cases but what will be, will be and there is nothing you can do about it. All any of us can do is our best. I can tell you lots of tears were shed when I got home.

Just try and relax and I wish you both amazing scans xx

amzq87 · 27/01/2018 11:55

Sorry meant to tag @E2017 in my last post, silly phone. @Subo2018 I really hope everything turns out well for you - not something I have experience with but I'll be thinking of you xx

milney25 · 27/01/2018 13:01

@Subo2018 I can't imagine what you are going through, it must be so tough facing such uncertainty. Will be thinking of you and praying for the best outcome xx

SpriteGirl · 27/01/2018 18:59

@Subo2018 this must be so stressful for you I can't imagine. Hoping for the best outcome for you Flowers

RainbowsAndUnicorns23 · 27/01/2018 19:27

@stephiewoo when is your booking appt?
Your relationship with your older two sounds lovely, how old were u when u had them? I was 19 when i had my first.
I really like your idea with eater egg!

@subo sorry to hear this, I haven't any experience with this im afraid! Fingers crossed for you.

So i went back to OOH today, still trace of UTI so bern given 7 days of antibiotics, should of been given these first not just a 3 day! He said my back pain isnt due to UTI tho as isnt in kidney area its more likelt ligaments!

I am gonna call my MW Monday tho as im a bit worried my crampy/lower abdo pains aren't related to UTI either, and i forgot to mention this at OOH, it was so hot i needed to get out! Anyone else had/have this? Its like at each side of lower abdomen! Google says its round ligament pain.. but just want to be sure.

amzq87 · 27/01/2018 19:43

Hi @RainbowsAndUnicorns23 - I had this just before Christmas when I was around 7 weeks. It worries me as my first thought was ectopic. Does it come and go? X

Stephiewoo · 27/01/2018 20:01

@RainbowsAndUnicorns23
I was 18 with my dd and 20 with my ds, both are amazing they really are, and this may sound smug but I have done an amazing job bringing them up on my own.
That's why this is strange for me, having a partner and a baby on the way, I've done it 3 times on my own.

Hope everyone is having a chilled stress anxiety free weekend 😊

BertieBotts · 27/01/2018 20:36

Stephie I know what you mean, I was 20 when DS was born and my ex did nothing so I pretty much coped alone. It's strange thinking about how involved DH is and how much he wants to do but I'm looking forward to finding out even though I'm nervous as well!

No lack of stress here as we're moving which is just horrible! I really think the new place will be worth it though :)
