I’m late to update as I am a bit battered after the birth. My baby girl was born on 28th December weighing 6lbs 7oz.

I’m only posting limited details as my family belong on the ‘stately homes’ thread and I am worried they may identify me (as they stalk me on social media). I will probably name change and then pop up on the ante-natal thread if there is one?

Hurrah for new thread, I just popped into the old one and discovered it was full! Congratulations @Usernamegone and everyone else who's little ones are now here! I'm 38+4 and still waiting not so patiently. Getting a bit of tightening and the occasional mild period pain like cramp, so I think the band is warming up for the performance but we're not at the main act yet, if that makes sense? Could still be a few days I think.

Thanks for the new thread. I was hoping that I wouldn't still be pregnant by the time a new thread was needed 40+4 and thoroughly fed up and pissed off!

@EekThreek to be honest I'm getting a bit stressed about it all. I've used an independent midwife for both pregnancies by things were a lot easier in 2013. So this time for piece of mind I also used the NHS home birth team.

From day one I've been very honest with the NHS midwife team that I also had the independent planned so they've sort of stepped back a bit over the last few weeks expecting to hear from me when the baby arrives.

Neither the NHS or independent midwife thought I'd go over! Anyway I should have a consultant appointment in the diary which is being chased up, but before Christmas I made a fuss about not wanting to be induced early or tested for Gestational Diabetes at 37 weeks as it was all a bit pointless by that point... so I feel a bit in limbo now if I'm honest!

It's weird - there has clearly been no thought to how independent midwives should operate on the last few years as changes have been made in the NHS that make it all very hard - for example GPs used to come out to your home to do the new baby check but now they don't (as they don't get paid) but the NHS hospital team won't come out either as you haven't had the baby them?!?! health visitors don't have the red books anymore so again your NHS midwife is meant to give it to you, but I bet I find they won't if I haven't had the baby there!!

just got back from a day out - I guess it was cinema for us both with DP last time before EDD :) Baby girl was wild in the tummy - she was reacting so much to the sounds. Good we decided to Not choose action movie, lol :)

That's weird Purple, and so frustrating to not know what's happening! Are you going to chase them tomorrow, or hope for the best?

Must admit, I don't know how the whole independent mw thing works - I've never looked into it, but I don't think it's very common round here (I don't know anyone who has used one).

I'd forgotten the red book had swapped from HV to hospital! The GP don't do a home visit here either, but the HVs have started doing an intro visit at about 28 weeks so that the first time they meet you isn't with a 10 day old!

Eek I think for baby 2 you don't get an HV visit before birth, but I also wonder if MW will tell them.

I've sent her a text asking for a call tomorrow to go through everything as at the moment she's worried me by telling me too much about the challenges!

Will also call NHS one tomorrow and see if she's free for a visit!

39w+1 today :) excited and anxious :) Today is one of the good days. just wanting to share the joy!!

Anyone else happy to stay pregnant for awhile longer?
I'm due in 11 days and don't want baby to make an appearance before then
We've work going on at home this week so definitely don't want baby to arrive in middle of that
I also don't think I'm ready to face the fact that after all the count downs, pregnancy classes, body changes and limitations, I'm actually going to have a baby in a couple of weeks!!!

Plus I still have a rotten cough/cold that is really taking it out of me!

Im 36&4 Due 31st Jan dc no.2 team blue!
Symptom spotting like a crazy lady!
Lost plug at 36 wks, no blood, just big glob of jelly. The odd proper cx, but mostly just very frequent strong bh. Lots of fanny daggers -oh the joy- , exhaustion, emotioal, spd becoming increasingly worse.

Really hoping this wee man comes around the 37wk mark, but doubt it!

Dc1 was slow labor, 3-4cm when they broke my waters, pitocin, 2+hrs pushing, failed forceps and emergency c section REALLY hoping for a vbac this time. Not really over the 'loss' of my wishes of a natural birth for dc1, you kinda mourn the loss of that 'special' moment, baby put on chest/sense of accomplishment. Felt robbed...NEED that moment this time, so will be avoiding induction at all costs, should have trusted my body and accepted slow labor last time...too many interventions which resulted in a very traumatising birth.

Phew, sorry for novel, just introducing myself/circumstances etc!

Keep thinking that EVERY little twinge is 'a sign' everyone says baby no.2 comes early, but most women i have spoken to have disproved this theory. Been doing my raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, bouncing on ball, burning clary sage oil, eating dates So doing all i can to hopefully have a quicker easier labor! Had 6 sweeps with dc.1 which did nothing, so wont be bothering this time...well, i will consider one if i get close to being overdue, as im trying for a vbac i can only be allowed to go over by 1wk before having to be induced! And imo pitocin is pure evil! Especially with an ineffective epidural!!!

40 weeks today!! Been getting irregular tightenings over the last 24 hours so stuff is definitely on the move. Hoping labour will hold off till later as dc1 has a dance trial tonight & we have a builder due round this evening to discuss our loft conversion!!!

I'm trying to decide whether to see the Dr about my back/rib pain today. It's getting worse and it's been hard to get around but I'm not sure they can do much at this point. On the other hand I could get piles treatment at the same time so...
Also had a little gush of fluid as I stood up this morning. Have had it before so I know rationally it can't be anything other than discharge or wee but it's made me a bit paranoid. Argh I hate anxiety and mines worse as the dd approaches!

37+4 due to have a DS on the 25th!
No symptoms as of yet!

Growth scan this afternoon as he is tracking v big! Let's wait and see what the scan says! X

Good luck cheshiremama -my baby was estimated 7.9 when I was 36+4 and I'm now 39+3 . They don't seem worried but I can't help but wonder how big this baby will be if I do go over. May be different as it's not my first though and I know sometimes they then test for gestational diabetes if babies are very big.

@EekThreek - re names - we have several but we are deciding when we see her :) So far I don't have any 100%. Somehow I think we will go for a double name :)

@ForumUsername - I am happy to be pregnant for a wee bit longer despite PGP and other stuff. I have just started my maternity - need to catch up with reading about babies, at the classes I just grabbed info but never read it! ... and I would love just to catch up with sleep!
