Fingers crossed for you octo

I was awake at 3 this morning and nearly came on mn but decided to straighten my hair instead incase I had to go hospital as I went to bad with it wet last night! Was really achey in back and tummy and it felt like it could bethe start of something although any contractions were really short and weak. When I went back to bed about half4 back ache had gone but hips and legs were agony. Luckily ds is back at playschool today and dd is old enough to let me doze for an hour or so before he finishes at 12. Still feeling abit twingy, dont think anythings gonna happen just yet but seems like the start of something. DPs really hoping it is as he's been doing lots of overtime lately and wants the time off work!

Im off for a kip now, will be back later and will try and not be quite so self obsessed in my post then!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/04/2007 10:03

Hiya ladies.

Emmymummy, I wondered whether you had popped yesterday having had some symptoms and then not being on mn yesterday evening! Oh how we speculate!

Sorry Em is being difficult for you atm. It is soooo hard to stay calm isn't it. Hang on in there.

Nellyhel, hope lo comes soon for you.

Feel really light headed today, and also incredibly heavy low down. Have got so many jobs I need to get on with but haven't the energy!

Time for a double chocolate mocha I think - see if that stirs me in to action.

See you all later. xx

Going to be another quiet day on here today, I see... Just burst into tears on the phone to dh - my hormones have gone into OVERDRIVE lately!! I´ve only cried a handful of times in this whole pregnancy (I´m not a big crier TBH) and most of them seem to have been in the last couple of weeks..

Mum had said we would go into town today to run some errands and I was really looking forward to it. Then she called and said she can´t be arsed going. Dh has our car so I´m now effectively stranded and the thought of doing more housework is just too much for me. I feel so frustrated. Dh hates me using the car lately so I´ve been going along with that but I just feel totally like I can´t do anything without someone taking me when they feel like it. After my fit of tears I told him I am taking the car to town after lunch and that´s that. He seemed to think it a good idea to agree with me

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/04/2007 10:22

Hi Maveta, I am sorry you are feeling emotional.

I know what you mean. I have been pretty grounded all thru this pregnancy - and dh agreed with me that I had been very rational etc. but last week and this week, I have felt really quite weepy.

I am finding people being kind to me makes it worse!

Is anyone else still "with child" finding heir tummy button really sensitive? I cannot bear anything touching it - even clothes!

glitterkitty · 16/04/2007 10:24

Congrats to all the Friday 13th babies ladies! I still have 12 days to go, booked in for a sweep day before my due date on the 26th (wasnt asked if I wanted this- they just told me to come in for it...I presume its just what they do now? My mum had never heard of it...)

maveta, know how you feel- I get really irritated when I cry and then suddenly DP agrees to whatever it is Im upset about- like hes arguing with me just for the sake of it

Glad you got the car tho!

Emmymummy · 16/04/2007 10:26

SOSPL - know what you mean about feeling heavy, I get that sometimes, then it seems to disappear. Can only put it down to the LO's head engaging and un-engaging itself. I don't think this one's going to engage properly until I go into labour to be honest. My energy levels are wierd too - sometimes I could rush about doing loads of things, othertimes I really struggle just to get showered and dressed.

And Maveta - I think the tears are completely normal at this stage! You've got one hell of a lifestyle change on the way (well it's already started in that you can't get on with things you want to do, people treat you differently already, self-esteem, tiredness, anticipation and all that) so you're bound to feel all over the place. Just try to make the most of having nothing to do, really, as you'll be looking back at this time in a couple of weeks and wishing you'd put your feet up more!

Emmymummy · 16/04/2007 10:28

Glitterkitty - that does seem strange. They won't offer a sweep here until you're at least 7 days over.

glitterkitty · 16/04/2007 10:30

As a first timer can I ask a q about contractions- they have to be painful to be labour ones, right?

Because last night I had an hour of them coming every 5 mins- not painful but strong. Then I fell asleep . Should I have got up and walked about of something?

BigEggLittleEgg · 16/04/2007 10:38

Glitterkitty, when I had DS last year I had contractions that I really didn't think were too bad, although they were every two mins but quite bearable, and when I phoned hospital midwife told me to call back in an hour as I clearly was not in labour as sounded fine during each contraction. DS was born less than three hours later... However they really did pick up about an hour before he was actually born and I knew I was in full on labour as we drove to hospital (hence I screamed throughout the 20 min journey).

Good luck for the impending labour! Hope it goes really smoothly.

maveta · 16/04/2007 10:42

Thanks girls - it´s so nice to come on here and be understood! SOSPL - actually I LOVE touching my belly button! LOL. I always have, I love how soft and smooth it is and even more so now.. I have always been surprised how many people find their belly button ´icky´ to touch.. but obviously I am the more freaky one by far It freaks dh out even to just see me touching mine! LOL

Glitterkitty - that sounds weird about the sweep.. here at intervention central I am still only booked in for an appt on 3rd May which is 8 days after my due date and I presume it is just to discuss the next plan of action. Also, you´ve only got 10 more days girl..not 12!! (mind you if you are of the ´happy to wait, in no rush for baby to come´ gang then of course, 12 days sounds fine ).. I´m due on the 25th and in my mind only have 8 days left (today doesn´t count, of course! ). I think the idea re. contractions is if you can get back to sleep, do so, try not to pay attention to anything that doesn´t demand your attention.. I had the most excruciating KNUFs last night.. and quite a few of them. Poor dh looked terrified every time I gasped LOL

Emmymummy - thanks to you too sweetheart for your lovely words.. I know, I KNOW I should be making the most of it but I am a pretty active person and just feel BORED. And knowing I will regret saying that just doesn´t help

Emmymummy · 16/04/2007 10:43

Glitterkitty - When mine started last time they were more like waves of period aches, coming at regular intervals, with no pain in between. So no, they don't necessarily have to be painful, could be just uncomfortable (at least to start with!).

geordiemacminx · 16/04/2007 10:45

Maveta - sorry you are feling down today - sounds like you should have a day of pampering and doing nice things!!!

Glitterkitty - think my midwife has me booked for a sweep on my due date - obviously just depends on midwife and health authority?

Congrats on all the babies born and due today!!!

I've been having contractions too, but like you said GK, not really painful, just like mild to medium period pain, for about an hour then the stop.. usually at night, I think it was maveta that mentioned that she had looked this up on the internet and its quite common.. AND CAN GO ON FOR WEEKS!!!!

Had a nice weekend up here, a day at the seaside on saturday and loch lomond yesterday.

Nearly lost my temper yesterday...

Woman in shop: oooo how long have you got left?
Me: 2 weeks
WIS: Oh I bet you are really fed up

I was sooooooooooooo tempted to say actually I'm not fed up at all, its a lovely day, I am out in the sunshine with my dp doing lots of nice things, as part of my rather nice life. I would however be VERY fed up if I was stuck working in a crappy shop such as this on such a beautiful day, had a face as ugly as yours and had nothing better to do with my time than harras pregnant ladies....

But I didnt... but I might.. next time

Got up this morning to find the bloody cat asleep in the moses basket...so he's another one thats gonna be feeling the rath of my anger... or left foot if he doesnt start and behave!!!!

CaptainDippy · 16/04/2007 10:52

Ditto to sensitive bellybutton, SOSPL - Makes me yak whenever I touch it or anything (esp pinchy DD's or DH) touches it ...... Bleurgh!!

Maveta - [[hugs] Gosh we ARE an emotional bunch, aren't we!!? What are we going to be like with newborns!!!?

Sieve head - can't remember anything anyone said ..... Enjoy your day to yourself EM ....

It's taken me 45 mins to get DD2 down for sleep - probably cos she slept so well last night and slept in this morning (I hope) - Hoping she stays down for a while now, so I can do stuff ..... Just heard her coughing ..... Eeeeeek! Stay in bed!!

Hi glitterkitty!

Hope all's ok with MIAMT and Octo - More babies ..... yey!!

Have emailed you with my no for updates on MIAMT, maveta!

CaptainDippy · 16/04/2007 10:55

Hello GMM!! I am starting to get annoying by the comments now too - can't people just mind their own bee's wax!!!?

geordiemacminx · 16/04/2007 10:58

I just get sick of the same conversations over and over and over..... "ooooh you must be fed up" cheeky sods!!!!!

Bit bored today - lots of things that I could be doing but nothing really that I want to do... gonna see how things go at the midwife this afternoon, then think about booking some reflexology for the end of the week... I know I should probably wait but I'm fed up with waiting!!!

CaptainDippy · 16/04/2007 11:08

Just enjoy taking it easy GMM - I miss that lazy 1st PG stuff - I know it is frustrating, but enjoy this "waiting time" ....

eca · 16/04/2007 11:10

hi all

am feeling grotty this morning!! The 'have you had it?' calls are driving me mad!!!! My family seem to think i have some control over when it will happen!! AHHHHHH!!! And I keep getting period-like pains, cramps and lower back ache (can hardly walk around), but nothing regular and then they just disappear! And i threw up this morning too. Great!! But no sign of any regular contractions or sustained pain!! huff huff huff ( why am i wishing pain on myself???????????? )

Hope that octo is doing ok. Sounds like it might actually be the real thing! I think the best way to get labour going is to suddenly need to do something/be somewhere else!!

maveta - hope that you have a lovely time in town!

GK - good to see you! I was wondering about you yesterday and how you were getting on!

GMM - I made strawbarry pavlova yesterday. Couldn't resist!

Hi everyone else, CD, SOSPL, Emmymummy, Pesha xxx

weeonion · 16/04/2007 11:23

CONGRATS MIAMT - fab news. that is the first of the week and yep - also love the name robyn. heres hoping phil and james are all excited as well.
thanks maveta fro being our international correspondant!

glitterkitty · 16/04/2007 11:25

Lol thanks bigegg, I wish I have such a quick labour! Ok, so I will according to everyone ?know? when I?m in real labour- that?s good! Don?t really fancy unexpected car delivery if I can avoid it .

Maveta- I actually feel quite content to wait ATM so I?m counting every day- I?m not too uncomfortable, weather in London is gorgeous, my gardens looking lovely plus [sad garden obsessed person emoticon] I?m waiting for huge plant delivery, which I?m hoping will arrive before the baby.

Hi CD, GMM! yeah, sweep must just be luck of the draw depending on where you live- got to say I don?t fancy it at all (hate smears) but have tried curry, gin and tonic, holding a baby etc so far with no result so I guess I?ll have to endure it- better than induction I suppose...

I so wish you had said that to the shop assistant GMM

maveta · 16/04/2007 11:26

Aww thanks girls. It is so nice to know we are all here for each other and know exactly how we feel.. especially when we are so hormonal and it just seems like NO ONE knows how we feel!

I think the nice things I can do for myself this morning extend to cleaning the floors and making soup for lunch (WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!! Careful girls, don´t let me out, the world just AIN´T READY FOR ME!!) LOL. But I will make up for it when I am allowed off my leash this p.m.

Yes, GK, apparently what we are feeling is pre labour and can indeed go on for weeks which is why it´s best to try and ignore any and all signs unless you can´t ignore them..

CD - hope dd2 is still sleeping...GMM - sympathies re. lazy cats.. mine has tried to get in the moses basket a couple of times but has leapt a mile in the air as soon as he seems me so he knows he´s not allowed. cheeky little git. I did read somewhere about half filling loads of tins with stones or coins and putting them in so if they jump in it will make a noise and give them a fright. But that seems like such a lot of effort and knowing my cat, he´d just curl up around them.

I was just gloating the other day that I must have quite wonderful friends and family because no one has asked me if I´ve had it yet. Except MIL who asks dh everytime she calls but at least he gets that call, not me . THEN one of my friend´s boyfriend (totally random much?) called to ask just that. I laughed and laughed and said ´you CAN´T be serious, what did you really call for?´ and he said ´no, just that, I did just call for that´.. I couldn´t believe it! LOL.

glitterkitty · 16/04/2007 11:27

Oooh love the name Robyn, congrats MIAMT! I feel like everyone is popping before me!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/04/2007 11:27

Fantastic news MIAMT. I am absolutely chuffed to bits for you. Hope you are all well.xx

GMM, pmsl at your rant! And my bloody cat used to be found in the moses basket too - fortunately it still had the wrapper on it. The nursery door is now well and truly shut, as he was also found to be sleeping in the cot the cheeky bugger!

Just done some ironing and am bloody knackered! I cannot bear not being able to do such a simple task without the need to have a sit down after 20 minutes!

Eca, fingers crossed for you. Hang on in there.

Right, need to hang out the washing and get more in the machine. It is no stop housework here!

Catch up later. x
