night octo xoox

maveta - yep at the time i was embarassed by her attitude but there has been so much negativity about preg that nothing really shocks me now. i have thought that at times some people are almost disappointed when things work out for women in labour - a horror story seems preferrable to a positive one. also - my mw is a star - so supportive but i have been gobsmacked at the sexist patronising attitudes of others. they seem to forget that i am 35, i can read, i can think and i have a mind. do not talk to me as if i am bloody stupid about wanting certain things in pg and labour!!
ellie - i am glad yu and the other 2 were able to make sure that it went the way you wanted it to!

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:19

it's a bizarre feeling tho, i don't think i'd change anything about Matthew's birth other than being given codeine after. I don't see this one as better, just different.

Weeonion - totally agree with you. I do feel like they talk to you as if you have NO idea about anything half the time, and fair enough they have to assume zero level of knowledge but if you even show the slightest sign of having an informed opinion on something it´s still dismissed as nonsense just because it might not be their personal philosophy. Grrrrrrr...

[breeeeeeathe]

We´ll be fine wo.. and other first timers.. we´ll be fine. Now, repeat after me..

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:23

you will be fine!

because no matter how ypu do it and what difficulties you have to encounter on the way,

you get a baby at the end of it

Fair point Ellie, you probably feel like you should see this as better as everyone is congratulating you on it being so natural and quick and everything but if you felt your first experience was more or less positive anyway it probably seems weird to you. But I think we´d all be congratulating you anyway just because you´ve had a positive experience.. whether that be natural or not, you know? And that´s something to celebrate in my book!

weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:25

ellie - you now have 2 very different expereinces to draw upon - just as joe and matthew will be very different wee boys. maybe the third will be different again???

maveta - we WILL be fine.

i have 4 days to go. i feel great. there has been no show, no leaking waters and some twinges / cramps - nothing major. i am sure i will go over my e.d.d - and kinda hope it as i want to get as much sun as possible and have loads to time to relax. i may be one of the last to go!!

maveta · 14/04/2007 23:26

Yeah, although after reading the postnatal threads.. I´m kind of scared of that at the moment!! [eek]

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:28

not blimmin likely WO, that requires a man for a start

OP posts:
maveta · 14/04/2007 23:29

WO - I´m still a bit behind you.. 10 days to edd.. but yeah, not much sign of an early bird so far.. last week I had a couple of bad sleepless nights with sore contractions but never amounting to anything worth paying attention to.. but I did kind of think ´maybe my body is gearing up´ but since then, nada, nowt, zip. Like I said earlier, it almost seems like I have less braxton hicks since I started taking the RLT! Oh well, I don´t feel in too much of a rush right now anyway so plenty of time, plenty of time

weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:30

i think everyone here has been congratulating others because we all feel an investment of sorts in each other after months of chatting. i really hope that all who have given birth feel that they are special - as everyone's pg has been different and at the end of it all - as you say, there is a baby. no matter how long it took, how many drugs were involved, what interventions were needed, how much pain there was - all the women have done something pretty amazing in giving birth.

EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:33

the funniest thing, matthew was so big i didn't buy any newborn clothes this time, he'd have never fitted in them, but had to go shopping today for tiny baby clothes cos Joe is so much smaller

OP posts:
EllieKthePA · 14/04/2007 23:33

oh, and matthew had told all the others at football today that he had a new baby sister

maveta · 14/04/2007 23:36

Ellie LOL at Matthew!

WO - yes, that´s what I was trying to say, you´ve put it much better. But it is late and I am tired..brain not functioning good

weeonion · 14/04/2007 23:38

Hello everyone,
Eddas, thanks for letting me know about the RLTs - I'm with you maveta with the 900mg ones twice a day, but wondering whether I should up the dose, maybe on Monday as it'll be a week before my due date, as I've heard a lot of different strengths / dosages mentioned.
weeonion, your class tutor sounds awful. Which AN classes are you going to? I've been to the NHS ones, and have to say they were really good, whether they just fitted in with how I want my birth to go I suppose, maybe other people were sat there thinking how awful they were. I was impressed though, as I know the NHS ones aren't particularly well thought of.
Right, off to read Ellie's birth story.

Katy44 · 15/04/2007 07:32

Morning LuceWheel, good luck with the packing xx

Morning! Just posting while DD's are bouncing round thier bedroom laughing and DH is still sleeping - hate to think what devestation they have caused in their room in the last hour!! Nice for them to be occupying themselves for a change though .....

I had some almighty pains in my abdomen last night and really bad heartburn; but apart from that was an ok night's sleep, I guess.

All v.interesting dicussions going on here - Haven't taken any RLT or anything yet. Planning on having the injection to speed up 3rd stage. Had it with both girls and was fine - cannot bear the thought of "delivering" something else after pushing a baby out of "there" tbh - Don't mind if it comes out naturally while I am waiting for cord to stop pulsating though .... very easy going me, my Birth Plan has about 4 things on it ....

Katy44 · 15/04/2007 08:16

Morning CaptainDippy!
I'm just about to go off and listen to my hypnobirthing CD for the first time!!

Katy44 · 15/04/2007 08:16

Or I could empty the bins and clean the kitchen floor

Katy44 · 15/04/2007 08:17

But I don't think doing the two together would be very effective

muminamassivetummy · 15/04/2007 08:41

Morning Ladies

Congratulations HotlipsMummy!!!

Well...it's my last day of being pregnant....how wierd is it to be able to say that?!

I cannot quite beleive that this time tomorrow I will be in the hospital and being prepped for my section. I am feeling pretty strange. Half of me is dying with excitement and half of me is feeling sick with nerves and worry about the whole "procedure".

Am determined to try and stay calm and relaxed today - had a few snappy moments yesterday as I was getting myself all worried.

Going to go and root out the Arnica tabs from my hospital bag as I need to start taking them today. I'm going to try and eat light today and drink lots of water and not eat after 10pm tonight. Have meds to take then and in the morning too to clear all acid out of stomach and things.

Really feels so wierd KNOWING that the baby is nearly here. Was up at the crack of dawn even before James as could not sleep and am just going to try and enjoy our last day as a family of 3 until my Mum comes to collect him at tea time.

Hope everyone has a smashing day
Enjoy the sunshine - wil pop on later tonight to catch up
