Bugmum · 17/04/2007 11:58

Just popped back to say thanks for all the good wishes after my horrid day; I felt quite emotional, reading the support of all you women I've never met! When you think about the ethos of Mumsnet generally (which I dislike, despite having learned some useful stuff on other threads), our thread does seem really special. Or are all ante-natal threads nice? Sorry, I forgot: no, we're the ones with horribly offensive titles and fairy-wairy dust!

Re induction: isn't it right that French women are given EDDs of 42 weeks, and therefore they have FAR fewer inductions than we do, as most pop on or before their due dates as a consequence? I think that's right.

Off to eat crumpets with far too much butter on. I can't stuff my face in quantity terms at the mo', but I am making up for it in white carbs!

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 11:59

Mmmmmm, I've got a rumbly in my tumbly ..... lunch time, me thinks .... then off out to work ..... ever hopeful my boss might leave the laptop today .....

"See" you lovely ladies later .......

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 12:01

Ooooh, Bugmum - pleeeeease send me some of your delicious butter-infested crumpets .... yummy! We've hardly any food in our cupboards atm.

Yes, that is right about French EDD's bing 42 weeks and they have A LOT less inductions .....

Don't get me started .....

Bugmum · 17/04/2007 12:02

CD - Sending some through cyber space now!

zazas · 17/04/2007 12:38

Hi Bugmum - sounds pretty normal behaviour from your two year old and you I just think at the end of pregnancy you just don't have the mental space to deal with much and so everything become magnified. My DD and DS are lovely but the smallest thing they do can get me wound up - unfair on them - which I tell them in moments of more rational. Don't worry about coping with two - you just do somehow At 39 I wonder about my energy with having a newborn again - I love my sleep but with hindsight I know I WILL get to sleep again one day!

Katy44 - my buddy is Yevie but she hasn't been on much since she had her little on 2 weeks ago. I guess I can still text her??

Bummer Eca about your sweep - have to admit I was suprised mine actually happened. But no doubt I will still be here on Thursday and off for another one - honestly have given up expecting anything. MW said the baby still had plenty of room to move around so I don't think she is in a rush to go anywhere.

I also have had the induction talk - I can go up to 14 days overdue as they are reluctant to induce to previous csection - depending on the consultant if I haven't had it they might want me to consider another CS because of the risk of rupture - so that is pretty much as far removed from the homebirth I have planned now I find it interesting that it will depend on which consultant I have - you would think that it would be my own circumstances that decides things not their preferred way of doing things?

nellyhel · 17/04/2007 12:41

Eca & Isabelly - re. refusing induction etc, I am only so willing this time round because of dd and ds I think. It is DD's birthday on 29th, and I am hugely emotional about any chance of missing it! That's why I'm happy with a date only 11 days over. I am worried though about how different it could be to my other two "normal" and relatively quick labours. So here's hoping it happens for us all before then... lots of bedroom action for us tonight then!!!

Pesha · 17/04/2007 12:52

CONGRATULATIONS LIATH

Although also very

Still very achey but no proper contractions anymore. Went to tesco earlier and was in lots of pain but not quite the right pain. Yesterday was exactly like early ds labour, very ticked off its all stopped now. Curry tonight and 'bedroom activities' here too, whether dp likes it or not!! At least he's off work now cos cant really keep going back then taking time off cos it messes up their cover. But makes me wanna have baby soon even more now. Nice to have his help though. Off back to bed for abit now I think while I can, dp and ds are curled up together on the sofa watching curious george

Sorry its such a selfish post again, only really skimmed through for baby news!

elkiedee · 17/04/2007 13:32

Ugh, just ventured upstairs to discover one of our two cats has been sick on the bed, and it's gone through and stained the duvet as well as being all over the recently changed cover. I suppose she's getting me in practice for baby! (I'm an ageing first timer).

Luci

mammyjo · 17/04/2007 13:41

My dd did the exact same thing on Sunday morning Luci. Dont think it would be quite as bad to clean baby sick as cat sick though!!

Congrats to Octo and Liath!! Wonderful news xxx

Bugmum, I was really scared about coping with two dc's too and actually got myself quite worked up about it. I was rambling on about the school run on here yesterday and my happiness that I actually managed to do it! I think everyone has the same concerns and ultimately you will cope. Yes it will be tough going at times but you will get through it (as I am discovering at the moment). Its actually good to come on here and realise that other people are going through the exact same experience as you as sometimes I think it feels like no-one else in the world knows what it can be like!!

Labour vibes to all those who want them. Cant quite believe that my dd will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. My life is just passing me by!!

Love to all xxxx

EllieKthePA · 17/04/2007 13:49

Ha! Have gone beyond KNUFs. Have now progressed to bending over double and clinging onto the kitchen table whilst breathing loudly. So there.

CaptainDippy · 17/04/2007 14:37

Mmmmmm, good point .....
