Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 17:27

I will quite happily start one for everyone, but only if we get votes "for" it.

If we wait until everyone has given birth that in theory could be the middle of May, surely those early mums won't want to be posting on here, the ante-natal thread until then????

ANYWAY VOTES PLEASE?

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 17:28

REALLY must get tea sorted now x

oooggs · 03/04/2007 17:29

Hi 1B3 hun - hard isn't it. Jack was awake all of last night and I'm knackered

I can relate to the cow bit I am doing formula bottles around 11pm and the next time they wake and then breastfeeding the rest of the time. I am finding it hard with ds and he is a bit older than your dd and I haven't got the physical restriction (C section) that you have.

Dooby - congrats matey - ds was 36+3 and weighed 7lb 14oz. I just produce huge babies (must be the chocolate )

Come on Eddas - wheres that baby???

SOSPL - feeling ok but very emotional and just cry for no apparent reason

will catch up with some more personals later stereo crying has just kicked off

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 17:29

personally i'd rather stay posting on here even after i have the baby, as i'd rather that than try to be on 2 diff threads or lose touch with those still pg.

i think maybe you should email the ladies who've had babies to ask them as they are most affected by it?

Pesha · 03/04/2007 17:34

I think it was mentioned before and was felt it would be nice for WCL to start it as she had the first baby but then hasn't been mentioned since. I sort of just assumed it would be started by a post natal mummy when they wanted to!! But have no real opinions either way at present being still antenatal myself im happy to read about babies on here or swap to post natal to read about them.

Drs was a waste of time - cant really tell anything cos bump is in the way, cant really do anything, doesnt know what it could be, is prob preg related as started in last pg (despite carrying on for 3 years in between ), if it gets really bad go back.

Eddas · 03/04/2007 17:35

still waiting for it to appear

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 17:45

labour dust coming your way...

maveta · 03/04/2007 17:58

Hi 1B3 and Oooggs, lovely to see you both on here.. sounds like you are both very very busy indeed.

Pinions - I'm not bothered re. a postnatal thread, I do kind of like the idea of all staying on one thread while there's a significant minority on either side of the labour divide! So maybe once more have given birth and there's less of us waiting, it would make sense to shift over but kind of at the same time? But either way, if there is a postnatal created I'll keep up with it as much as this one so whatever everyone else wants really.

Pesha · 03/04/2007 18:04

Hi 1b3 and oogs, didnt mean to ignore you both before but brain is a sieve today! Sounds like you're both doing brilliantly

Oo Im in a spending frenzy today Have just reserved from argos bratz scooter as dds easter present, bratz skateboarding remote control doll as present from baby and thomas roller skates as ds' easter present, all in the sale Ds did ask for cars ones but with postage would be about £10 more and just too tired to drive all the way to bath and actually when he saw thomas skates in argos catalogue he seemed quite excited about them too so should be fine. Will have to be!!

So now i just need to buy another changing mat for upstairs, a changing bag and a couple of floaty tops for me for breast feeding and flabby tummy covering!

Can anyone recommend a good rucksack changing bag, dp doesnt like my current one and it is over 6 years old! I would go for the caboodle one but my sister had it and it broke after just over a year so thats put me off. Dont want to spend a fortune but do want quite a nice looking one and has to be blokey enough!

weeonion · 03/04/2007 18:05

good afternoon folks. i am a bit unsure about dividing us as yet but again - i think the new mums need to decide what is best for them.

I dont get any home visits here - it is always to the hospital waiting room. i actually dont mind it - bring along a book and it is fab people watching time tho' in glasgow you do get a "colourful" antental clinic with families arriving en masse to kick off in the waiting room. mentionned hoem visits to mw who laughed hysterically and when she had finished, said not a chance.

it'll all be ok when we get the choice in 2 yrs for a home birth - aye right [hmm}

Pesha · 03/04/2007 18:06

Oh bum is it 6o'clock already! Really should feed the kidsthen I guess They're so happy playing in the garden I kinda forgot

IsabellyMoi · 03/04/2007 18:30

1B3 and Oogs - I want to chime in with everyone else and say it is great to see you both on here and read a little about your wonderful DTs. Sounds like you are doing an excellent job. Can only imagine how tiring it must be at times!

Agree with the comments about the post-natal thread - I'm very happy either way so I guess whatever the new mummies want.

Question: several have mentioned flowy tops that work well for BF. I'd love to hear any and all recommendations. I'm not really a born shopper and tend to dither a lot and being relatively new to the UK, I'm not as familiar with all the shops so could really use any leads/tips/advice. Thanks!

Runny I think we were talking about membrane sweeps. After my MW told me it was NICE guidelines to offer it at 39 weeks, I did even more research and spoke to a very nice MW at the birth centre at Queen Charlotte's. Turns out my MW was a bit wrong. It is offered at 39 weeks in some cases but I'm going to decline it at my 39 wk appt tomorrow. Maybe I'll have it at 40 weeks if nothing has happened. I read every study I could locate on it and there are varying opinions but I'd rather let nature take it's course (my main concern is doing what I can to avoid a 'full' induction at 41.5-42 wks with the drip and everything). Anyway, sorry that the previous info. I posted was incorrect...makes me question my midwife a little and how up-to-date she is with research

runnyhabbit · 03/04/2007 18:50

Isabelly - I asked my mw about sweeps at my appt last week. They offer it 5 days after due date. But thats not set in stone iyswim, and depends on the individual. I know exactly what you mean about nature taking its course. Ds was induced, and it wasn't the best birth experience in the world. But then again, I suppose I've got nothing to compare it to

oooggs · 03/04/2007 19:09

I would rather we all stayed together and just chatted both pre & post birth and started a new topic when last babe is born. Otherwise those who birth last could lose support.

From someone who struggles to keep up with one thread, shower, get dressed etc

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 19:09

Bleurgh - head has been soooo mush today - sooo frustrating - just can't concentrate / retain any info ......

Soooo good to see 1B3 and ooogs posting - Hi guys!! You sound like you are doing sooo well - proud of you! [hugs] and kisses to gorgeous wee bubbas....

DH making quick dinner (though feeling sick) and then off to birthing centre for Antenatal check ..... DD1 has v.high temp and has been sleeping in her bed since we got her home from nursery about half 5. Very loathe to leave her, but in my experience, she is v.unlikely to wake up and MIL is coming round to babysit. What do you guys think I should do?? We'll prob be gone about 2 hrs. Poor wee mite - sooo don't need poorly children right now (sorry, v.selfish, I know .... ) but you know what I mean!!!?

Head is all over the place. Bump is so hard - sure it is not going to be long for me now .......

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 19:11

Agree with oooggs that we should stick together here til all the bubbas are born - Think that is what most threads do....

octo · 03/04/2007 19:21

Wow have you lot been busy today!

Hello ooggs and 1B3

Off for nose on other threads then its crap tv night with a jacket potato and time with dh Dh has just said he can work from home all next week which is a huge relief as the boys will be off too.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 03/04/2007 19:47

Hi Ooogs!

CD, sorry to hear you are feeling pants and that dd1 has a high temp. Have you dosed her up with Calpol or anything? Hope she is ok soon - not what you need just now.

Hi Octo, Holby is on tonight or are you not a fan?

I would be happy to have just the one thread, as keeping up with one is hard enough!

Everything aches tonight, and the baby is moving like a mad thing. Getting v peed off with it now.

Becky was quitee open and honest this evening. She said she didn't like my baby and that she wasn't going to be its best friend! . I think she felt bad after though as she has given me loads of kisses and cuddles and has just come back downstairs for another.

Oh dear, I hope all is going to be ok.

Right, need to eat, so will be back later on.

Hope everyone is ok. x

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 19:52

CAN YOU TELL I REALLY WANT TO "NOT" BE PREGNANT ANYMORE LOL

Ok will go with the flow but will be interesting to follow the post natal once someone does start one.

On a very depressing note I have had a look at some of them and there is very little "chat" on some of them as sometimes only 5-10 messages in a WHOLE day. Aaaaaaaahh nowhere to escape to, I'll have to go back to ebay lol!!! I can understand that once bubbas are born there are more important things to do than spend time chatting on MN but oh what a shame, I feel quite x I did quite like the idea of being on there and then another "name" joins IYSWIM.

Ange has got her section tomorrow (I think).
Nice to see you Ooooggs and 1B3 you both sound glowing.

Next 4 babies due in next 2 days are:

Waspelly
Clarice
Nutty

.......and EDDAS what are you playing at!!!
"Have you had it yet?" Only kidding x

Time to stock up on tesco's online shopping, hopefully the last one for 4 weeks.

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 19:58

so, new thread title required.

still looking for ways to combine-

congratulations for Dooby
good wishes for Ange

and walrus'!!

Pesha · 03/04/2007 20:02

Well you had my suggestion last night Ellie but it obviously wassnt good enough!

SOL - I know its not a nice thing to hear from becky but looking at the positive i think its good she's saying things like that so you can talk to her about it and reassure her rather than her keeping it to herself and continuing to resent the baby

Pesha · 03/04/2007 20:08

Oh spoke to a mw today about me not having an appointment and I told her I didnt mind so she said just make an appointment for when im 40 wks and they will offer me a sweep then. Think Ill probably leave it though (if I make it that far!) until Im significantly late. Id rather just wait and let things happen on their own but if I go far over id rather have sweep than be induced. After watching my sister be induced I really want to try and avoid it! Dont think I need to worry really though, last 2 have been fine.

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 20:12

God its just dawned on me only 2 weeks max left of being pregnant!!!!!

Thinking of taking bottle of champers to hospital.........

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 20:21

i gave cd a bottle of champers in her mothers day swap just so she could take it to hospital

and lucky you, i'm due on the 9th but my overdue appt isn't til 25th so potentially i could have another 3 weeks of being pg

tho actually, typing it, 3 weeks doesn't seem all that long

nellyhel · 03/04/2007 20:22

Hello all, just catching up. Have still the most awful sore throat and cough so sleeping even worse and no energy. (Please can my labour not start for a few more days! Don't think I could cope!) However it is great to see baby pics and hear stories of birth etc, keep me focussed and positive - thanks to the new mums for taking the time for those!

Eddas - hope you are not getting too many phonecalls "just to check if you are still there"...

On the mw chat, we don't get home visits as routine though think they would if you were struggling - Pinionsrus, glad you got it sorted out. I am seeing mw every week since 36 weeks then have consultant appt at hospital at 40 + 3. Hoping not to last until then, but will get a sweep if I do. (Have been told men tend to be more successful at this, bigger hands you know... hope I don't need to find out!)

Ok, my brain has now stopped altogether. think I will have ice lolly then give in and take some paracetamol before bed. Hope we have some more arrivals tomo.
