it's one of those things you wouldn't know unless you'd needed it Katy

Matthew gets very mild excema on his face, and i have very dry skin which has got worse when pg so I had to investigate things to use.

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 14:16

Katy

i bought some disposable cameras for my hospital bag, they're lying on the bed upstairs. wondered why i woke up yesterday to matthew jabbering about needing to take photos, then i saw them last night and it all made sense

he had a camera to take when he went to daddy's and is now obsessed

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 14:17

Trust me - you don't want it. It is like white tar!! Chocolate! Can't BELIEVE I haven't put chocolate ......

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2007 14:32

Have Bugaboo Rep comign in a min - to demo the pram to my Boss and I AGAIN - We're both so hopelessly clueless....

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 14:33

or it's so hopelessly complicated?

Pesha · 03/04/2007 14:35

Have just spent £25 at next and £85 at mothercare Went looking for more cute babygrows and ended up buying monitors aswell in the sale. Found a code on hot uk deals for £7 off though and dps grandparents gave us £50 for monitors so not that bad really Bit of an impulse buy though, havent really shopped around like I normally would. Oops

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 14:38

Totally understandable this late in your pregnancy Pesha!

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 14:40

Wow hensden, you're due in the next few days!! Must remember to keep checking my phone!

hensden · 03/04/2007 14:42

eddas - My mum mentioned she heard somthing on the local radio, don't know what to do as we don't really have much choice in going there when the time comes, do we????

I'm just wondering if we could go to Pembury, it's a long way, worse for you as you're so close to Maidstone and is it any better?

It's just so annoying that you have to consider things like this when we've got enough on our plates.

Pesha · 03/04/2007 14:44

Thank you Not sure dp will see it that way, could have got monitor for £20 I expect but sod it, he's going on a stag do on the 18th and 19th may to torquay thats costing £95 before he's even bought any drinks so he has no right to complain about anything I do, and Im making absolutely sure he realises that

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 14:53

on the subject of hospitals, cazboldy hasn't been on for a while but her local is the James Paget i think, the one in the news because of the deaths there.

PS Could really do with some advice on this one cos am a bit lost now...........

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 15:02

no you must have seen it on the news, it's fairly local to me but was on front page of all the papers at the weekend, 17 deaths because of some virus.

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 15:03

MV supposed to midwife.....am a bit mad right now.

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 15:03

Ellie what do you think on my midwife?

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 15:04

errrrrm, don't know i'm afraid, we have a different system, they work in a team of 8 so i don't have 'one' midwife to call, i have to call the office, and they will come out because there are always 2or3 of them out and about.

Katy44 · 03/04/2007 15:05

What did the PCT say Pinions?

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 15:05

i'd say call the doctor and request a home visit from them. but then, is there a reason you want to see them? cos we don't see midwife after 37/38 weeks here.

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 15:05

So if you asked then would they happily come to see you at home if you were struggling?

charNbump · 03/04/2007 15:05

hello everyone and a big CONGRATULATIONS to all those lucky ducks who've had babies - so jealous - i want mine!!!! Haven't been on since like the 25th march and all of a sudden babies everywhere!!! soooo coool!! Hope everyones well, and thank you for the email updates ellie!

Char n BIG FAT bump!!!!

GirtWaspbElly · 03/04/2007 15:06

Pinions - stinks a bit to me - but our MW team are great (despite seeing one continuaously through this pg only for her to be on holiday for the next 2 weeks - well my dates did change somewhat!)

If you're feeling really dire ring NHS direct - or the local hosp for opinions as to whether you should go in...

hensden · 03/04/2007 15:08

katy I'm keeping my legs crossed for at least the next week, I've still got some decorating to do DS's teacher asked him last week how long 'til mum has the baby he said 8 months NOOOOOOOO how big will I be

eddas I rang the MW liason number and she said as far as she knows the infections have been contained, with no instances in the delivery suit and if there was any risk they would tell you to go somewhere else(Pembury)
But the hospital is advising people not to take young children there

She also said that as long as I looked after my own hygiene I should be ok, Well thanks for that, It's not me I'm worried about can I scrub down the delivery room put on my own clean sheets sterilize all the eqipment, bath the MW and then hop up and give birth Sorry for that but

EllieKthePA · 03/04/2007 15:09

i have been able to call whenever, the even have a pager system, and when i found the appt day difficult as it was one of my days at work, they said they'd visit at home if it was easier. so yes, if i called they'd come out.

Pinionsrus · 03/04/2007 15:10

Katy - the number I was given was for the PLS service or soemthing, but the lady I spoke to said that she worked for Leeds Teaching Hospitals and that I was under the PCT and not them IYKWIM. But she said that she would happily try and help me anyway, so I actually dealt with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals instead. The lady I spoke to, who was the most helpful person I think I have spoken to for over 6 months called the receptionist, and "had a word" and they are sending midwife to see me tomorrow.

I am just angry that I've had to go through all this JUST to get a midwife out. Theres no particualr concern just that I have not had a "check" for around 2 weeks and aren't they supposed to still be monitoring/checking that heads down and ready for birth etc etc.

Bit of a long post!
