I've just finished for ML and think I'm going to get sick of waiting. WOuldn't mind if this LO wanted to arrive, say, just after Easter.
But I don't think I'll be that lucky! I'll probably also regret wishing that free time away on my first sleepless night!!

Sorry for the long rant - don't read any more if you are not in the mood....

AARRGHH! Our house this morning

ds-mummy it's morning
me- hello give me a cuddle. (after a minute - ) Do you want to go and get daddy? He's going out on his bike this morning so will be getting up first, mummy's a bit tired. (this had been discussed last night)
ds- daddy it's morning! (lovely cheery voice, 7:15 so for us more than reasonable)
dh - go and get dd (a tired nearly-6 year old who should be left to sleep)
ds - she's not waken yet
dh - are you sure, try again
ds - no daddy. Can you come downstairs?
dh - in a minute...

The last four get repeated loudly for at least 10 minutes until dd gets up. After about 5 minutes chatting, dd comes in to see me and then I get up to come downstairs as I am totally wide awake (they can come down by themselves if they want anyway).

dh still not up - but awake. And thinks he is going out no doubt for two hours, plus time to clean bike etc after. I'll be left with all the breakfast/tidying/dressing routine that I do every other day. I don't really mind the bike thing, expect him to go out most weekends, it is good for him. But he has to get other stuff done to and think about us and giving me a break too!

Am I unreasonable?? to get so with this? Why can't he make some effort to keep ds quieter (he is able to be at 3.5)? Dh didn't even ask how i slept (in the mess that is supposed to be the baby's room for the past couple of nights). Which wasn't well - obviously!!!
I also have some things needing done today - like from the loft and moving stuff, that I just can't manage myself. DH is taking dd to a show this afternoon that she won tickets to so won't be around then.

Don't think I am explaining myself very well. Think I will get a cup of coffee and try to cheer up. Enough to say I am dreading the nights where I have just got me and baby back to sleep at say 5 or 6 a.m. after a feed only for us to be wakened up because dh makes no effort to let us sleep... honestly the kids have more concern than him.

nellyhel · 31/03/2007 08:48

Feel a bit bad for posting that already...

Katy44 - my coffee is black too and hopefully about to work wonders!! I have used TENS the past twice and thought it great. Started rlt on thursday, but no effect yet that I can notice.

I really missed going to the cinema after first dc, maybe something like would fill in some time? I remember it is hard though. Watching dvd's with no interruptions? Get some good trashy books? Or just go for posting on mumsnet all day long? Am envious of your peace and quiet this morning, really!

Nelly, i'd be too. Tell him you're p*ed off, i would

Emmymummy · 31/03/2007 09:00

Poor you Nelly, and grrr to dh. Can you make sure you get a lie-in tomorrow?

I'm quite lucky as although dh has gone to work today (left at about 7am I think), Em goes downstairs with him and gets breakfast and sits & watches TV, colours or entertains herself generally and leaves me to sleep in peace and quiet. It's funny though, as on mornings when DH & I are still in bed together she will wander in at any old time and attept to wake us up by singing or coughing subtly! We just pertend to still be asleep and normally she leaves us to it.

Am shattered today though. Everything is now an effort and have a headache. Will get some coffee too now in an effort to jolt myself awake.

maveta · 31/03/2007 09:02

Morning! Sorry you had a yucky start Nel, hope it gets better..hopefully the coffee will help. Our friends also do the sat - lie in for one and sun - lie in for other routine and it seems to work really well. Dh works on sat. but doesn´t leave til 9.30 so I guess he´ll do saturdays and I´ll do sundays. Hopefully will keep the peace guess we´ll see...

Loved the thread about the piercings.. I´m not into it but here in Spain it is very common and I would have had a right time constantly explaining to family why we didn´t do it. Lucky it´s a boy!

Nutty - babe if the wedding is going to leave you out of pocket, don´t go! Having a 3 month old is the most perfect excuse you´ll ever have. That camping suggestion sounds great in general but you´d have to be so brave to try it with a wee baby.. but I´m not a happy camper (har. har.)

maveta · 31/03/2007 09:04

Have any other first timers (or others, for that matter) started to get apprehensive about the birth? I wouldn´t go so far as to say I´m scared but I´ve definitely not given it much thought in the last few months and now it´s (obviously) slipping into my thoughts more often.... The overwhelming emotion is obviously excitement and impatience to have my baby here but the means by which we have to do it...eeek.

Eddas · 31/03/2007 09:06

My tactic on the birth is to think as little as possible about it. No point worrying as you can't stop it happening, this baby will come out. I am not looking forward to it, IMO it's not nice but it does have to come out!!!

Eddas · 31/03/2007 09:07

OH and Katy thanks for tipping me to be today, i wish

liath · 31/03/2007 09:07

Had another crap night's sleep so sympathies Nellyhel. I've been getting up with dd most mornings too, although to be fair to DH it's usually because I'm already awake anyway.

However, lots to be happy about today.

I'm an Auntie again - my sister had a little girl at 2am. A bit of a long haul as the induction started yesterday morning but she did so well, used TENs and entonox and had a wee hand at the very end with a ventouse. No name or weight yet. So just me left pregnant out of the three sisters, hope this one decides to hurry up and join his cousins!!

The sun is trying to come out, the forcast is good and we're planning to meet some friends today.

Missed all the action yesterday (last day at work -hooray) but adding my congratulations to Ooggs and OMG you deserve a medal lugging all that weight of baby around.

LMAO at your Am I being Unreasonable thread, Nutty - classic mumsnet. Loved this quote from Expat:

"No dancing? No heels or hats. What are they going to do, stand around singing Kumbaya?

Fuck that."

It'd be worth going just for a laugh but I appreciate having a 3 month old complicates it a bit.

CaptainDippy · 31/03/2007 09:16

Morning! OK, so I didn't get back on after Book Group last night - despite poor abandoned Ellie's texts!! Hello!

Welcome!! - to Lucewheel! Nice to have you with us for the final part of this mad adventure .....

SOSPL - I am Have a super, super time while DH is away with DD - How blissfully lovely - I could really do with some t/o atm, but doesn't look likely. Sigh. Oh well .....

DH and friend are finishing off the driveway this morning, so I am catching up on here while DD's play downstairs .... so can't be long cos they are little pickles!! I'm taking DD1 out for a much-needed haircut when DD2 goes down for a nap. Swimming this afternoon. Have one of those Sainsburys take-away bags for DH and I tonight......

Hello Bramshott! Glad you are having a lovely Babymoon!

Great to have you back Ange!!

Ooooh, Autumnlover had her baby!!!!? On March 1st!!!? Gosh - come and post and tell us more someone ......

Anyway, DH just came in and I heard him comment to DD1 "why haven't you got any pants or trousers on" ..... Eeeeek .... Best go and investigate .....

maveta · 31/03/2007 09:20

Hi Cd!

Congrats to you Aunty Liath!

Eddas - no, you´re right and in general that´s been/ is my thinking but I´ve had a couple of twinges in the middle of the night (nothing more than BH but they´ve woken me up) and I´ve felt a little bit panicky, just for a moment. But then it passes and it´s fine.

Emmymummy · 31/03/2007 09:27

Aww Maveta, know how you feel. Although I've been through it before and recall it as being 'bad, but not as bad as I was expecting' I still get the odd moment when I think, bugger, it's getting nearer.... I liken it to taking an exam - you get all apprehensive beforehand and get a bit worked up, when you walk into the exam hall you just think, 'well I'm here now, just gotta see what happens and go with it', and when it's all over you think 'phew, gald that's over and done with, now move on'. There's nothing you can do about it, it's just gonna happen how it happens, and to be honest, the more chilled you are about it, the easier it will be. Honest.

Hi CD - am also taking Em for a haircut this morning. Slight nightmare as she is sooooo precious about her curls, and I've had to tell her she's just having the naughty bits taken off the ends. Wish me luck!

Hello Aunty Liath - congrats to your sis!

muminabigtumi · 31/03/2007 09:56

Hi everyone!

Gosh you have all been busy!!

Ooogs - in total admiration of you - Congratulations on the babies and such gorgeous names - so glad they are here for you.

Congratulations Laith on becoming an Auntie!

Lucewheel - welcome to the group, lovely to meet you x

SOSPL - hope you are enjoying your weekend, James is at grandmas today and I am just debating whether to go back to bed and watch some telly....just cos I can!!! However sun is out and it's glorious and really feel should do something in garden! LMAO at all of you doing things to try and get DH's to do jobs...I do EXACTLY the same! lol

Had a gioggle at the Fug website - never seen that before - have added it to my favourites.

Also laughed at the merry hell caused by the deleted thread title - WHAT ARE YOU LIKE??!!

Hi to everyone, AngeG glad your back in the land of the PC! Nice to hear from you Bugmum and everyone else of course.
Had my leaving do at work last night - was all very nice, was thoroughly clucked over...have added a pic of my "bump mountain" to my profile....will it ever go back???

x

Birdiebump · 31/03/2007 09:58

See! This is what I mean about my * computer!! Couldn't switch it on last night and missed EVERYTHING! And DH was away (under duress - very anxious about me going into labour - as if!!).....

So welcome to Luce Wheel (duh! only get this name now I'm typing it - how slow am I??)

Nellyhel - My DH is EXACTLY the same. We supposedly have an arrangement of me Saturday and him Sunday and when it's my turn I just get on with it so DS2 is happy, I'm happy(ish) and DH is left to have his peaceful lie-in. When it's his turn he keeps moaning and trying to push and push for 5 more minutes and having a go at DS to be quiet etc. the result being that DS always wants ME to get up with him and makes a fuss when it's DH's turn!! Aargh! I just can't win.

Hi to everyone and my money today is on Octo...

muminamassivetummy · 31/03/2007 10:00

thought name change is now very appropriate!

thePA · 31/03/2007 10:21

love it MIAMT

weeonion · 31/03/2007 10:34

morning folks - hello toyu all. lovely mornig here - been up since early with a burst of energy and cleaning.

emmy -loved your commnet about the labour being liek an exam - you dread it and then just get on with it. i had worked myself up into a tizz about it but now am very chilld about the whole thing and in fact - more excited than anything. it has really changed the whole mood in teh flat - even the bloody cat seems more relaxed about life these days!

liath - congrats to yr sis and fingers crossed for teh last of the pg sisters - your mum must be just delighted with babies everywhere! imagine the year they all turn 21!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 31/03/2007 10:58

Morning all.

Congrats Liath to your sister - lovely news!

I have only been up since 9.45! Apologies to those having fights about lie-ins.

Hope everyone is feeling good this morning. Lovely and sunny here today.

Right, better go and get showered and dressed - what a lazy moo I am.

Back later to see how everyone is. xx

maveta · 31/03/2007 11:01

Yeah Emmy, that´s a really good analogy and will have to remember it!

MIAMT - doesn´t Muminamini seem like light years ago?! LOL

My new swaddlebees arrived ....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..it´s so cute. So cute. SO. CUTE. Octo - I know you´re out there.. you MUST get one, they are just adorable.

doghouse · 31/03/2007 11:39

Hi everyone! Phew ... just catching up ... now I know why the last thread 'disappeared'

Welcome Lucewheel - as you can see it is never boring on here!

Am 4 days off due date and getting incredibly impatient. am anxious about the birth but as someone said - it's gonna come out and once it all starts there will be nothing we can do about it anyway so am trying to think positive thoughts!

had irresistible urge to clean cooker whilst still in dressing gown this morning ... surely a sign?

  • hope it is sunny where you all are - have a nice weekend and more babies please (preferably mine)!
nellyhel · 31/03/2007 11:54

Sun is out here too, feeling a bit better than earlier - but still emphasising hurt feelings to dh. Not that it'll make any real difference, just seems to have more impact than yelling at him. Doing that whole "I"ll just struggle on" with washing etc martyr thing .
Also feeling good that I have managed not to take it out on kids and we've had good morning so far!

Agree on the impending birth like an exam. Keep switching from "today please!" to not wanting it to happen. It doesn't really help knowing what it is like, best just remembering that the babys need out and will have to get out somehow, eventually, otherwise we'll burst!! I was so desperate for ds to arrive (only 3 days late) but can remember wishing it to stop as soon as I realised it had actually really started, IYKWIM.

Congrats Aunty liath!

thePA · 31/03/2007 11:56

well, 2 washloads on the line, another one in the machine, making the most of the sunshine!

have been looking at another pushchair on ebay, how bad am i?!
