Fuck! Not such a techo whizz now - try again! Am such a div!

Seansgirl · 01/04/2007 20:15

new baby gift from hotel chocolat

hopefully

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 20:17

that's a good point re the potty seansgirl. I've only had to potty train boys, which I suppose is easier. hmmm.

Sorry to hear you've still got that pesky cough. Last thing you need.

I just typed something really, really rude about Paul Daniels. Something similar to the thread title. But I wouldn't like to offend so I deleted it.

But he is though.

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 20:20

Ok Seansgirl, now you've made me look at that website twice. Its NOT strenghtening my flaky iron will to cancel my membership tomorrow!

God how delicious does it all look .....

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 01/04/2007 20:25

I am watching Nigella with my mum, it always makes me feel better! She is a big girl and all men fancy her, makes me almost feel my fat arse is sexy!

Yes, I agree Marylou, it is everyone else that's annoying, not me being irritable! Can't wait to get home and veg and cuddle with dp!

Alice is 2 in May, so I am starting to get her used to the fact she's not going to be in nappies for the rest of her life! She is a stubborn little madam and won't sit on her potty. She evens stands by it and wees on the floor! I think I'm going to buy her one of those little squishy toilet seats and see if she will sit on the toilet. If all else fails we can spend the summer in the garden and she can wee on the grass!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 01/04/2007 20:27

That choc does look yummy! I just know that the whole box would be gone in an hour if I got them!

bumperlicious · 01/04/2007 20:28

Hmmm, just eaten half a rather large bag of lindt lindor. Feel a little bit sick, but not as much as I should! In fact my tolerance for sugar and junk food had gone rather high since becoming PG. I was a bit of a food control freak before but seem to have lost all resistance!

I think we should do the baby shower thing, how fab will it be to get a little prezzie through the post. So here's the plan, I'll keep bumping the idea for a week or two to get everyone who's interested (i'll email lilkel as she is AWI (absent without internet!) at the moment. So I think the way the May girls did it is they all emailed their contact details to one person, as well as details about their LO (sex etc.) and things they liked and disliked. They set a limit and then the person who co-ordinated matched them up and sent the details to each person. I have set up an email address specifically for mumsnet so I'll get you to email me later in the week if we get enough interest!

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 20:30

my little girl was really good at going to the potty, until I tried getting her out of nappies. She peed on the toilet, but only because she was standing on it so she could see herself in the mirror! And I mean she peed on the lid!

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 20:33

Thats fab Bumper, thanks for doing that.

And when you've got the emails, is anyone interested in talking on msn? I feel a bit uncomfortable laying my life out on here, but would like to be able to tell you guys a bit more. Because you are all my new best friends. And I don't have any RL ones [sob]

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 01/04/2007 20:33

My dd used to go on the potty as well and she used to tell me when she needed a poo! Now she has turned stubborn and won't do either!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 01/04/2007 20:35

msn is a good idea! My email is hollyandalice at hotmail.co.uk if anyone wants to email me. I have no RL friends either, but I think that may be my fault for turning into a social recluse!

Seansgirl · 01/04/2007 20:44

Don't cancel it Foxy, I'd be joining if it weren't for the effing indigestion can't see the point of eating all that yummy choc followed by glugs of gavisgone ergh!

Where's Rita BTW? Have just produced a rice pudding (thought can't be too bad for indigestion right?) that would match any of Rita's efforts. DH most disappointed and complained something like this:

H: I was looking forward to that. Its worse than school dinners.
M: Its not that bad, just mix it up a bit
H: Its cos you've been on that MNs AGAIN
M: Look, I've been a SAHM for four years now, I AM NORMA NOMATES, so IF I twunting well want to speak to my virtual friends then I will.

Mummyjx must be watching JC on TopGear- Hi Mummyjx when you come back! Thingy out of Hotel Babylon is a definately on the list for me - the one out of Cutting it too - the husband not the one she shagged. And of course Sean (swoon!)

Oh fuck, fuck, fuck now I've put too much cold in my bath cos I'm on here! Will have to let some out to get some hot in! Bollocks DH will hear me!

derlor · 01/04/2007 20:46

Hellllllllllooooooooooo. i've had a lovely day today but i'll tell you about that in a mo. 1st just wanted to say that the work/SAH thing is still on my mind - i totally agree that is is about finding the right balance for you. my sister (HIGHLY successful career woman, not like me, a smingy wee nurse) recently had her 1st baby - she earns 4x what her dh earns and so they didn't feel that her dropping 2 days a week (could only get 3 days a week in chosen nursery for dd)was the right thing for them. anyway (i'm rambling now sorry) her and her dh have both dropped a day each and they LOVE it. my bil is the 1st man at his work to ever ask for pt hours but it wasn't a problem. just shows an example of how different things work for different situations.
So my day was lovely - left in bed for a long lie, pottered about with dh both doing a little housework then off to lovely country park with lo's and our friends and their lo's. it was warm (t-shirt weather) and not a cloud in the sky. men ran about with all the kids with footballs and frisbees and my friend and i sat on our arses in a bench and watched then home for an impromptu ?(spelling) with friends and some of our nieghbours. LOVELY dd now in bed knackred and dh and ds happilly playing play station beside me.
only bad thing was i started having braxton hicks contractions today - forgot that feeling
phew that was long anyone still awake???

bumperlicious · 01/04/2007 20:47

I might take you up on that offer when I go on mat leave but at the moment if I went onto MSN I'd never get anything done! I don't do ANY housework as it is and I would never talk to DH! That said I HATE to think that I am missing out on anything! My new mumsnet email is [email protected]. Haven't got MSN messenger on the 'puter yet though. DH doesn't know if it will work as it is a mac?

Seansgirl · 01/04/2007 20:48

Oooohh! Foxy I'm loving the idea of chatting! Like I said I have no mates (sniff!) apart from ones that work (even my baby friends do!) So what do we have to then? Set up an email just for MN? Hi Holly, will email you in a bit re TV slot.

Bumper, thanks for the baby shower just let us know what when who how?

derlor · 01/04/2007 20:51

impromptu BBQ that is

bumperlicious · 01/04/2007 20:51

Hi derlor. Sounds like a fab day! Hope this weather lasts.

What do BH's feel like? Will I know if I'm having one? When do they start?

derlor · 01/04/2007 20:54

oh flip you lot are now having a whole different conversation from me couse it took me so bloody long to write about my days adventures. MSN yes i'd be up for that and BABY SHOWER count me in on that too.

OP posts:
sputnik · 01/04/2007 20:55

Liking the idea of "12 baby-sized fresh truffles". So if I have a 3 kg baby, that's 36 kg of chocolate, right?

I am feeling a lot more positive today about my cervix , posted a question on here and had some reassuring comments, am taking things easy and were going to get a cleaner so every cloud, eh? Anyway, it's not going to help worrying about it, I'll see how things are going after easter when the gynae has another poke about.

Potty training... I tried with DD last summer, she just didn't get it. since then she has refused point blank to go on the potty. I have been wondering whether to tackle it when we get back or leave it til after the baby is here. I think I will take a bribery approach when the time comes, as she responded well to a star chart when I used that for something else. She's fond of a nice chocolate too.

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 20:56

ha ha ha MSN is SUCH a bad idea!! MN is bad enough - now I'll burn the spuds, ignore the kids fighting even more - they'll turn into urchins in rags, begging me to feed them! I'm [email protected]. I've just set this up so I haven't tried it out yet.

Sounds like a lovely day Derlor!

derlor · 01/04/2007 20:57

oops cause sorry
bumper, BH's feel like a jaggy pocker up your fanjo for a few seconds. nice!!!!! so my guess is YES you will know if you experience them

foxybrown · 01/04/2007 21:02

Positive vibes for your cervix Sputnik! Am glad you are feeling better about things. I saw your thread, very positive response. MN doing a good job I think.

I've not had any Braxtons, but feel massive pressure in my lower regions, and its not good for piles. TMI? Soz!

Your DD might go for potty training cos she's going to be 'the big girl' and only babies wear nappies. Not that its worked for me. Yes, I'm going to try a star chart, worked for DS1 too bloody well. Cost me a fortune in Thomas the Tank Engine trains.

derlor · 01/04/2007 21:06

we potty trained dd last year when she was 2 and 2 months. took 3 long weeks and lots of puddles but she responded well to stickers. every time she was successful she got to stick a sticker on her potty/toilet seat - simple, cheap and she loved it.

bumperlicious · 01/04/2007 21:07

Cross your legs and let everyone else run around after you Sputnik! Did they say they might give you a stitch ?

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 01/04/2007 21:08

Rewards for potty training is such a good idea! My dd is a food nut so would respond well to treats. She is very good and her idea of a treat is a cherry tomato or a baby pickled onion! She loves them! Though mini Lindt bunnies do go down well too!

Foxy, just tried to email you and it failed! Mustn't be up and running yet. I'll try again in a bit. Seansgirl please email me re tv! I'm so intrigued! Dd and I may be in Practical Parenting soon, I emailed a journo type in the media requests threads and she wants to use us! Have to send her a pic of me though...mmmm!
