Sorry weasledee such a stressful time. Will they def not offer harmony? Not a lot of place do, but some areas do. I guess the main issue with the cvs is the risk of miscarriage. And the wait to to find out. I got my harmony results within 4 working days. My friend who has recently had a scare due to the nuchal measurement, got the all clear on harmony. Then on another scan it turned out the nuchal measurement was actually fine and it was a measurement error. Is the place for the harmony test going to do a scan also?

maybe you can still go off and return whenever you like (up to the due date for going off and up to a year for returning). Are you in a union? It's always worth giving them a call for clarification. If you're not, it's an excellent time to join one as you are much more likely to need their support during pregnancy and beyond than any other time.

Also, you don't need to ask them, just tell them what you're going to do. The norm would be to write to the chair of governors with a very simple 'I am pregnant and plan to start my maternity leave on x date.'

@weasledee I'm so sad to read your news, you must be anxious and upset. Take all the cuddles you can get from your DC :) there's nothing better!
I don't have any advice to offer but just want to say I'm thinking of you now and over the coming days. Please keep us updated - we are all hear to lend an ear and a hand xx

@weasledee my friend had the same and when she had further tests got the all clear, I know it's scary but no matter what the results it's your baby and nothing changes that, me and my partner said if it came back high risk we wasn't having further tests as it wouldn't change how we would proceed, hope your OK xx

The likelihood is this is just a horrible horrible experience and further testing will show everything is absolutely fine. However, SJ1989 other people might make decisions about continuing a pregnancy after conformation of an issue with baby and those choices would be perfectly valid and right for them. It was just your comment 'it's your baby and nothing changes that' combined with saying you wouldn't have got further testing. I thought it might be a bit unhelpful when you don't know what action someone else would take. Sorry if that's not how you meant it.

Not slept a wink, so confused. But I think I need a diagnostic test like CVS rather than a screen like harmony even if it is 99%
Going to call and postpone harmony so I have more time to think....

Can't imagine what you are going through. CVS at least would give you a clearer answer. Thinking of you today x

@waitingonasmile no I'm glad you said it as I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was being a bitch, hopefully it comes back as an all clearly and I fully appreciate a child with extra needs is a lit of extra work when being a mum to a newborn baby or any child is hard enough so it's a tough decision to make if the baby is likely to have downs, we are all here for you @weasledee and sorry if my post seemed off, I'm not a horrible or judgemental person I promise xx

Maybe I second the advice that you join a union (if you're not already in one). For advice alone their support is invaluable.

I've cancelled harmony test tonight, don't feel it's the right choice for us now...

Thanks polkadot and robin I'm not in a union been meaning to join one for the last 10 years but not got round to it (I know 10 years is a stupidly long time to not get round to something!!) So I will definitely take your advice and join up by the end of this week and then ask their advice on mat leave.

I just got in from work and took off my bra! OMG the relief! I didn't realise it was so constricting today until I took it off! Feels like my rib cage has gotten bigger already?! Surely it's too soon?

@Maybebaby2 I joined Unison as soon as I found out I was pg. I might not need it before baby arrives, but I'll be glad to know they can help with negotiating the terms of my return.

@ForumUsername definitely not too soon, I don't think! So far, I've gone from wearing a 30D to a 34E!!!! (Although I still can't bring myself to wearing disgusting maternity bras!!!)

@ndo4000 I had gone up 2 cup sizes (from 34DD!) about 3 weeks ago when I got measured but my back had stayed the same
I bought 3 cheapish bras thinking they'd do me a few months.
I don't think so now.....

A question for people who've done this before
Did you get back into your pre pregnancy bras after baby was born?
Should I pack away my lovely bras or get rid of them?

Do we have any bump pics yet? Anyone showing? Or are we all still bloated 😂

@Gemxo In the mornings I think I have a nice neat bump but as the day goes on I think bloat takes over and I'm very big going to bed

Although I'm lying in bed picking from a selection box DH had forgotten about
My 'bump' is half chocolate now 😂
