Hi all, just had results etc back from scab last week! Firstly due date has moved to 21st Jan, and likely I'll be induced early so could be a New Year's Day baby! Also just had results and risk of problems v low but I also have v low PAPP-A and have to have extra growth scans. I didn't have this with my first, any one else have any experience of this? X

Maybe you can start and finish mat leave whenever you like. First day of the new term to start is absolutely fine (don't let them tell you otherwise as some schools try to as they're cheeky!) and you can put your return date down as the first day of a holiday and get full pay. Nearly all schools tell you that you need to be back for a week or whatever to get it but you don't.

Also, for any teachers planning to return part time. You can get paid full time for the hols and then start part time for the new term. For example, you go back at the start of the summer hols on full time pay, get full time pay for the 6 week hols, then start your part time contract from the first day of the Autumn term. Again, don't let them tell you otherwise!

I'm planning to teach until 39+5 😬

Things are so different in the UK. Over here, you aren't allowed to work past 36 weeks...

Thank you Polkadot that is really helpful info. Do you know where I can get this in writing, is it stated somewhere online? Just so I have something to back me up if I'm questioned or they say I can't, which I have a feeling they will.

Just booked my gender scan!! 19th August, will be 17+5, can't do it the week before as I'm on holiday! So excited💖💙💖💙

I'm going to be doing a gender reveal the following day with family and friends so at the scan I won't find out!

Is anyone else doing a gender reveal?
My friend is a cake maker so she is going to do us a cake with either blue or pink icing and then we will cut it and find out with everyone! 🙊

@Maybebaby2 I'm a TA as well! I would be surprised if there was a different maternity policy for different members of staff? You should be able to get hold of the policy from the school website or the office? I think that they have to make these policies public?

@Gemxo I'm doing a cannon!! Going to get it when I have my scan. Then do a video as some of my family live down south so going to send it to everyone then there's no arguments xxx

There's nothing on the website ndo and when I asked office manager about maternity leave she told me she knew nothing about it and advised me to speak to a teacher who has just come back from mat leave!

We had ofsted in the day after I got my big fat positive... which was fun! We got good an I don't think policies came up as an issue. I think the office manager just can't be bothered. I'll ask again but this time I'll ask if there is a specific maternity policy.

Not a great update ladies....
Had my scan today and baby has a raised nuchal fold measurement of 6mm. To say I'm out my mind is an understatement :(
Hospital phoning me tomorrow to say what happens next......

Oh weaseldee I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. What a horrible shock that must have been. There's still so so much chance of everything being completely OK. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long to get further investigation.

I have a harmony test booked for tomorrow night but now I don't know what to do.... proceed with that or wait for the CVS I'm sure their going to do......?

That's a hard one and you've not got a lot of time to decide. Am I right in thinking the harmony test has more accurate results, is less invasive and you get the results quicker? If that's the case I would probably still go ahead with it, but I don't know enough about it to advise either way.

Hi weasledee, I had the IONA (similar to Harmony but the results are back a bit faster) and DH and I said that only if the results we high on this test and the nuchal would we agree to the more invasive CVS testing. For us we didn't want to risk miscarriage without having every other bit of information we could first. We were fortunate to be low risk, but just thought I would share our thinking regarding it in case it is of any help to you x
