@NovaArt3mis - I was the same, convinced myself with my extensive knowledge of sonograms (i.e. Dr Google) that an early scan pic showed a large nuchal fold. Was entirely wrong and nuchal measurement was low - all came back low risk. So don't torture yourself!

I've had the talk with my boss too, I'm starting my mat leave on 1st Jan. 24 weeks 24 weeks and counting!!!! Xxxx

I finish work in 2 weeks. I actually quit my job as I'd had enough of them. I still qualify for maternity allowance from November, so I have 5 months sorting out the house we just brought to do up (before I realised I was pregnant) before baby gets here. I couldn't imagine going until the 1st of January but I have always been, admittedly, work shy and always just wanted to be a stay at home mum!

Only 13 weeks on my first so guess I'll be waiting a good few weeks yet 😒

I'm thinking of starting mat leave on 15th December that way I'll have Christmas/new year with family and won't have to worry about work!

I get 2 compulsory weeks holiday at Christmas so was hoping to come in for a week after that so the two weeks holiday isn't counted as maternity leave. But it's a late Christmas holiday and we don't go back till the 8th Jan which means I'd go back in on the wed 10th and I'd be due the next day. I need to find out if I can officially start it on the 8th without being in for the 2 previous weeks. Whole school is closed so not like I have a choice to be in or not.

@Disinterested how do you still get maternity allowance if you don't mind me asking?

There's a calculator on the government t website. You have to have worked for 13 weeks from a certain date and earned over 30 a week on those weeks xx

I haven't a clue when I'll finish up work (teacher). I had DS 5 weeks early and was still working, so really don't want to work too late this time. Will wait and see whether I get Pre eclampsia again and take it from there. Finish at 36 weeks ideally, so 12th Dec.

Your school might have different holiday dates than mine waitingon but I know mine doesn't close for Christmas till 22nd Dec (21st for the kids and the 22nd is a staff inset day) so I figured if I can officially start mat leave on the day school goes back on the 8th Jan I'll of actually finished 2 weeks earlier at 27 weeks. Obviously that's if all is well and I can physically continue till then. I've also got a feeling that they will say I can't start it straight after a holiday, like I have to do a day or a week after the holiday which will be no good for me.

37 weeks not 27!

Yeah that would be the ideal maybebaby we also finish on 21st. I think after last time I don't have much confidence in going full term or lasting at work until 37 weeks. However every pregnancy is different I suppose so all might be perfectly ok this time. Starting Mat leave officially when school returns after holidays would be perfect as would save two weeks leave.

I'm the 3rd in my unit to go on mat leave in last 3 years and both the others went right up to the end so I'm hoping to do the same. I know it might not work out like that for me, every pregnancy is different and I'm 10 years and 12 years older than them so that might make it harder. I'll try to go as long as I can, just need to clarify about starting mat leave straight after a holiday. Office manager doesn't seem to know much so I guess I'll have to call hr.

I've also planned to go off at Christmas but will use up 2.5 weeks of annual leave first so mat leave won't start until mid Jan at the earliest.

12 week scan day! So nervous and excited......

I work at a school so I plan to take maternity leave for 3rd Jan which is when term starts back. Just got to decide whether to return on the day before summer holidays start and then I can get paid throughout the holidays!

15 weeks today . It's all going so quickly this time. Will be almost half way by the time school goes back.

I think I'll return to work just before October holidays but will need to see how money works out.

ndo - I'm thinking the same. Would like to change schools and bubba has delayed this! thinking go back parttime in sept so that I can look for a new role earlier!

scan id on Thursday - starting to get really nervous about it... keep having bad dreams about it too :(

ndo that's what most do at our school, come back the last week before summer to get paid for the 6 weeks hols. Makes good sense, just one week in and then 6 weeks off but with full pay I'm hoping to take a year but it might not work out, will have to see how we are financially. Ideally I'd come back the week before Christmas holidays, so I get the 2 weeks off paid. Will have to see how it goes though.
