What is the safe/harmony test? I have my 12 week scan in 2 weeks and haven't heard nothing about this??

@Gemaxo they are the non invasive prenatal tests. There seems to be different brands, I have gotten the Panorama one.
They take your blood and check for chromosomal syndromes such as downs, Edwards and turner.

When I went for my booking in app 2 weeks ago they did mention them tests but I haven't heard anything else from this or received any letters regarding this? Do you think this will be done when I have my 12 week scan

So after 2 weeks of no spotting I had some pink discharge last night.
It was kinda watery and seemed a lot when I wiped but had none on a pad over night and now seems to be some brown.
I've been getting odd pains the last few days where I imagine my cervix to be, not quite fanny daggers more like it seems tender.

I don't think there is anything wrong but will call MW if it doesn't go away.

It's really knocked me emotionally though TBH. Especially after seeing LO swimming about on Thursday.

We are due to go on holidays on Wednesday and have so much packing to do but the nausea, tiredness and worry has me in bed.
I'm 10+1 and have seen all looking good on Thursday, it's very unlikely anything is wrong, right?

I think I had heard in the UK they offer it to over 35's but not very sure on that

Most people I know in the UK who have had harmony or safe have paid for it themselves.

I feel like such a moody cow today and just want to cry! Hormones eh

@Gemaxo - As far as I'm aware, most NHS trusts don't offer Harmony / Panorama / Safe test as standard - they offer the nuchal test at 12 weeks. These other tests isolate cell free DNA within your blood and combine an analysis of that with the nuchal measurement to give a more accurate indication of Down Syndrome risk (plus Edwards and Patau). We arranged ours at a private clinic for £400.

Me and DP had sex on Friday night, he got a little too exited and thrusted quite hard (only the once) but it did hurt, it felt like he went too deep ( sorry if tmi) since then I've been having a aching feeling, not pain as such just a ache in my lower abdomen (right side)

Should this be worrying? Is that normal? He couldn't of harmed the baby could he?

There has been no blood, but I can feel the ache through the day since it happened. I told him afterwards not to do that again as he knows that hurts me when he goes too deep especially now being pregnant! Men ay!

@Gemaxo I cant speak for everyone but this, in my experience, is normal. I have also ached, almost like period pains, after sex. I did mention this to my midwife and she only told me to refrain from sex as I had had some bleeding and just as a precaution, before that she said there was absolutely no reason to worry about harming the baby! I am still pretty much symptom free, apart from sore boobs, and still worrying as much as ever. Have a private scan booked for next Saturday and I'm absolutely bricking it, despite seeing the baby and heartbeat at 7 weeks.

@Gemaxo no harm to baby during sex. He or she is well protected in there. When we're pregnant there's a lot more blood pumping around "down there" so we're a lot more sensitive. After orgasm I get mild period type pains but I've read this is normal.

@Gemaxo & @ElleMcElle sorry, have been at work.... as @ForumUsername said they are pretty similar. I went for the safe test because the blood are analysed in the uk, rather than US or China. The results only take 5 days. I think the others take a bit longer (due to transport?).

We did it privately (was £400 ) but I think some nhs trusts offer it to women who come back as high risk from their 12 week combined test instead of an amnio.

Is anyone thinking of having a sexing scan at 16 weeks? I had one with my dd. Don't no weather to have one or weather to wait till 20 weeks xxx

@Fattycowagain I'm personally enjoying the renewed energy that seems to come with the second trimester (13+3 here, hooray!). Although I'm currently shattered due to an exhausting weekend working at a busy event, at least it's not due to pregnancy exhaustion! Still stopped up a bit though--not exactly constipation, but a digestive system that takes twice as long to process things! I fear this particular symptom may be a 9-month-long battle for me...ah well, could be worse!

I did spend my day off on Friday pre-empting my weekend of chaos by resting and indulging in a bit of online maternity window shopping! I'm getting too big for my britches! The rubber band trick is working with my most stretchy-comfy jeans, but that won't last long so I'd better go shopping at some point, preferably before our holiday on the 10th...

I'll get a gender scan at 16 weeks. I waited longer with DS but want to know asap this time.

I waited with DS till he was born and actually I hated waiting and I thought the "surprise" element would be worth it at the end of the wait but on reflection I don't think it was.

Anyone have any feeling about what they're having? I think I'm having a girl this time around. Of course I'd be happy either way!! But just have a feeling it's a girl.

Has no one tried the bicarbonate soda gender test yet?? I think im having a girl and that test result was girl! Me and dh found it so funny to do, it's like a silly sience experiment at home! 😂 Can't wait to see if it was right but won't find out till 20 weeks.

Thanks @ndo4000. I hadn't heard of the Safe scan before. The Harmony analysis is done in California, I think.

We'll find out the gender in just over a week when we get our Harmony results. Can't wait to find out and keep changing my mind about whether I think it's a boy or a girl. DH thinks it's a boy, based on the fact that his family seem to have almost exclusively sons for some reason!

Mix 2x tea spoons of bicarbonate soda and your urine... if it fizzes you're having a boy if it doesn't you're having a girl! Apparently I'm having a girl lol.

@millsbynight I think I'm having a boy. There are no girls at all in my dh side. Not bothered either way as long as the bean is healthy!! Xx

mills you put a couple of spoons bicarbonate of soda in a glass and pour on urine (gross I know... but it's science... sort of!) If it bubbles up and fizzes like beer it's a boy and if it stays flat and barely reacts it's a girl! You should definitely try it, if only for a laugh 😂

disinterested same as me, an I've definitely got the feeling it's a girl! Ages to wait to find out though!
