Morning all.

Ellie, loved the post about men thinking they were dying if they were ever to become pregnant! Classic.

And so true about feeling like an old person. I empathise with my 92 year old gran big time!

MIABT, enjoy your penultimate shift this afternoon. Hope your cat snaps out of his sulk!

Maveta, how is your cat this morning?

Well, we nearly got through the night dry - until 5.45 am! Dh got up and dealt with it though, so that was good - a brownie point earned! Plus Becky must have been knackered, as she didn't wake up until 8.30 am and I was also able to lie in until 8.00 - when the cats appeared and trampled me to bits.
I needed it tbh, as was up in the night with a bit of a dodgy tum. Feel ok now, but not 100%.

Better get on.

Have a lovely day all.
xx

Morning ladies. The sun is shining, the washing is drying, the daffodils are waving in the breeze, and I'm working on my maternity leave notes - hurray!

I can't believe no-one has had their baby yet!! I mean, it's mid-March, there must be 30 or so of us, and 2 with twins, and still no babies! Hopefully this means they're all going to show up healthy and happy and sleeping through from 8 weeks?!?

Feeling super-efficient today (dunno about anyone else, but I seem to have one day of feeling great, followed by one day of feeling overwhelmed and tearful, then another good one etc) so better go and finish these notes.

Not posted much recently but have been reading through and sympathise with everyone feeling short with their DDs/DSs / tearful & frustrated with their DHs etc. Pretty much the same here tbh - I burst into tears on Sunday night shouting "I can't possibly have this baby now, I'm just too tired!"

36+3 (blimey, I had DD home from hospital by now!!)

eca · 14/03/2007 10:13

morning everyone!!

loving the sunshine! We even managed to eat lunch and dinner outside yesterday. Am feeling like i'm on holiday with the unexpected time off work!

Cats! Gosh they are expensive! I'm allergic to them, so we don't even get the option of having them. Hearing how much they cost, have to say I'm relieved! Also, we're into gardening in a big way and they would drive me mental using my freshly tilled earth as their litter tray!

Can't remember what else. Ellie, sorry to hear you're having stress.

SOSPL - hurrah for the lie in! Sounds great. Not so great that dh is going away so much! Someone in our antenatal last night was saying how she's stressing about dh going away 2hrs on the train.

Antenatal was good last night. Talked about breastfeeding. NCT teacher said that gov regs say they aren't allowed to talk about bottle feeding in a group like that I'm all for breastfeeding, but that seems a bit draconian. Also said Scotland is way ahead of us with providing - as a legal requirement - feeding facilities in public places.

As for no babies yet... Can you believe I got a text from someone who i've met at antenatal yoga who's due a week after me (around 21st) and she's had a little boy! Was so surprised! All is well, thankfully, but he's a little mite at 4lbs2.

1becomes3 · 14/03/2007 10:49

Morning all, has no one had a baby yet!!!!!

I thought my luck was in yesterday as I felt like crap, and was having some strong contractions a couple of hours apart, but by this morning they had all stopped

I have another appointment with my consultant today and he is going to give me the exact date for my section.
It is quite strange knowing that i will have my babies on a set date if I can keep them in till then.

Mammyjo- hope you are feeling a bit more comfertable today and everthing is ok with DH.

SOSPL-read you post re DH going away, I would kill my DH if he even considered going anywhere over night at the moment, he isn't even goign down to wales to see his kids at the moment.

Who was on last night with all the name changing? couldn't keep up with conversation very confusing

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 10:59

Good luck for your consultant appointment 1b3.

Wish I could have my baby now...am totally fed up. Spotted stretch marks last night and DH then told me I've had some on my bump (underneath, where i can't see) for a couple of weeks. He hadn't bothered telling me cos 'it doesn't matter'...err...it matters to me. . Am starting to really worry he won't be a very good birth partner...I think he might just say what he thinks i want to hear...don't really want someone who's gonna tell me it won't be long when i still have hours and hours to go IYSWIM. He doesn't understand why I'm so upset about it...made him sleep in spare room yesterday and I dare say he'll be in there tonight aswell.

octopussyintummy · 14/03/2007 11:01

Morning all - hope everyone is cheery on this sunny spring morning

No news here - although did go to the bank this morning and to get some mini eggs for playgroup easter egg hunt - when I got back I found that there was a huge piece of maple syrup pecan pastry stuck on my bump

Off to friends for lunch, then parrot deisgn phase 1 then football then a playgroup meeting - phew - so unlikely to get on again today.

Birdie - I know a few people who had ecv - one friend had it for both her dd's and didn;t work but anothe it did work for and she went into labour the next day too! If it doesn't work maybe try moxibustion.

I do find it amazing that people on a parenting website get annoyed about an/pn threads - ridiculous. I don't read 80% of the sections but it doesn't mean they need to be excluded - people should go to the topic list if they are bothered.

Have a nice day all!

eca · 14/03/2007 11:02

morning 1b3!

hope your app goes well today! Wow, it will be exciting for you having a date!! We might actually start having some babies on this thread!

I think it was ellie with the different names.

octopussyintummy · 14/03/2007 11:02

Hello nutty - blimin dh - maybe get a big red marker pen and while he is asleep draw big red lines down his tummy

eca · 14/03/2007 11:06

nutty at dh not telling you about stretchmarks! How could he think you didn't want to know!!!!

octo - lol at pastry on bump! Hope parrot stuff and busy day goes well!

1becomes3 · 14/03/2007 11:10

Nutty- men just don't get it, evertime i pull my top up DH suck in air through his teeth as if it looks really painful and horrible.
OK it does but does he need to do that Everytime he see it
He won't even touch it anymore as you can feel bit of babies close to the surface it freaks him out, so when he is asleep and they start moving around I put my belly on his back so they are kicking him, really pisses him off

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 11:21

Octo - LOL @ red marker pen... I have a black marker pen in the drawer!!!

Good luck with the parrots, I wouldn't know where to start. I'm definitely not the creative type!!! Hoping this LO is a bit of a tomboy, god knows what I'll do if she wants to make pretty things .

I have the same problem as Ange...my food tends to drop down my boobs...it must be how I sit!

claricebean · 14/03/2007 11:43

Hi everyone. DH in UK again so home alone here (well as alone as it counts with 3 DC). Still, gorgeous weather is keeping my spirits up. 37 weeks today

Off to read the thread now............

runnyhabbit · 14/03/2007 11:45

Morning all

Wednesdays are ds day with nana, so I can do what I want today

Dh is working in London tonight but it means I have the bed to myself again He had a stern word with bump, and told it under no circumstances is it to come when he's away. Also told ds to make sure mummy doesn't have the baby.
Bless him, ds replied very seriously "yes daddy"

On the subject of dh/dps, mine might be a bit crap at some things, but is brilliant at making me feel good about my appearance. He remembered how out of shape I felt after ds was born, so (he did say this very tactfully ) has offered to pay for gym membership when I feel ready for it after this lo is born. I'm already looking at ones with creches...and just think, I'll a reason to buy some nice sporty clothes

Pesha - I can't wear my Fembrace anymore, because bump is so low, but I did find it very useful for my SPD. Would you like it? My e-mail address is on the list that ellie did, so just e-mail me with your address, and I'll pop it in the post x (I've also got some crutches, but think I'll have a bit of trouble posting them )

Will be posting again later because I've forgotten a load of stuff

less than 4 wks to D-Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

claricebean · 14/03/2007 11:59

Aahhh, nuttygirl. I think it's quite sweet that your DH said your stretch marks don't matter. It's like saying - you still look lovely to me and I don't think you're any less gorgeous with them. Isn't it??? Think I'm in the minority here .

1b3 - wow, a date. How exciting!!!

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 12:03

CB - I guess it is quite sweet that he doesn't mind me having them...I just feel a bit wierd about the fact he knew I had them and didn't tell me. Think I'm worrying about labour really and whether he's going to be the right kind of person (i think he's a bit 'nice' if that makes sense). I guess i don't want him to say something that's what I'd like to hear when i'd rather have the truth (e.g. how much longer it's going to be, etc)

claricebean · 14/03/2007 12:10

Well, you'll have your midwife to give you the facts. You might just want 'you're doing great' from DH. If he gets really annoying, I'm sure you'll tell him.

1becomes3 · 14/03/2007 12:10

Nutty- It won't be DH your asking those type of questions to it will be the people who know the answers, anyway if your going to be doing it naturally, with no drugs, you will most probably be high as a kite on gas and air so you won't be making much sense

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 12:25

Thanks, I guess you guys are right...probably just first timer nerves starting to get to me!

Also the thought of G&A scares me...used to have blackouts when I was younger and the smell of gas reminds me of the smell i used to get just before i passed out. In fact all the pain relief the hospital offers seems to scare me maybe i should have thought this baby thing through a bit more!!!

claricebean · 14/03/2007 12:28

You'll be fine, NG. And don't worry, the gas doesn't smell of anything.

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 12:32

Really, the only gas I've had before was when i was about 7 at the dentist and it smelled just like the smell i would get when i had a blackout...assumed G&A was the same stuff but mixed with air....does that souns a bit stupid???? If it doesn't smell then I'll be much more relaxed about the labour...was worrying about having NO pain relief whatsoever.

1becomes3 · 14/03/2007 12:33

There is nothing to be scared of they have some lovely things to try.
I had the whole lot with DD, pethidine is good if you want to have a little nap, gas and air is just crazy i didn't like it to much mad me feel a bit too weird.
Epidoodle was great apart from you can't get up and walk around.
morphine was good pain relife apart from it made me itch alot and really hot.
I'm sure there are other things to try, do you have a tens machine?
Worth a look if you are worried.

claricebean · 14/03/2007 12:41

i had G&A with DD1. Don't remember it doing that much for me (except having the mouthpiece to bite on!). Then again, didn't have time to have it with DD2 and i felt a lot more (too much!!) compus mentus with her, so maybe it did more than i thought first time round. sadly they don't have it in Spain. I swear by TENS too.

1becomes3 · 14/03/2007 12:44

Clarice- Do they offer an alternative to G&A in spain?

claricebean · 14/03/2007 12:46

epidural or bust!!!! they thought my TENS was the strangest thing ever. couldn't believe i didn't want the epi

nuttygirl · 14/03/2007 12:48

Have been reading lots about the pain relief I can have but nothing really appeals. Don't really like the idea of feeling woozy (as it seems some people do with pethidine & G&A) and am terrified of epidural cos I have a mole on my back and hate anyone going near it so the thought of having an injection near it is just unbearable. That's all my hospital offer so am really hoping i can have a water birth...think i'll stay more relaxed with a water birth but it's dependant on their being a suitable mw free and birthing pool free at the time i need it.

Well DH has come home from work to make me feel better so had better get some lunch and make things up with him....

Thanks for being so supportive guys.
