Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
runnyhabbit · 16/03/2007 10:50

Thank you girls - the reassurance is much appreciated. Makes such a difference knowing that I'm not alone iykwim.
Feeling much better now Have showered, found clothes that fit (and I like!) done my hair and put some slap on

My mum works in the local supermarket, and she said that even she's getting a bit fed up of people telling her how big I am and asking if I've had the baby etc

Going to go to my parents and chill out for a bit. Dad is working in the garden, so ds can run riot

CaptainDippy · 16/03/2007 10:58

Glad you feel better runny - enjoy your "me" time while your parentsh ave DS!

Gosh - the 11th 1B3 - that ain't long at all - my tummy is pretty red and itchy and angry and sore too and I am not even at "full capacity" yet!! You must be feeling v.big and uncomfortable honey - [[hugs] Hope you have a lovely day - glad you got some good sleep last night!

Hello! I am doing ok; but I have pretty low BP anyway - so yes, I've been getting lots of breathlessness and shakes etc when my BP drops even lower - Are you on iron tabs??

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/03/2007 11:06

1b3, fab that you have got a date for your section - the day before my dh's birthday!
On the subject of itching, my bump is v itchy too - it looks as though I have a few bites on it! Hopefully not flea bites, although no-one else seems to have them, and we do give the cats regular flea treatments. They were so itchy last night it took me an age to drop off. In fact they are itching like mad now. May get some calamine lotion.

Runny, hope you have a lovely relaxing day.

Hiya Bubblez and CD.

I am going to leave work shortly - I worked yesterday instead, but wanted to finish off a few bits today. Now want to go and get on with the "home" stuff that needs doing.

Anyway, back on again later. xx

CaptainDippy · 16/03/2007 11:21

May be you've got nits in your belly hair!!!!?

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 16/03/2007 11:25

CD, pmsl! What a horrid thought!! I'll have a check later! I can't bear anything on my tummy at the moment - just want to go bare - not a good look when out shopping though!

octopussyintummy · 16/03/2007 11:29

Hello everyone

Twinkle - sorry to hear about your job xox

SOSPL and 1B3 - your tummies sound lovely!!! The bearded tummy ROFL

CD - does your shop have a website?

Bubblez - my bp is low - about 90/60 - but not anaemic so no iron tablets here - just need to make sure don;t get up too quickly. Does the low bp make you breathless or is it the baby squashing your lungs, or both?

Maveta - I have given in and bought a wambamboo!

maveta · 16/03/2007 11:43

For what it´s worth I think all of you that are having to deal with little ones at the moment are superstars! I am so aware of how much I am able to spoil myself, and be spoilt, during this pregnancy and often think how very very different it will be next time round. I don´t know how you are all coping so I am sure a few shouty matches and losses of temper are completely understandable and doesn´t detract from you being fab mummies!

Octo - I know, I SAW you!! I did have a little chuckle to myself. I am going to buy one of those new swaddlebees.. they are just too cute to ignore. Actually, I wanted to ask you a Real Nappy question - what wet bag do you use when out and about? Is it a proper nappy one or if not where did you get it? Am currently washing a fleece blanket from Ikea getting ready to make a load of liners and washable wipes.

Today is my big laundry day.. I am finally washing all the baby clothes and towels and blankets. About time. Have also made 3 piles in the cot: baby bag, birth bag, post birth bag.. each pile has everything that needs to be packed and a little checklist on top of it. Have told dh he has to check and pack the bags so he also knows what´s in there. Am feeling super organised!

Have also been eyeing up the kitchen for a spring clean but think I might try and hold off til on mat. leave.. what else am I going to do all day??!

1becomes3 · 16/03/2007 11:47

Right bugger me I did miss alot
have made some notes I am sure i have missed people off but I only did a quick read. so sorry to those i have missed.

Dooby-glad everthing is ok

Wo- good to see you back as well
GMM-welcome back

MIABT-yeay on your mat leave and at your going away.

Clarice-Hope you can keep the baby in till your DH gets back what a terrible time for him to be away [hugs]

glitterkitty-hope you are alright, must be a bit of a worry for you especially with the long wait, make sure you get your self checked out regularly

C.D-welcome back glad you had a good time.

WCL-you had me all excited then thoguth there was going to be a new addition but NO such luck

Eca- hope your baby turns.

SOSLP-my rash started with 3 little red itchie red spots I thought they were bites, until the next day when they had spread.
Are yours on any strech marks? cause it could be the same as mine in which case make sure you oil up 3 times a day and use cortizone cream for the irratation.

RH- you are not a bad mummy a bad mummy is one who forgets to feed their DC all day.
I keep forgetting about DD afternoon milk

twinkle-you must be very about your job, what bastards.
At least you have a while to look for something new.

ooooggs- at you Dt's weight, I keep moaning about mine and you are nearly 2 weeks ahead of me.
Do your DT's have different personalities?
Bit of a weird question i know, but the one on the left for me is the naughty one, keeps sodding around, waving at the tesco man, changing it position, it was head down last week and now is breech again.
Where as the one on the right is never as active as the other it has been head down since the anomaly scan and is really shy when it comes to being monitored and scanned.
It will be intresting to see when they are out if they are still like that.

I have told DH that i should get 3 mothers day presents and cards, he siad no cause they are not out yet.
I think I deserve 3 it is not easy being this pg.

think that is it

1becomes3 · 16/03/2007 12:00

No not finished yet just found a little note at the top of the page.

Thank you all for wishing me well and all the kind birthday wishes BIG[[[[HUGS]]]] for everyone.

octopussyintummy · 16/03/2007 12:01

1b3 - you definitely deserve 3 presents!

Maveta - I have a waterproof bag from Lollipop - but you can get them from any nappy seller - they weren't really about when I had ds1 and used to put them in nappy sacks (which I hate!) but got one with ds2 - they are great - expect to pay about £4-£7 for one. You are very organised today with your washing etc! I would love a swaddlebee velour nappy and some popper woollypants but dh would go a bit loopy I think! Maybe in the next size ...

Off out to lunch with dh now - the sun is shining here - really lovely day

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 12:13

Morning all. Have spent ages catching up as wasnt around yesterday and there were stacks of new messages. The thread seemed to go quieter for a bit but is certainly back to normal now.

SOSPL, sorry you had another wet night. Will Becky consider wearing a pull up for you at night, or what about trying to lift her before you go to bed just for a couple of nights. Did that just for two nights with ds when he had wet a few nights in a row and it did the trick. Wouldnt want to rely on it or they get used to having an extra wee but might help? My ds was wet this morning too. Hasnt wet for ages so think he was probably in a deep sleep and didnt notice. Stripped the bed but the bloody duvet was wet too so have washed and now attempting to dry it! Thank god for tumble driers! Now have to attempt to remake bed which is a bunk type thing with storage underneath. Cant reach over the side properly now due to bump so have to use dh's little step ladder!

MIABT, have a fab weekend you lucky thing.

Twinkle, shame about your job but at least you have got pay until the end of the year and plenty of time to plan your next move.

Runny, lol at your nookie this am! You are certainly not a bad mummy, I think we are all feeling it just now. My temper fuse is about a millimetere long and I lose it very regularly! Too many hormones and too much weight to carry round I think.

Clarice, hope dh's treatment goes well and he is home with you soon.

1b3, you should definitely be getting three mothers day presents. I would like to see the men try and carry the babies around every day. My tummy feels like it cant stretch any more so I cant even begin to think how yours feels. Around my belly button it is so stretched that the skin is actually numb.

Still having loads of twinging pains and stronger braxton hicks here but not getting anywhere. Having very low down pain again this morning. Comes in waves right down in my bum, feels like I might shit the baby out! (Sorry if anyone is eating)

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 12:15

Meant twingy not twinging pains. What the hell is a twinging pain?

CaptainDippy · 16/03/2007 12:20

Of course you deserve three presents 1B3 - I think your DH is cheeky bugger!! Love the idea of your two bubbas having different personalities - it will be really interesting to see if they remain so when they are out!! My DD1 was very wriggly on the inside and v.chilled and slow to develop (crawled at 14m, walked 23m) when she came out - My DD2 however was v.v.v.quiet on the inside and a complete uncontrollable nutter when she popped out (crawled at 5m, walked 11m!!!) AND DD1 was late and DD2 was 4 weeks early - strange, but true!! So perhaps they'll be in reverse!!? This bubba is v.v.v.v.v.wriggly on the inside, so I am hoping for a super chilled one when he / she finally makies their appearance!!

Well, best get DD2 up and lunched so I can go and get DD1 from pre-school. Feel like I have had a reasonably productive morning, which is good!

My shop does have a website octo, but it is pretty crap - wwww.birthandbaby.co.uk - If you are interested in a lambskin, I am more than happy to arrange for you - we also do a massive range of cloth nappies and products - so just tell me what you need!

octopussyintummy · 16/03/2007 12:20

ROFL Mammyjo - my boys think baby is coming out that hole

CaptainDippy · 16/03/2007 12:21
1becomes3 · 16/03/2007 12:22

Mammjo-pmsl at shitting the baby out, wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy.

when I was in hopsital, there was a lady in the bed opposite me who had been in labour since 3pm that afternoon, it was around 10pm and her contractions were getting closer together, so the mw came in to see if she still wanted to stick to her birth plan of being on the no drug ward for a water birth, she was saying yes she still wanted to do that.
2 hours later they came back to move her to that ward and she turned round and said "NO I thinkI will go up to the other ward, I didn't realise it was going to hurt this much"
I had to have a little laugh at that.
what did you think it was going to feel like

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 12:25

Bless her! First time round I just thought it would be like having period pains but a bit worse. Yeah right!! I soon realised I was wrong. In a way I am more scared about it this time because I know what I have let myself in for. Keep telling myself I have done it before so can do it again.

CaptainDippy · 16/03/2007 12:26

Ooooh, like being tickled all over .... obviously!!

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 12:28

GirtWaspbElly · 16/03/2007 12:29

Hi All,
Yay! Maternity leave started this week - so I celebrated by taking ds on a nice relaxing 5 hour train journey to my parents. Actually it wasn't too bad - especially when the train quietened down a bit and he could move up & down the carriage (thanks goodness he couldn't reach teh door buttons by himself!) And then 3 days of bliss with my parents, who loved having him and he was generally an angel for. Means that I've come home relaxed, happy, ready for nookie and at one with the world. Got a wash on, one on the line, and am considering what to make myself for lunch. Sigh. Heaven.
Can't believe no-one's popped yet! Although I must say WCL is looking a favourite to be first! Glad to hear the DVT/eclampsia ISN'T iyswim for 1B3. And wishing sunny to all others feeling under the weather. (Gosh, I AM feeling better - just gotta share )
Don't seem to have as much time to MN as whilst at work - guess nesting kicking in here too although mw visit today said only about 1/5th engaged (I knew that - I can still get my knees together!) She also told me to call the midwife team as soon as we think it's labour as we're all expecting this one to be quick too! Hope I don't go over as my midwife will be on holiday as my dates changed at the beginning - whilst I don't mind a team midwife it'd be nice if she could make it to the birth/ meet the midwife beforehand. She also gave me the what to do in the event of an unassisted birth (which I got mostly right) ie lie down or on all 4's to make it easier to catch your baby, wipe if possible an out on skin stillattached & cover both of you with warm blankets/towels & WAIT for the cavalry!
All a bit of an eye-opener- but as we both say - best to have talked through ALL the possibilities!
Sorry for massive post - love to all!

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 12:33

Glad you had such a relaxing time with your parents. You sound so chilled, am very ! I am being a bit domesticated too what with all the washing and hanging on the line and general tidying!

weeonion · 16/03/2007 12:57

hi folks - day 3 of maternity and have been trying to stay away from MN. dont want my whole days to be taken up with it - as tempting as that is!

sorry i have been crap at keeping up with you all.

i went out shopping earlier - the list of everything i must have never seems to get any shorter! it was funny at the start reasling suddenly that some people really do seem to want to scare the bejeesus out of pregnant women - and it tends to be other women! they will only proceed with the full scale horror stories of labour and birth when you tell them it is your first. by the end of my shopping trip - i decided to try something different and so was lying telling people it was my third, that i was very excited and that my other labours were fine so there would be no reason why this one shouldnt. some folks seemed very affronted by this and wanted to bring it all down - "ah well love - it could all go wrong on this one!!"

yes - i am a first time mum and i am not so niave to think that it will a breeze. i think i am expecting a huge amount of pain but i know i will also get through it. why does it seem that people cant let me go on in that bubble??

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 13:00

Its true WO. Some people cant wait to spill their horror stories but ultimately they all got through it intact with their babies and probably did it a second or third time too. I am just nervous as I think back to my first. I did get through it though and actually think I coped pretty well so no reason why I cant do the same this time.

maveta · 16/03/2007 13:07

OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD.

I finally decided to take the bull by the horns and write an email to my boss about the ML pay situation. I had to close my eyes when I pressed send.. oh dear lord..I feel sick...I just know I´m going to jump everytime the phone goes today now.. and my boss being as she is will probably make me sweat and call several times and not mention it until I HAVE to ask if she´s received it and it´ll be all awkward and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

mammyjo · 16/03/2007 13:11

At least you have done it now so the ball is in her court to have a chat with you about it. Hope she is amenable!
