KLane my freezer is so full, but I'm really tempted to have a go at making some tomorrow. It's not like I don't have time!

Badgerbird · 09/05/2017 20:28

Oooh thanks for heads up re towels n shower curtains at Ikea savage. My pool comes with own sieve. Well posh! May get a spare though... gonna get my waterproof mattress cover there too.

Get those crumpets here now klane!!! They look bloody delicious!! I've started baking which is very unlike me. Made spelt bread and whole meal carrot muffins last week. Seeing if they freeze well as good, healthy, yummy snacks.

My girlies threw me a sort of lunch/baby shower on Sunday so I now have loads more baby stuff including lots of muslins and a box of Cheeky Wipes.

Rustler74 · 09/05/2017 20:46

@Badgerbird haha maybe your nesting is the baking?
I don't think I'll get the nesting, if I will I'm not ready yet! Mind you my MIL said she had it with all her kids, when she started cleaning and she's otherwise admittedly one of the laziest people she knows she said. And I think she may be right haha!

@KLane I'm not big at baking but maybe I should do these crumpets! Easy?

KLane · 09/05/2017 20:46

@ClaireSunflower Let me know how it goes! It was only my first attempt so I definitely need some tips regarding the holey bits Smile

@MrsJW15 I was just saying to DH that I could really do with one of those massive freezers for the cellar to fill with all of my Costco bulk size bags of pineapple and baking haha.

@Badgerbird Those both sound delicious! Muffins are such a good call to freeze as they'll probably be the easiest thing to take out and pop in the microwave when your hands are full. Plans for tomorrow..... mmmm.

CoxsOrangePippin · 09/05/2017 21:31

Spelt bread freezes beautifully. Bread making is on my to do list for pre baby mat leave so that I can feel nice and smug about 2am toast!

I use the 'five minute bread' technique, prettier loaves than a bread machine and no more trouble Grin

Badgerbird · 09/05/2017 21:42

Ok cox and klane recipes please! I like the sound of 5 min bread :)

Here's the carrot muffin recipe. You can use egg instead of chia/flax seeds and I used wholemeal flour. Oh and I added raisins and pecans. They turned out yummy and moist.

rustler how's your ankle? Yep I'm in nesting mode Grin

Babysitting for friends nearly 3 and 1 year old whilst watching OBEM. Maybe I'm missing work (nannying) already?!?

Tickyboovicki · 09/05/2017 21:43

Huge congratulations to ghost and thanks for the reminder about birth stories thread, might do mine later

KLane · 09/05/2017 21:56

@Rustler74 The process seems easy enough, but I think getting the technique right is probably the trick. I was told to expect failure the first few times at least, so probably not the best thing to attempt if you're not keen to give it a few tries!

@Badgerbird I think the recipe I used was part of the problem (also I think I didn't have the pan hot enough). This is the recipe I'm going to try next! Definitely trying those muffins this week.

MrsJW15 · 09/05/2017 22:20

Klane unfortunately we live in a small flat so nowhere to put an extra freezer. Instead I've got mum cooking and filling her freezer so she can bring things in stages!

CoxsOrangePippin · 09/05/2017 22:56

Bread!
leitesculinaria.com/93789/recipes-5-minute-artisan-bread.html
I use less salt, and I sub in fancy flours (spelt, rye, etc) for about a third of the flour, which makes the crust less crunchy and it only lasts a week in the fridge rather than two, but I like the flavours.

When I've used up a batch I don't wash the bowl I just put the warm water in and scrape the bits of old dough into it.

lullaby23 · 10/05/2017 01:12

Congratulations ghost what a prompt baby!

badger scary to think your friend was leaking waters without realising, it must have been very gradual.

tea no I'm in Singapore, grateful they have M&S here it's nice to get Percy Pigs properly British stuff from time to time. Well done babytea on the weight gain!

Sounds like some progress from last time bright keeping fingers crossed for you things get moving before induction date

bouncing glad you're back home for now, come on little blueberry!

Home made crumpets klane that's amazing they look tasty. That reminds me I need to start on my lactation cookies soon!

RasperryInAMelon · 10/05/2017 02:12

Ah... 2am... we meet again...😒

Had my 38 week appointment yesterday and have been booked for a sweep on the 23rd if she doesn't make a natural appearance before then!

Headed out for dinner last night with the girls from my NCT group which was super lovely, although lots of vivid dreams of us all going into labour this evening! 🙈

DH is working away in Telford again today so hoping she stays put - going to spend the day watching soppy love films on the Birthing ball!

@BouncingBlueberry at least it looks like things are progressing in the right way!

@Rustler74 just take it steady on Friday, I was feeling better yesterday... 1 loop of Bluewater and my ankles the size of a golf ball again 😩

@Ghostonthedancefloor massive congratulations! 💕 looking forward to reading your birth story shortly

@Badgerbird I've been worried about the waters leaking business too! MW thinks I should be ok, but to go in if any further leakage.

@teainbed yay for babyTea regaining weight! ☺️

@FoxMulder 🍪🍪🍪😂😂😂 I've eaten and replaced the hospital snacks bag twice!

Good work @KLane don't know if I have the patience to be in the kitchen baking!

What is it with the crumpet obsession?? I'm eating at least 4 a day!! This is almost as bad as when we all stormed our supermarket for Monster Munch! 😂

Right... I guess it's probably time to try and get up and have the worlds smallest wee before elbowing DH in the back for snoring so I can try and get back to sleep 😴😴😴

OP posts:
Brightsmoke · 10/05/2017 04:40

Yay, I managed to sleep until 4 instead of 3 today, baby steps 🙄

Rasperry, I was told to check my temperature when I thought my waters started leaking, if over 37.5 then it's probably them, ifs it's normal, it's probably not, hopefully that helps you know either way! Hope you managed to get back to sleep

Brightsmoke · 10/05/2017 06:52

Having just re read that, that's actually wrong 🙈 don't trust 4.30am advice 😂

If you think your waters have gone, but nothing else has happened, it's likely to cause an infection after a while, meaning your temperature would rise. If it's 37.5 or over, give the hospital a call. If it doesn't go over 37.5, it's probably not your waters. Think that is more accurate and hope it makes sense 🙈

Sipperskipper · 10/05/2017 07:24

Great thanks cox.

Off for stretch & sweep this afternoon....can't wait! Confused

Tickyboovicki · 10/05/2017 08:06

Loving that the crumpet talk has progresssd to homemade crumpets! I am very impressed with everyone giving that a go!

We walked to tescos yesterday, didn't realise how much it would kill me! It's only a 5 minute walk away but my stitches were agony and I was walking so slowly! Guess it goes to show how little I've done recently, and just how slowly I'm going to have to build it up.

Other half has his final exam for masters today, so me and baby ticky stayed at my mums last night. Wasn't too bad seeing as I was terrified of being on my own without other half, and also first night with no formula top ups! He was on them in the hospital and we hadn't changed anything when we got home as we only had like 3/4 days before the exam and it was working for us to get sleep so he could revise. But feeling quite proud now 🙂
Can't wait for it to be over, feel so sorry for the other half as it's been really getting to him that he's spent the first week of baby's life and his paternity leave revising, but I keep saying just a few more hours and then he's got a week off where we can have some proper family time before he goes back to work. Now just to get through today as my first day alone whilst he's gone!

Badgerbird · 10/05/2017 08:20

Lots of firsts there ticky. Take it easy on yourself, sounds like you guys are doing really really well :) Can't believe your DH has been doing his masters exams at this time too, it must be nuts! Confused Not long now.....

Oooh good luck today sipper!

Hope you had a good sleep blueberry* you might need it! Keep us posted :)

Off to get my mum from airport in a bit, she's over for a couple days as I messaged her saying I really missed her and could we have a couple of days just us 2 again before baby comes. Soppy thing I am.

newbieho · 10/05/2017 08:48

@CoxsOrangePippin thanks for the bread recipe, I will give it a try this afternoon.

@lullaby23 can we have a recipe for lactation cookies please?

Good luck for your OH @Tickyboovicki !

@RasperryInAMelon please take it easy with your ankle, it needs some time to heal.

Off to the MW today (39+5). Hopefully the sunny weather stays for a while. Have a good day everyone!

Sipperskipper · 10/05/2017 09:12

Good luck to your OH today ticky!

WishIWasSleeping · 10/05/2017 09:39

Didn't manage to get any crumpets yesterday... we had some last week though so I don't feel tooooo bad!
its like the monster munch all over again. Did anyone actually pack any in their birth bags?!

Congratulations Ghost! - fab birth story too. Grin
Teainbed - that must be a relief. Well done babyTea. (And you for feeding all the hours god sends!)

Skipper - May 2017 Special: the 'been there done that' thread!
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2912404-May-2017-Special-the-been-there-done-that-thread
I don't know how to change the words like the proper links on my phone! Confused

Take it easy on those ankles, you'll need your ankles for when your legs start getting wobbly when you try and get up after baby arrives! Grin

I hired a sling yesterday for babyWish, so maybe I can venture out with both children today, rather than trying to squeeze everything into DDs trial hours at her new nursery!
Although I'm glad I didn't go straight into putting babyWish in and started with their weighted doll, as I'm pretty sure there would have been some wobbly baby necks and twisted baby ankles! Shock

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 10/05/2017 09:46

Congratulations ghost I'm jealous of your prompt baby!!

Well done tea and ticky great achievements and good luck to your OH today ticky.

Yesterday's sweep at 40+6 did not go completely to plan. Heartbeat fine but bump was measuring 35cm (I posted a picture on the bump thread on Monday as thought I was enormous!!) and midwife made a flurry of phone calls and sent me to hospital. 4 hours of waiting, monitoring and remeasuring, they got 37cm and as movement and heartbeat really good and head right down in pelvis now aren't worried. Sweep done, I asked her to really go for it as want to go to MLU and she did!! It sounds like I'm pretty much exactly same progression as you bright - how are you feeling today? -and she was happy with what she found. Some period type pains since and I will ask for another sweep before induction which is not yet booked if this one doesn't do the trick.

Bagels are my current bread based obsession, loads of cream cheese and hot smoked salmon / pastrami/ roast beef ummmmm

Tickyboovicki · 10/05/2017 10:02

Birth story up on the other thread. I apologise in advance, it's a loooong one 🙈

Tickyboovicki · 10/05/2017 10:03

And thanks for all the good luck wishes! Can't wait to have him back if I'm honest

lullaby23 · 10/05/2017 10:35

Well done on getting out ticky and good luck to DH, tricky timing but I bet it will all be worthwhile.

badger sweet you're getting some mummy time Smile

dream I am laughing at the midwife really going to town on your sweep! Hope it has the desired effect.

newbie I'm trying this recipe but haven't done it yet so can't 100% recommend until they've passed the taste test!

Sipperskipper · 10/05/2017 10:36

dream that sounds stressful!! Hope you are feeling ok now. I'm also on the bagels - toasted with shedloads of butter & philadelphia!
