Congratulations @SanitysSake Giraffe is gorgeous. Glad your both well and sorry you had a hard time. Sounds like all the cuddles are making up for it though! Love the fact you're so in love!

@crazyzooo thanks for the insights, off to google cheeky wipes!

@WishIWasSleeping still gorgeous what a smile!!

@teainbed 3 weeks?! How did that happen! 2 x 3 hours sounds like an achievement though well done!

Last moving day today, only had one irrational meltdown so far which DH told me off for then gave me a hug so not too bad! @beanturnipandspud and @Tickyboovicki when moving time comes for you I highly recommend hypnobirthing breathing tracks! Probably saved me from several more mini meltdowns GrinHmm

Rabbitykins55 · 05/05/2017 10:26

Congratulations @SanitysSake and anyone else I've missed!

PeachIcedT · 05/05/2017 10:42

Congratulations @SanitysSake , sorry it wasn't a great birth experience from the sounds of things but wishing you a speedy recovery and what a lovely bundle you have now!

WishIWasSleeping · 05/05/2017 10:48

Oh - bathing DS yesterday has reminded me to tell you all - unless you just use water, or have the new dove products or other helpful products that have a pump lid function, when you come to bathe baby alone if you cradle in one arm and wash in another like I do, the normal liquids and shampoos are a massive fail and really hard to dispense into your palm with the same hand....
I decanted into some pump action hand soap tubs and peeled and stuck the labels to remind DH me what's in each. Although as a johnsons user bright yellow and bright pink liquids are quite easy to tell apart! Grin
I hope all of that made sense!! x

Rustler74 · 05/05/2017 10:59

Ooooh another gorgeous baby! Congratulations @SanitysSake, I totally see why you're in love! I've loved every single baby picture so either you're all great at capturing their beautiful streaks or it means that they're all scrummy bugs!

MrsJW15 · 05/05/2017 11:17

Congratulations Sanity! Hope you are recovering well.

Those with Snuzpods - will you leave the side down all through the night, or just open it to take baby in and out?

crazyzooo · 05/05/2017 11:25

Please may I ask a perhaps stupid question from the ones who have done this before or anyone else in the know? We ventured outside in the garden this morning felt brave, then I got worried he wasn't wearing sunscreen on his fresh skin... When do you start and what product do I use please? Flowers

EsmesBees · 05/05/2017 11:31

crazyzoo you don't need to put suncream on yet I think, just keep them out of direct bright sun. I think most baby suncream say from 6m, but couldn't swear to it. I would recommend an Australian brand called SunSense which I use on my toddler. It comes in a roll on and is very gentle on sensitive skin.

PeachIcedT · 05/05/2017 11:33

@MrsJW15 I'm planning to zip it down only when needed, I think that's what the manufacturer recommends if I remember correctly and you can still see baby through the mesh when it's up.

EsmesBees · 05/05/2017 11:37

Popped out earlier to get the final bits for my hospital bag, including a mirror and net for a water birth. Had no idea where to buy a net so went to a tiny pet shop where you have to ask for help, rather than browse yourself. Who knew there was such variety in fish nets?? The very nice assistant was asking all about what my tank was like and what size I'd need. I obviously couldn't say what I needed it for, so I panicked and bought the smallest! Got home and DH burst out laughing saying there's no way that will be big enough Blush I'm still hopeful it won't be needed, wasn't an issue the first time.

savagehk · 05/05/2017 11:41

esmes thought the hospital would have their own equipment for such eventualities? (Also thought a sieve was the usual culprit ;) )

re sunscreen, use a sunhat and keep them out of direct sunlight. I'd not put any sunscreen on. They do need vit D as well so a small amount of direct sunlight will be useful (5-10 mins or so).

EsmesBees · 05/05/2017 11:51

Yes you would think savage but not my trust. I've been told a number of times that if I don't bring my own, then no pool. A sieve is a much better idea!

The design of the bednest has changed now tea so it's either sides up or down. Sounds like baby tea is doing really well. And the other DC are adjusting well.

newbieho · 05/05/2017 12:32

@teainbed it's hard to believe that we have a three week old baby in the group - time flies!

@dreamofhungarianlanterns what a lovely gift from your mum. I presume it may be an emotional experience to read your own birth story.

@WishIWasSleeping Good advice on bottles with pumps, I didn't think of it.

Baby newbie was kind enough to stay inside so we could go ahead with the nursery visit and put him on the waiting list for next year admission. It is insane! I'm 39 weeks today and wondering if I can convince him to wait until Tuesday - early labour signs are already there...

teainbed · 05/05/2017 12:43

Yes @EsmesBees I think there were a lot of secondhand ones kicking about without instructions but good that there is awareness and they've fixed the new ones.

That's hilarious about the fishnets!

@newbieho what is a happening, are you having contractions? Good news about nursery!

@WishIWasSleeping BabyTea has only had about 3 baths ShockConfused he seems to quite like them. I usually have tons of 'helpers' though. Grin

newbieho · 05/05/2017 13:54

Apologies for TMI @teainbed - very irregular contractions, increased discharge, loose bowels, baby engaged, bump dropped, heartburn going away, changing moods (poor DH)...it may last days it may not. I have started panicking a bit Confused

FoxMulder · 05/05/2017 14:29

Esme the net they provided with my pool hire is tiny! I was expecting a sieve...

MrsJW15 · 05/05/2017 15:08

Any thoughts on causes of a sharp, stitch like pain on my right hand side? Can't decide if it's return of PGP, baby in an uncomfortable position or something else.

Brightsmoke · 05/05/2017 15:11

Congratulations Sanity. What a gorgeous little giraffe ❤️

It's mine and DH's 1st wedding anniversary today, so with baby being (ok so not officially) 2 days late, we're discussing curry take away or out for a meal. For someone who normally finds a Korma a satisfying level of spice, I might regret this decision 🙈

CoxsOrangePippin · 05/05/2017 16:16

sanity congratulations!

I've just left work for the last time for at least six months... feeling a bit SadConfused

newbieho · 05/05/2017 16:44

@CoxsOrangePippin it does feel weird, doesn't it? However I find quite beneficial being on mat leave when you need to get some rest or a nap during the day Grin

MrsJW15 · 05/05/2017 17:42

@CoxsOrangePippin I found it very odd! But a week in, surprisingly nice. I'm enjoying not rushing around all the time.

teainbed · 05/05/2017 18:03

@newbieho sounds like something is starting anyway!

PeachIcedT · 05/05/2017 18:28

Pleased you made it to the nursery @newbieho and exciting signs of labour! I've not had any of that - though every time the movement is strong I worry she is trying to shift out of ceph position!

I spoke to my sister to get some more details about her first birth, I knew it was quick but I couldn't remember the details and why she needed to call an ambulance. She was stuck in the bath and could feel the head and they helped her get out but she was 10cm during the ambulance ride - got to the hospital and had baby in minutes! Though I don't want anything too drawn out it has scared me that things have the potential to progress very quickly.

Badgerbird · 05/05/2017 20:00

Thanks tea, yes as far as I could tell the issue has been sorted and I don't plan on using it half up but will triple check. Can't believe baby tea is 3 weeks old and can't believe you're back in your old clothes!! Can't see that happening to me.
And yes vanilla, esme I may end up using sleepyhead type thing inside it too! Who knows Confused
