Afternoon ladies

Feel as though baby is trying to escape. Movements have picked up, which is good, and am experiencing cramps that I suspect are braxton hicks. Feeling pressure down below as well as my bum so we shall see if anything comes of it.

Barnes79 · 04/05/2017 14:56

Jenny I must admit I had a chuckle at your last post as I accidentally inserted "out" into the sentence between "comes" and "of" when reading it in my head 😳

nurseb you're back! And what a gorgeous bump!! So pleased you got iron sorted out, hopefully it'll make a really positive difference.

So I was going for a leisurely swim before work but car park queue was so long I missed slot and ended up in an aqua class. Loved it!!

I'm amazed what a difference a week makes. I'm so much more uncomfortable now, feels like everything's pushing down Confused

Well done baby northern!! Glad you can get more comfy feeding now too. Do any of you mamas use a special pillow to bf? Or is normal fine?

Oh I think I'm gonna rent a bednest! Who else has one??

Any more meet ups going on?

EsmesBees · 04/05/2017 15:48

badger I'm getting a bednest. Should be delivered on Monday. I rented one last time too. I thought it was great. Plus it's the only co-sleeper that fits our stupidly high bed.

Just went for my first NHS acupuncture appointment. Too soon to tell whether it's helped my hip pain, but it was very relaxing. They have it in what used to be the old antenatal clinic, a really old fashioned bit of the hospital. They've made no changes apart from playing some 'spa' type music, yet it's full of pregnant women having reflexology and acupuncture. Was really bizarre.

Northernexile · 04/05/2017 15:50

Thanks badger! I have a widgey cushion that I find useful for lifting him up off my stomach while the wound is still sore. I'm using it for all feeds when sitting in a chair at the minute.

jennymac31 · 04/05/2017 15:51

It seems that the bh have stopped for now, which is good. Had a feeling this would happen as soon as I posted an update but I'm happy for baby to stay put for a while longer.

Barnes - I had to double-check my last post after reading your one just to make sure that I didn't do a typo.

vanilla8 · 04/05/2017 16:14

@Northernexile where do you get baby passport pics done?we are planning on a holiday in August too.

@nursebickypegs sorry to hear you suffering with the iron, but glad you have got it sorted now

@Badgerbird I agree about how quickly things change. Pressure down below and walking such a struggle now.

4 more working days for me! Wedding Saturday so off for haircut and pedicure tomorrow

Any photo shop should be able to do them. They lie the newborn down on the floor usually. Go somewhere where you can have them redone for free if they're rejected. One set of ours was rejected against the rules for 'closed eyes' (which is permitted for newborns!).

Northernexile · 04/05/2017 16:43

vanilla we had ours done at a chemist that does photos too. They guaranteed that they would be accepted (fingers crossed!). They put him on a white cushion and snapped away till they were happy they had a good one!

nursebickypegs · 04/05/2017 17:03

As a teenager I use to work in a photoshop and did the baby photos! We use to have to get it right first time as we had a huge Polaroid camera! I think they use a digital now.

Thanks for the love everyone! feeling better than I was.

So how many babies do we have now!

Brightsmoke · 04/05/2017 20:14

Random thought of the day; is it our bodies that make baby come, or is it baby that tells our body it's ready?

FoxMulder · 04/05/2017 20:21

The theory I've heard is that baby releases a hormone when it's ready. Something to do with lung maturity?

peasandquiet · 04/05/2017 20:22

I would love to know the answer to that Bright. With my first I felt like my body gave up so my guess is babies are evicted rather than decide it's time to leave.

Badgerbird · 04/05/2017 20:48

Brightsmoke · 04/05/2017 20:48

See, that's what I thought, that it was baby that decides. But all the old wives tales, how are they supposed to work if it's babies decision 🤔 think I might ask the Midwife's at my 41 week app, hopefully baby comes before then 😂

savagehk · 04/05/2017 20:48

Heard the same as fox. But equally there must be some changes in the mother; eg my first was very late, which is a classic sign of an OP baby (in hindsight), so even if his lungs were ready his position wasn't iyswim.

newbieho · 04/05/2017 21:03

@Badgerbird love the eviction notice 😂😂😂

peasandquiet · 04/05/2017 21:12

That's a great eviction note... have read aloud to bump!

newbieho · 04/05/2017 21:22

I wanted to share the recipe in case anyone has got some leftovers dates left www.thecookingshed.com/single-post/2017/01/24/Date-cinnamon-butter-recipe

MrsJW15 · 04/05/2017 21:32

I thought that basically no one knew if it was baby or mum that decided. Which is why induction is tricky.

Had the most amazing massage this morning, followed by cuddles with a six week old. Hoping that inspired some oxytocin! Made a curry for dinner... Trying to get this baby moving as I'm also getting BH and pressure low down.

Has anyone rented a TENS machine? Thinking of getting one but I'd rather rent than buy.

1004Rise · 04/05/2017 21:35

Love the eviction notice!! It will be issued to bump on Sunday Wink

I think I've read if all is well then it's the baby that triggers labour, but like @savagehk said I think baby has to be in the right position as well as releasing hormones/signals to start.

I think if there's something "wrong" (for lack of a better word) then it's our bodies that give up... and labour starts either to protect us or the baby.... so if for example you get an infection you're more likely to give birth earlier than the baby is ready to come...

1004Rise · 04/05/2017 21:37

@MrsJW15 we bought a tens machine from boots... had a 10% off voucher from the parenting club and you can use it for non labour pains after (my DHs dodgy knees for example) I think it was only 30 quid ish....

ClaireSunflower · 04/05/2017 21:41

@MrsJW15 I've rented one online for £22 for 7 weeks which includes postage which I thought wasn't a bad price:

mrscrocopop · 04/05/2017 21:59

He he, love the eviction notice. Just read it to DP and he laughed too.

Had 38/39 week midwife appointment today. Have been booked in for a sweep at 40+5 but she is of the opinion it won't be required. Fingers crossed she is good at making predictions!!!
